1Fragment 3: Origin of The Ascent Psalms

2Quando percebi que eles tinham debatido durante demasiado tempo, disse-lhes que isso não era satisfatório. Assim iremos todos juntos ao Tabernáculo do Senhor, montaremos os degraus do altar, e a quem o espírito de Deus descer, nos dirá a ordem do Livro dos Salmos.

2When I realized that they had debated for too long, I told them this is unsatisfactory. So we will all go together to the Tabernacle of the Lord, we will assemble the degrees of the altar, and to whom the spirit of God descends, will tell us the order of the Book of Psalms.

3Todos aceitaram esta condição, então fomos ao Tabernáculo do Senhor. O filho de Corá subiu os primeiros degraus do altar e falou. Mas eles não disseram uma palavra e ele desceu.

3Everyone accepted this condition, so we went to the Tabernacle of the Lord. The son of Korah climbed the first degrees to the altar and spoke. But they did not say a word, and he stepped down.

4Asafe foi por sua vez, e o Espírito de Deus desceu sobre ele, convencendo-o de que nem ele nem o filho de Corá deveriam completar esta tarefa.

4Asaph went in turn, and the Spirit of God descended upon him, convicting him, that neither he nor the son of Korah should complete this task.

5Então fui, e o espírito de Deus desceu sobre mim e nunca mais me deixou. Até o ponto que eu tinha os finais e as fórmulas de recitação de cada um dos quinze graus.

5Then I went, and the spirit of God descended upon me, and never left me. Until the point that I had the ends, and the recitation formulas for each of the fifteen degrees.

6A multidão clamou a uma só voz: Esta profecia deve ser atribuída a Davi, e cabe a ele escrevê-la. E eu disse: Não, cada um escreva cada um dos seus Salmos em seu próprio nome.

6The crowd cried with one voice, This prophecy must be attributed to David, and it is for him to write it. And I said No, each one should write each of his Psalms in his own name.

7E ele (o filho de Corá) fugiu para sua própria casa por causa do que eu disse. Então me levantei e fui para a montanha. Jejuei e falei com Deus com orações humildes.

7And he (the son of Korah) fled to his own house because of what I said. Then I got up, and I went to the mountain. I fasted and I spoke to God with humble prayers.

8E Ele veio até mim e me deu todas as profecias que revelam a vinda do Messias. Eu os escrevi neste volume e coloquei-o na minha biblioteca que fica no Capitólio.

8And He came to me and gave me all the prophecies which reveal the coming of Messiah. I wrote them down in this volume, and placed it in my library which is in the Capitol.
