Livro de Jasher 86

1Naquele tempo, depois da peste, disse o Senhor a Moisés e a Elazer, filho de Arão, o sacerdote, dizendo:

1At that time after the pestilence, the Lord said to Moses, and to Elazer the son of Aaron the priest, saying,

2Contai os chefes de toda a comunidade dos filhos de Israel, de vinte anos para cima, todos os que saíram no exército.

2Number the heads of the whole community of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth in the army.

3E Moisés e Elazer contaram os filhos de Israel segundo as suas famílias, e o número de todo o Israel foi setecentos mil setecentos e trinta.

3And Moses and Elazer numbered the children of Israel after their families, and the number of all Israel was seven hundred thousand, seven hundred and thirty.

4E o número dos filhos de Levi, da idade de um mês para cima, foi vinte e três mil, e entre estes não houve um só homem dos contados por Moisés e Arão no deserto do Sinai.

4And the number of the children of Levi, from one month old and upward, was twenty-three thousand, and amongst these there was not a man of those numbered by Moses and Aaron in the wilderness of Sinai.

5Porque o Senhor lhes havia dito que morreriam no deserto, então todos morreram, e não sobrou nenhum deles, exceto Calebe, filho de Jefoné, e Josué, filho de Num.

5For the Lord had told them that they would die in the wilderness, so they all died, and not one had been left of them excepting Caleb the son of Jephuneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

6E foi depois disso que o Senhor disse a Moisés: Dize aos filhos de Israel que vinguem sobre Midiã a causa de seus irmãos, os filhos de Israel.

6And it was after this that the Lord said to Moses, Say unto the children of Israel to avenge upon Midian the cause of their brethren the children of Israel.

7E Moisés assim fez, e os filhos de Israel escolheram dentre eles doze mil homens, sendo mil para cada tribo, e foram para Midiã.

7And Moses did so, and the children of Israel chose from amongst them twelve thousand men, being one thousand to a tribe, and they went to Midian.

8E os filhos de Israel guerrearam contra Midiã, e mataram todo homem, também os cinco príncipes de Midiã, e Balaão, filho de Beor, mataram à espada.

8And the children of Israel warred against Midian, and they slew every male, also the five princes of Midian, and Balaam the son of Beor did they slay with the sword.

9E os filhos de Israel levaram cativas as mulheres dos midianitas, com os seus pequeninos, e com o seu gado, e com tudo o que lhes pertencia.

9And the children of Israel took the wives of Midian captive, with their little ones and their cattle, and all belonging to them.

10E tomaram todo o despojo e toda a presa, e os trouxeram a Moisés e a Elazer, nas planícies de Moabe.

10And they took all the spoil and all the prey, and they brought it to Moses and to Elazer to the plains of Moab.

11E Moisés e Elazer e todos os príncipes da congregação saíram ao encontro deles com alegria.

11And Moses and Elazer and all the princes of the congregation went forth to meet them with joy.

12E eles dividiram todos os despojos de Midiã, e os filhos de Israel se vingaram de Midiã pela causa de seus irmãos, os filhos de Israel.

12And they divided all the spoil of Midian, and the children of Israel had been revenged upon Midian for the cause of their brethren the children of Israel.
