Livro de Jasher 8

1E foi na noite em que Abrão nasceu, que todos os servos de Terah, e todos os sábios de Nimrod, e seus mágicos vieram e comeram e beberam na casa de Terah, e eles se alegraram com ele naquela noite.

1And it was in the night that Abram was born, that all the servants of Terah, and all the wise men of Nimrod, and his conjurors came and ate and drank in the house of Terah, and they rejoiced with him on that night.

2E quando todos os sábios e mágicos saíram da casa de Terah, eles levantaram os olhos para o céu naquela noite para olhar as estrelas, e eles viram, e eis que uma estrela muito grande veio do leste e correu nos céus, e ele engoliu as quatro estrelas dos quatro lados dos céus.

2And when all the wise men and conjurors went out from the house of Terah, they lifted up their eyes toward heaven that night to look at the stars, and they saw, and behold one very large star came from the east and ran in the heavens, and he swallowed up the four stars from the four sides of the heavens.

3E todos os sábios do rei e seus mágicos ficaram surpresos com a visão, e os sábios entenderam este assunto, e eles sabiam o seu significado.

3And all the wise men of the king and his conjurors were astonished at the sight, and the sages understood this matter, and they knew its import.

4E eles disseram um ao outro: Isso apenas indica a criança que nasceu para Terah esta noite, que crescerá e será frutífera, e se multiplicará, e possuirá toda a terra, ele e seus filhos para sempre, e ele e sua semente matarão grandes reis e herdarão suas terras.

4And they said to each other, This only betokens the child that has been born to Terah this night, who will grow up and be fruitful, and multiply, and possess all the earth, he and his children for ever, and he and his seed will slay great kings, and inherit their lands.

5E os magos e mágicos foram para casa naquela noite, e pela manhã todos esses magos e mágicos levantaram cedo e se reuniram em uma casa designada.

5And the wise men and conjurors went home that night, and in the morning all these wise men and conjurors rose up early, and assembled in an appointed house.

6E eles falaram e disseram uns aos outros: Eis que o que vimos ontem à noite está escondido do rei, não lhe foi dado a conhecer.

6And they spoke and said to each other, Behold the sight that we saw last night is hidden from the king, it has not been made known to him.

7E se esta coisa chegar ao conhecimento do rei nos últimos dias, ele nos dirá: Por que escondeste este assunto de mim, e então todos sofreremos a morte; portanto, agora vamos contar ao rei o que vimos e a sua interpretação, e então permaneceremos claros.

7And should this thing get known to the king in the latter days, he will say to us, Why have you concealed this matter from me, and then we shall all suffer death; therefore, now let us go and tell the king the sight which we saw, and the interpretation thereof, and we shall then remain clear.

8E eles fizeram isso, e todos foram até o rei e se curvaram diante dele no chão, e disseram: Que o rei viva, que o rei viva.

8And they did so, and they all went to the king and bowed down to him to the ground, and they said, May the king live, may the king live.

9Ouvimos dizer que um filho nasceu para Terah, filho de Nahor, o príncipe do teu exército, e ontem à noite fomos à sua casa, e comemos e bebemos e nos regozijamos com ele naquela noite.

9We heard that a son was born to Terah the son of Nahor, the prince of thy host, and we yesternight came to his house, and we ate and drank and rejoiced with him that night.

10E quando teus servos saíram da casa de Terah, para irem para nossas respectivas casas para passar a noite lá, levantamos nossos olhos para o céu e vimos uma grande estrela vindo do leste, e a mesma estrela correu com grande velocidade e engoliu quatro grandes estrelas, dos quatro lados dos céus.

10And when thy servants went out from the house of Terah, to go to our respective homes to abide there for the night, we lifted up our eyes to heaven, and we saw a great star coming from the east, and the same star ran with great speed, and swallowed up four great stars, from the four sides of the heavens.

11E teus servos ficaram surpresos com a visão que vimos, e ficaram muito aterrorizados, e fizemos nosso julgamento sobre a visão, e soubemos por nossa sabedoria a interpretação correta disso, que esta coisa se aplica à criança que nascerá de Terah, que crescerá e se multiplicará grandemente, e se tornará poderoso, e matará todos os reis da terra, e herdará todas as suas terras, ele e sua semente para sempre.

11And thy servants were astonished at the sight which we saw, and were greatly terrified, and we made our judgment upon the sight, and knew by our wisdom the proper interpretation thereof, that this thing applies to the child that is born to Terah, who will grow up and multiply greatly, and become powerful, and kill all the kings of the earth, and inherit all their lands, he and his seed forever.

12E agora, nosso senhor e rei, eis que realmente te informamos do que vimos a respeito desta criança.

12And now our lord and king, behold we have truly acquainted thee with what we have seen concerning this child.

13Se parecer bom ao rei dar valor a seu pai por esta criança, nós o mataremos antes que ele cresça e aumente na terra, e sua maldade aumente contra nós, para que nós e nossos filhos pereçamos por sua maldade.

13If it seemeth good to the king to give his father value for this child, we will slay him before he shall grow up and increase in the land, and his evil increase against us, that we and our children perish through his evil.

14E o rei ouviu suas palavras e elas pareceram boas aos seus olhos, e ele enviou e chamou Terah, e Terah veio diante do rei.

14And the king heard their words and they seemed good in his sight, and he sent and called for Terah, and Terah came before the king.

15E o rei disse a Terah, Disseram-me que um filho nasceu ontem à noite para ti, e dessa maneira foi observada nos céus em seu nascimento.

15And the king said to Terah, I have been told that a son was yesternight born to thee, and after this manner was observed in the heavens at his birth.

16E agora, portanto, dá-me a criança, para que possamos matá-la antes que o seu mal se levante contra nós, e eu te darei pelo seu valor, a tua casa cheia de prata e ouro.

16And now therefore give me the child, that we may slay him before his evil springs up against us, and I will give thee for his value, thy house full of silver and gold.

17E Terah respondeu ao rei e disse-lhe: Meu Senhor e rei, ouvi as tuas palavras, e o teu servo fará tudo o que o seu rei deseja.

17And Terah answered the king and said to him: My Lord and king, I have heard thy words, and thy servant shall do all that his king desireth.

18Mas meu senhor e rei, eu te contarei o que aconteceu comigo ontem à noite, para que eu possa ver que conselho o rei dará ao seu servo, e então responderei ao rei sobre o que ele acabou de falar; e o rei disse: Fala.

18But my lord and king, I will tell thee what happened to me yesternight, that I may see what advice the king will give his servant, and then I will answer the king upon what he has just spoken; and the king said, Speak.

19E Terah disse ao rei: Ayon, filho de Mored, veio até mim ontem à noite, dizendo:

19And Terah said to the king, Ayon, son of Mored, came to me yesternight, saying,

20Dá-me o grande e belo cavalo que o rei te deu, e eu te darei prata e ouro, e palha e forragem pelo seu valor; e eu lhe disse: Espera até que eu fale com o rei a respeito das tuas palavras, e eis que tudo o que o rei disser, isso farei.

20Give unto me the great and beautiful horse that the king gave thee, and I will give thee silver and gold, and straw and provender for its value; and I said to him, Wait till I see the king concerning thy words, and behold whatever the king saith, that will I do.

21E agora, meu senhor e rei, eis que te contei esta coisa, e o conselho que meu rei dará a seu servo, esse eu seguirei.

21And now my lord and king, behold I have made this thing known to thee, and the advice which my king will give unto his servant, that will I follow.

22E o rei ouviu as palavras de Terah, e sua raiva se acendeu e ele o considerou à luz de um tolo.

22And the king heard the words of Terah, and his anger was kindled and he considered him in the light of a fool.

23E o rei respondeu a Terah, e ele disse-lhe: Você é tão tolo, ignorante ou deficiente em entendimento, para fazer esta coisa, dar o seu belo cavalo por prata e ouro ou mesmo por palha e forragem?

23And the king answered Terah, and he said to him, Art thou so silly, ignorant, or deficient in understanding, to do this thing, to give thy beautiful horse for silver and gold or even for straw and provender?

24Você está com tanta falta de prata e ouro que deveria fazer isso, porque não consegue obter palha e forragem para alimentar seu cavalo? e o que é prata e ouro para você, ou palha e forragem, para que você dê aquele belo cavalo que eu te dei, como o qual não há nenhum em toda a terra?

24Art thou so short of silver and gold, that thou shouldst do this thing, because thou canst not obtain straw and provender to feed thy horse? and what is silver and gold to thee, or straw and provender, that thou shouldst give away that fine horse which I gave thee, like which there is none to be had on the whole earth?

25E o rei parou de falar, e Terah respondeu ao rei, dizendo: Assim falou o rei ao seu servo;

25And the king left off speaking, and Terah answered the king, saying, Like unto this has the king spoken to his servant;

26Rogo-te, meu senhor e rei, o que é isso que me disseste, dizendo: Dá teu filho para que o matemos, e eu te darei prata e ouro pelo seu valor; o que farei com a prata e o ouro depois da morte do meu filho? quem me herdará? certamente então, quando eu morrer, a prata e o ouro retornarão ao meu rei que os deu.

26I beseech thee, my lord and king, what is this which thou didst say unto me, saying, Give thy son that we may slay him, and I will give thee silver and gold for his value; what shall I do with silver and gold after the death of my son? who shall inherit me? surely then at my death, the silver and gold will return to my king who gave it.

27E quando o rei ouviu as palavras de Terah, e a parábola que ele trouxe sobre o rei, isso o entristeceu muito e ele ficou irritado com isso, e sua raiva queimou dentro dele.

27And when the king heard the words of Terah, and the parable which he brought concerning the king, it grieved him greatly and he was vexed at this thing, and his anger burned within him.

28E Terah viu que a ira do rei estava acesa contra ele, e ele respondeu ao rei, dizendo: Tudo o que eu tenho está no poder do rei; tudo o que o rei desejar fazer ao seu servo, que ele faça, sim, até mesmo meu filho, ele está no poder do rei, sem valor em troca, ele e seus dois irmãos que são mais velhos que ele.

28And Terah saw that the anger of the king was kindled against him, and he answered the king, saying, All that I have is in the king's power; whatever the king desireth to do to his servant, that let him do, yea, even my son, he is in the king's power, without value in exchange, he and his two brothers that are older than he.

29E o rei disse a Terah: Não, mas comprarei teu filho mais novo por um preço.

29And the king said to Terah, No, but I will purchase thy younger son for a price.

30E Terah respondeu ao rei, dizendo: Rogo-te, meu senhor e rei, que deixe teu servo falar uma palavra diante de ti, e que o rei ouça a palavra de seu servo, e Terah disse: Deixe meu rei me dar três dias até que eu considere este assunto dentro de mim mesmo, e consulte minha família sobre as palavras de meu rei; e ele pressionou fortemente o rei para concordar com isso.

30And Terah answered the king, saying, I beseech thee my lord and king to let thy servant speak a word before thee, and let the king hear the word of his servant, and Terah said, Let my king give me three days' time till I consider this matter within myself, and consult with my family concerning the words of my king; and he pressed the king greatly to agree to this.

31E o rei ouviu Terah, e ele fez isso e deu-lhe três dias, e Terah saiu da presença do rei, e ele voltou para casa, para sua família e falou-lhes todas as palavras do rei; e o povo ficou com muito medo.

31And the king hearkened to Terah, and he did so and he gave him three days' time, and Terah went out from the king's presence, and he came home to his family and spoke to them all the words of the king; and the people were greatly afraid.

32E foi no terceiro dia que o rei enviou a Terá, dizendo: Manda-me teu filho por um preço, como te falei; e se você não fizer isso, eu enviarei e matarei tudo o que você tem em sua casa, de modo que você não terá nem mesmo um cachorro sobrando.

32And it was in the third day that the king sent to Terah, saying, Send me thy son for a price as I spoke to thee; and shouldst thou not do this, I will send and slay all thou hast in thy house, so that thou shalt not even have a dog remaining.

33E Terah apressou-se (como a coisa era urgente da parte do rei), e ele pegou uma criança de um de seus servos, que sua serva havia nascido para ele naquele dia, e Terah trouxe a criança ao rei e recebeu valor por ele.

33And Terah hastened, (as the thing was urgent from the king), and he took a child from one of his servants, which his handmaid had born to him that day, and Terah brought the child to the king and received value for him.

34E o Senhor estava com Terá neste assunto, para que Nimrod não causasse a morte de Abrão, e o rei tirou a criança de Terá e com todas as suas forças bateu sua cabeça no chão, pois ele pensou que tinha sido Abrão; e isso foi escondido dele desde aquele dia, e foi esquecido pelo rei, pois era a vontade da Providência não sofrer a morte de Abrão.

34And the Lord was with Terah in this matter, that Nimrod might not cause Abram's death, and the king took the child from Terah and with all his might dashed his head to the ground, for he thought it had been Abram; and this was concealed from him from that day, and it was forgotten by the king, as it was the will of Providence not to suffer Abram's death.

35E Terah levou Abrão, seu filho, secretamente, junto com sua mãe e ama, e ele os escondeu em uma caverna, e ele lhes trouxe suas provisões mensalmente.

35And Terah took Abram his son secretly, together with his mother and nurse, and he concealed them in a cave, and he brought them their provisions monthly.

36E o Senhor estava com Abrão na caverna e ele cresceu, e Abrão ficou na caverna dez anos, e o rei e seus príncipes, adivinhos e sábios, pensaram que o rei havia matado Abrão.

36And the Lord was with Abram in the cave and he grew up, and Abram was in the cave ten years, and the king and his princes, soothsayers and sages, thought that the king had killed Abram.
