Livro de Jasher 72

1E foi naqueles dias que houve uma grande guerra entre os filhos de Cush e os filhos do leste e da Síria, e eles se rebelaram contra o rei de Cush em cujas mãos estavam.

1And it was in those days that there was a great war between the children of Cush and the children of the east and Aram, and they rebelled against the king of Cush in whose hands they were.

2Então Kikianus, rei de Cush, saiu com todos os filhos de Cush, um povo numeroso como a areia, e foi lutar contra Aram e os filhos do leste, para submetê-los.

2So Kikianus king of Cush went forth with all the children of Cush, a people numerous as the sand, and he went to fight against Aram and the children of the east, to bring them under subjection.

3E quando Kikianus saiu, ele deixou Balaão, o mago, com seus dois filhos, para guardar a cidade, e a classe mais baixa do povo da terra.

3And when Kikianus went out, he left Balaam the magician, with his two sons, to guard the city, and the lowest sort of the people of the land.

4Então Kikianus saiu para Aram e os filhos do leste, e ele lutou contra eles e os feriu, e todos eles caíram feridos diante de Kikianus e seu povo.

4So Kikianus went forth to Aram and the children of the east, and he fought against them and smote them, and they all fell down wounded before Kikianus and his people.

5E ele levou muitos deles cativos e os submeteu como no início, e acampou em suas terras para receber tributos deles como de costume.

5And he took many of them captives and he brought them under subjection as at first, and he encamped upon their land to take tribute from them as usual.

6E Balaão, filho de Beor, quando o rei de Cush o deixou para guardar a cidade e os pobres da cidade, ele se levantou e aconselhou o povo da terra a se rebelar contra o rei Kikianus, para não deixá-lo entrar na cidade quando ele deveria voltar para casa.

6And Balaam the son of Beor, when the king of Cush had left him to guard the city and the poor of the city, he rose up and advised with the people of the land to rebel against king Kikianus, not to let him enter the city when he should come home.

7E o povo da terra lhe ouviu, e jurou-lhe e constituiu-o rei sobre eles, e a seus dois filhos como capitães do exército.

7And the people of the land hearkened to him, and they swore to him and made him king over them, and his two sons for captains of the army.

8Então eles se levantaram e levantaram os muros da cidade nos dois cantos, e construíram um edifício extremamente forte.

8So they rose up and raised the walls of the city at the two corners, and they built an exceeding strong building.

9And at the third corner they dug ditches without number, between the city and the river which surrounded the whole land of Cush, and they made the waters of the river burst forth there.

10At the fourth corner they collected numerous serpents by their incantations and enchantments, and they fortified the city and dwelt therein, and no one went out or in before them.

11And Kikianus fought against Aram and the children of the east and he subdued them as before, and they gave him their usual tribute, and he went and returned to his land.

12E quando Kikianus, o rei de Cush, se aproximou de sua cidade e todos os capitães das forças com ele, eles levantaram os olhos e viram que os muros da cidade estavam construídos e muito elevados, então os homens ficaram surpresos com isso.

12And when Kikianus the king of Cush approached his city and all the captains of the forces with him, they lifted up their eyes and saw that the walls of the city were built up and greatly elevated, so the men were astonished at this.

13E eles disseram um ao outro: É porque eles viram que estávamos atrasados, na batalha, e tiveram muito medo de nós, portanto eles fizeram isso e ergueram os muros da cidade e os fortificaram para que os reis de Canaã não pudessem vir em batalha contra eles.

13And they said one to the other, It is because they saw that we were delayed, in battle, and were greatly afraid of us, therefore have they done this thing and raised the city walls and fortified them so that the kings of Canaan might not come in battle against them.

14Então o rei e as tropas se aproximaram da porta da cidade e olharam para cima e eis que todas as portas da cidade estavam fechadas, e chamaram as sentinelas, dizendo: Abram-nos, para que entremos na cidade.

14So the king and the troops approached the city door and they looked up and behold, all the gates of the city were closed, and they called out to the sentinels, saying, Open unto us, that we may enter the city.

15Mas as sentinelas recusaram-se a abrir-lhes por ordem de Balaão, o mágico, seu rei, e permitiram que não entrassem na sua cidade.

15But the sentinels refused to open to them by the order of Balaam the magician, their king, they suffered them not to enter their city.

16Então eles travaram uma batalha contra eles em frente ao portão da cidade, e cento e trinta homens do exército em Kikianus caíram naquele dia.

16So they raised a battle with them opposite the city gate, and one hundred and thirty men of the army at Kikianus fell on that day.

17E no dia seguinte eles continuaram a lutar e lutaram na beira do rio; eles tentaram passar, mas não conseguiram, então alguns deles afundaram nas covas e morreram.

17And on the next day they continued to fight and they fought at the side of the river; they endeavored to pass but were not able, so some of them sank in the pits and died.

18So the king ordered them to cut down trees to make rafts, upon which they might pass to them, and they did so.

19E quando chegaram ao local das valas, as águas giraram em moinhos, e duzentos homens em dez jangadas morreram afogados.

19And when they came to the place of the ditches, the waters revolved by mills, and two hundred men upon ten rafts were drowned.

20E no terceiro dia eles vieram lutar ao lado onde as serpentes estavam, mas não puderam se aproximar de lá, pois as serpentes mataram deles cento e setenta homens, e eles pararam de lutar contra Cush, e sitiaram Cush por nove anos, ninguém saiu ou entrou.

20And on the third day they came to fight at the side where the serpents were, but they could not approach there, for the serpents slew of them one hundred and seventy men, and they ceased fighting against Cush, and they besieged Cush for nine years, no person came out or in.

21Naquela época em que a guerra e o cerco eram contra Cuxe, Moisés fugiu do Egito do Faraó que procurava matá-lo por ter matado o egípcio.

21At that time that the war and the siege were against Cush, Moses fled from Egypt from Pharaoh who sought to kill him for having slain the Egyptian.

22E Moisés tinha dezoito anos quando fugiu do Egito da presença de Faraó, e ele fugiu e escapou para o acampamento de Kikianus, que naquela época estava sitiando Cush.

22And Moses was eighteen years old when he fled from Egypt from the presence of Pharaoh, and he fled and escaped to the camp of Kikianus, which at that time was besieging Cush.

23E Moisés esteve nove anos no acampamento de Kikianus, rei de Cush, durante todo o tempo em que eles sitiaram Cush, e Moisés saiu e entrou com eles.

23And Moses was nine years in the camp of Kikianus king of Cush, all the time that they were besieging Cush, and Moses went out and came in with them.

24E o rei e os príncipes e todos os guerreiros amavam a Moisés, porque ele era grande e digno, sua estatura era como a de um leão nobre, seu rosto era como o sol, e sua força era como a de um leão, e ele era conselheiro do rei.

24And the king and princes and all the fighting men loved Moses, for he was great and worthy, his stature was like a noble lion, his face was like the sun, and his strength was like that of a lion, and he was counsellor to the king.

25E no final de nove anos, Kikianus foi acometido por uma doença mortal, e sua doença prevaleceu sobre ele, e ele morreu no sétimo dia.

25And at the end of nine years, Kikianus was seized with a mortal disease, and his illness prevailed over him, and he died on the seventh day.

26Então os seus servos o embalsamaram, levaram-no e sepultaram-no defronte da porta da cidade, ao norte da terra do Egito.

26So his servants embalmed him and carried him and buried him opposite the city gate to the north of the land of Egypt.

27E construíram sobre ele um edifício elegante, forte e alto, e colocaram grandes pedras abaixo.

27And they built over him an elegant strong and high building, and they placed great stones below.

28E os escribas do rei gravaram naquelas pedras todo o poder de seu rei Kikianus, e todas as suas batalhas que ele travou, eis que estão escritas lá neste dia.

28And the king's scribes engraved upon those stones all the might of their king Kikianus, and all his battles which he had fought, behold they are written there at this day.

29Agora, após a morte de Kikianus, rei de Cush, isso entristeceu muito seus homens e tropas por causa da guerra.

29Now after the death of Kikianus king of Cush it grieved his men and troops greatly on account of the war.

30Então eles disseram um ao outro: Aconselhai-nos sobre o que devemos fazer neste momento, visto que residimos no deserto há nove anos longe de nossas casas.

30So they said one to the other, Give us counsel what we are to do at this time, as we have resided in the wilderness nine years away from our homes.

31Se dissermos que lutaremos contra a cidade, muitos de nós cairemos feridos ou mortos, e se permanecermos aqui no cerco, também morreremos.

31If we say we will fight against the city many of us will fall wounded or killed, and if we remain here in the siege we shall also die.

32Pois agora todos os reis da Síria e dos filhos do Oriente ouvirão que nosso rei está morto e nos atacarão repentinamente de maneira hostil e lutarão contra nós e não deixarão nenhum vestígio de nós.

32For now all the kings of Aram and of the children of the east will hear that our king is dead, and they will attack us suddenly in a hostile manner, and they will fight against us and leave no remnant of us.

33Agora, pois, vamos e constituamos um rei sobre nós, e permaneçamos sitiados até que a cidade nos seja entregue.

33Now therefore let us go and make a king over us, and let us remain in the siege until the city is delivered up to us.

34E eles desejaram escolher naquele dia um homem para rei do exército de Kikianus, e não encontraram nenhum objeto de sua escolha como Moisés para reinar sobre eles.

34And they wished to choose on that day a man for king from the army of Kikianus, and they found no object of their choice like Moses to reign over them.

35E eles se apressaram e despiram cada homem suas vestes e as lançaram no chão, e fizeram um grande montão e colocaram Moisés sobre ele.

35And they hastened and stripped off each man his garments and cast them upon the ground, and they made a great heap and placed Moses thereon.

36E eles se levantaram e tocaram trombetas e clamaram diante dele, e disseram: Viva o rei, viva o rei!

36And they rose up and blew with trumpets and called out before him, and said, May the king live, may the king live!

37E todo o povo e nobres juraram-lhe dar-lhe por esposa Adonias, a rainha, o etíope, esposa de Kikianus, e eles fizeram Moisés rei sobre eles naquele dia.

37And all the people and nobles swore unto him to give him for a wife Adoniah the queen, the Cushite, wife of Kikianus, and they made Moses king over them on that day.

38E todo o povo de Cuxe fez naquele dia uma proclamação, dizendo: Todo homem dará a Moisés alguma coisa do que possui.

38And all the people of Cush issued a proclamation on that day, saying, Every man must give something to Moses of what is in his possession.

39E espalharam um lençol sobre a pilha, e cada homem lançou nele algo do que tinha, um brinco de ouro e o outro uma moeda.

39And they spread out a sheet upon the heap, and every man cast into it something of what he had, one a gold earring and the other a coin.

40Também de pedras de ônix, bdélio, pérolas e mármore os filhos de Cush lançaram a Moisés na pilha, também prata e ouro em grande abundância.

40Also of onyx stones, bdellium, pearls and marble did the children of Cush cast unto Moses upon the heap, also silver and gold in great abundance.

41E Moisés tomou toda a prata e ouro, todos os vasos, e as pedras de bdélio e ônix, que todos os filhos de Cush lhe tinham dado, e os colocou entre os seus tesouros.

41And Moses took all the silver and gold, all the vessels, and the bdellium and onyx stones, which all the children of Cush had given to him, and he placed them amongst his treasures.

42E Moisés reinou sobre os filhos de Cush naquele dia, no lugar de Kikianus, rei de Cush.

42And Moses reigned over the children of Cush on that day, in the place of Kikianus king of Cush.
