Livro de Jasher 78

1Naquele tempo morreu Baal Channan, filho de Acbor, rei de Edom, e foi sepultado em sua casa, na terra de Edom.

1At that time died Baal Channan son of Achbor, king of Edom, and was buried in his house in the land of Edom.

2E depois da sua morte os filhos de Esaú enviaram à terra de Edom, e tomaram de lá um homem que estava em Edom, cujo nome era Hadad, e o fizeram rei sobre eles no lugar de Baal Channan, seu rei.

2And after his death the children of Esau sent to the land of Edom, and took from there a man who was in Edom, whose name was Hadad, and they made him king over them in the place of Baal Channan, their king.

3E Hadad reinou sobre os filhos de Edom quarenta e oito anos.

3And Hadad reigned over the children of Edom forty-eight years.

4E quando ele reinou, ele resolveu lutar contra os filhos de Moabe, para colocá-los sob o poder dos filhos de Esaú como estavam antes, mas ele não foi capaz, porque os filhos de Moabe ouviram isso, e eles se levantaram e se apressaram em eleger um rei entre seus irmãos.

4And when he reigned he resolved to fight against the children of Moab, to bring them under the power of the children of Esau as they were before, but he was not able, because the children of Moab heard this thing, and they rose up and hastened to elect a king over them from amongst their brethren.

5E depois eles reuniram um grande povo e enviaram aos filhos de Amom, seus irmãos, ajuda para lutar contra Hadad, rei de Edom.

5And they afterward gathered together a great people, and sent to the children of Ammon their brethren for help to fight against Hadad king of Edom.

6E Hadad ouviu o que os filhos de Moabe tinham feito, e teve muito medo deles, e se absteve de lutar contra eles.

6And Hadad heard the thing which the children of Moab had done, and was greatly afraid of them, and refrained from fighting against them.

7Naqueles dias, Moisés, filho de Anrão, em Midiã, tomou por mulher Zípora, filha de Reuel, o midianita.

7In those days Moses, the son of Amram, in Midian, took Zipporah, the daughter of Reuel the Midianite, for a wife.

8E Zípora andou nos caminhos das filhas de Jacó, ela não era nada menos que a justiça de Sara, Rebeca, Raquel e Lia.

8And Zipporah walked in the ways of the daughters of Jacob, she was nothing short of the righteousness of Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah.

9E Zípora concebeu e deu à luz um filho e chamou o seu nome Gérson, pois disse: Eu era um estranho em uma terra estrangeira; mas ele não circuncidou o prepúcio, por ordem de Reuel, seu sogro.

9And Zipporah conceived and bare a son and he called his name Gershom, for he said, I was a stranger in a foreign land; but he circumcised not his foreskin, at the command of Reuel his father-in-law.

10E ela concebeu novamente e deu à luz um filho, mas circuncidou seu prepúcio, e chamou seu nome Eliezer, pois Moisés disse: Porque o Deus de meus pais foi minha ajuda, e me livrou da espada de Faraó.

10And she conceived again and bare a son, but circumcised his foreskin, and called his name Eliezer, for Moses said, Because the God of my fathers was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh.

11E Faraó, rei do Egito, aumentou grandemente o trabalho dos filhos de Israel naqueles dias e continuou a tornar mais pesado o seu jugo sobre os filhos de Israel.

11And Pharaoh king of Egypt greatly increased the labor of the children of Israel in those days, and continued to make his yoke heavier upon the children of Israel.

12E ele ordenou que fosse feita uma proclamação no Egito, dizendo: Não dêem mais palha ao povo para fazer tijolos, deixe-os ir e juntar a palha que puderem encontrar.

12And he ordered a proclamation to be made in Egypt, saying, Give no more straw to the people to make bricks with, let them go and gather themselves straw as they can find it.

13Também a história dos tijolos que eles farão, deixe-os dar a cada dia, e não diminua nada deles, pois eles estão ociosos em seu trabalho.

13Also the tale of bricks which they shall make let them give each day, and diminish nothing from them, for they are idle in their work.

14E os filhos de Israel ouviram isso e lamentaram e suspiraram e clamaram ao Senhor por causa da amargura de suas almas.

14And the children of Israel heard this, and they mourned and sighed, and they cried unto the Lord on account of the bitterness of their souls.

15E o Senhor ouviu os clamores dos filhos de Israel e viu a opressão com que os egípcios os oprimiam.

15And the Lord heard the cries of the children of Israel, and saw the oppression with which the Egyptians oppressed them.

16E o Senhor teve zelo pelo seu povo e pela sua herança, e ouviu a voz deles, e decidiu tirá-los da aflição do Egito, para dar-lhes a terra de Canaã como possessão.

16And the Lord was jealous of his people and his inheritance, and heard their voice, and he resolved to take them out of the affliction of Egypt, to give them the land of Canaan for a possession.
