Livro de Jasher 67

1Havia na terra do Egito um homem da descendência de Levi, cujo nome era Anrão, filho de Queate, filho de Levi, filho de Israel.

1There was a man in the land of Egypt of the seed of Levi, whose name was Amram, the son of Kehath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

2E este homem foi e tomou uma esposa, a saber, Joquebede, filha de Levi, irmã de seu pai, e ela tinha cento e vinte e seis anos de idade, e ele veio até ela.

2And this man went and took a wife, namely Jochebed the daughter of Levi his father's sister, and she was one hundred and twenty-six years old, and he came unto her.

3E a mulher concebeu e deu à luz uma filha, e ela chamou seu nome de Miriam, porque naqueles dias os egípcios haviam amargurado a vida dos filhos de Israel.

3And the woman conceived and bare a daughter, and she called her name Miriam, because in those days the Egyptians had embittered the lives of the children of Israel.

4E ela concebeu novamente e deu à luz um filho e chamou seu nome de Aarão, pois nos dias de sua concepção, Faraó começou a derramar o sangue dos filhos do sexo masculino de Israel.

4And she conceived again and bare a son and she called his name Aaron, for in the days of her conception, Pharaoh began to spill the blood of the male children of Israel.

5Naqueles dias morreu Zefo, filho de Elifaz, filho de Esaú, rei de Quitim, e Janeas reinou em seu lugar.

5In those days died Zepho the son of Eliphaz, son of Esau, king of Chittim, and Janeas reigned in his stead.

6E o tempo que Zepho reinou sobre os filhos de Chittim foi de cinquenta anos, e ele morreu e foi sepultado na cidade de Nabna, na terra de Chittim.

6And the time that Zepho reigned over the children of Chittim was fifty years, and he died and was buried in the city of Nabna in the land of Chittim.

7E Janeas, um dos homens poderosos dos filhos de Chittim, reinou depois dele e ele reinou cinquenta anos.

7And Janeas, one of the mighty men of the children of Chittim, reigned after him and he reigned fifty years.

8E foi depois da morte do rei de Quitim que Balaão, filho de Beor, fugiu da terra de Quitim, e ele foi e veio ao Egito para Faraó, rei do Egito.

8And it was after the death of the king of Chittim that Balaam the son of Beor fled from the land of Chittim, and he went and came to Egypt to Pharaoh king of Egypt.

9E Faraó o recebeu com grande honra, porque ele tinha ouvido falar de sua sabedoria, e deu-lhe presentes e fez dele um conselheiro, e o engrandeceu.

9And Pharaoh received him with great honor, for he had heard of his wisdom, and he gave him presents and made him for a counsellor, and aggrandized him.

10E Balaão habitou no Egito, em honra com todos os nobres do rei, e os nobres o exaltaram, porque todos desejavam aprender sua sabedoria.

10And Balaam dwelt in Egypt, in honor with all the nobles of the king, and the nobles exalted him, because they all coveted to learn his wisdom.

11E no centésimo trigésimo ano da descida de Israel ao Egito, Faraó sonhou que estava sentado em seu trono real, e ergueu os olhos e viu um velho de pé diante dele, e havia balanças nas mãos do velho, balanças como as usadas pelos mercadores.

11And in the hundred and thirtieth year of Israel's going down to Egypt, Pharaoh dreamed that he was sitting upon his kingly throne, and lifted up his eyes and saw an old man standing before him, and there were scales in the hands of the old man, such scales as are used by merchants.

12E o velho pegou a balança e pendurou-a diante do Faraó.

12And the old man took the scales and hung them before Pharaoh.

13E o velho tomou todos os anciãos do Egito e todos os seus nobres e grandes homens, e os amarrou e os colocou em uma balança.

13And the old man took all the elders of Egypt and all its nobles and great men, and he tied them together and put them in one scale.

14E ele pegou um cabrito de leite e colocou na outra balança, e o cabrito preponderou sobre tudo.

14And he took a milk kid and put it into the other scale, and the kid preponderated over all.

15E Faraó ficou surpreso com esta visão terrível, porque o cabrito deveria preponderar sobre tudo, e Faraó acordou e eis que era um sonho.

15And Pharaoh was astonished at this dreadful vision, why the kid should preponderate over all, and Pharaoh awoke and behold it was a dream.

16E Faraó levantou-se de manhã cedo e chamou todos os seus servos e contou-lhes o sonho, e os homens ficaram com muito medo.

16And Pharaoh rose up early in the morning and called all his servants and related to them the dream, and the men were greatly afraid.

17E o rei disse a todos os seus sábios: Interpretem, peço-vos, o sonho que sonhei, para que eu o conheça.

17And the king said to all his wise men, Interpret I pray you the dream which I dreamed, that I may know it.

18E Balaão, filho de Beor, respondeu ao rei e disse-lhe: Isto não significa outra coisa senão um grande mal que surgirá contra o Egito nos últimos dias.

18And Balaam the son of Beor answered the king and said unto him, This means nothing else but a great evil that will spring up against Egypt in the latter days.

19Pois nascerá a Israel um filho que destruirá todo o Egito e seus habitantes, e tirará os israelitas do Egito com mão poderosa.

19For a son will be born to Israel who will destroy all Egypt and its inhabitants, and bring forth the Israelites from Egypt with a mighty hand.

20Agora, portanto, ó rei, aconselha-te sobre este assunto, para que possas destruir a esperança dos filhos de Israel e a sua expectativa, antes que este mal surja contra o Egito.

20Now therefore, O king, take counsel upon this matter, that you may destroy the hope of the children of Israel and their expectation, before this evil arise against Egypt.

21E o rei disse a Balaão: E que faremos a Israel? certamente, de uma certa maneira, a princípio aconselhamos contra eles e não conseguimos prevalecer sobre eles.

21And the king said unto Balaam, And what shall we do unto Israel? surely after a certain manner did we at first counsel against them and could not prevail over them.

22Agora, portanto, também vos dou conselhos contra eles, pelos quais possamos prevalecer sobre eles.

22Now therefore give you also advice against them by which we may prevail over them.

23E Balaão respondeu ao rei, dizendo: Envia agora e chama os teus dois conselheiros, e veremos qual é o conselho deles sobre este assunto e depois o teu servo falará.

23And Balaam answered the king, saying, Send now and call thy two counsellors, and we will see what their advice is upon this matter and afterward thy servant will speak.

24E o rei enviou e chamou os seus dois conselheiros, Reuel, o midianita, e Jó, o uzita, e eles vieram e sentaram-se diante do rei.

24And the king sent and called his two counsellors Reuel the Midianite and Job the Uzite, and they came and sat before the king.

25E o rei lhes disse: Eis que ambos ouvistes o sonho que sonhei e a sua interpretação; agora, portanto, aconselhe-se, saiba e veja o que deve ser feito aos filhos de Israel, para que possamos prevalecer sobre eles, antes que seu mal se levante contra nós.

25And the king said to them, Behold you have both heard the dream which I have dreamed, and the interpretation thereof; now therefore give counsel and know and see what is to be done to the children of Israel, whereby we may prevail over them, before their evil shall spring up against us.

26E Reuel, o midianita, respondeu ao rei e disse: Viva o rei, viva o rei para sempre.

26And Reuel the Midianite answered the king and said, May the king live, may the king live forever.

27Se parecer bem ao rei, desista dos hebreus e deixe-os, e não estenda a mão contra eles.

27If it seem good to the king, let him desist from the Hebrews and leave them, and let him not stretch forth his hand against them.

28Pois estes são aqueles que o Senhor escolheu nos dias antigos e tomou como quinhão de sua herança dentre todas as nações da terra e os reis da terra; e quem foi que estendeu a mão contra eles impunemente, de quem o seu Deus não se vingou?

28For these are they whom the Lord chose in days of old, and took as the lot of his inheritance from amongst all the nations of the earth and the kings of the earth; and who is there that stretched his hand against them with impunity, of whom their God was not avenged?

29Certamente você sabe que quando Abraão desceu ao Egito, Faraó, o antigo rei do Egito, viu Sara, sua esposa, e a tomou por esposa, porque Abraão disse: Ela é minha irmã, pois ele estava com medo de que os homens do Egito o matassem por causa de sua esposa.

29Surely thou knowest that when Abraham went down to Egypt, Pharaoh, the former king of Egypt, saw Sarah his wife, and took her for a wife, because Abraham said, She is my sister, for he was afraid, lest the men of Egypt should slay him on account of his wife.

30E quando o rei do Egito levou Sara, então Deus feriu ele e sua família com pesadas pragas, até que ele devolveu a Abraão sua esposa Sara, então ele foi curado.

30And when the king of Egypt had taken Sarah then God smote him and his household with heavy plagues, until he restored unto Abraham his wife Sarah, then was he healed.

31E Abimeleque, o gerarita, rei dos filisteus, Deus puniu por causa de Sara, esposa de Abraão, ao tapar todo ventre, desde o homem até o animal.

31And Abimelech the Gerarite, king of the Philistines, God punished on account of Sarah wife of Abraham, in stopping up every womb from man to beast.

32Quando o Deus deles veio a Abimeleque no sonho da noite e o aterrorizou para que ele pudesse devolver a Abraão Sara a quem ele havia levado, e depois todo o povo de Gerar foi punido por causa de Sara, e Abraão orou a seu Deus por eles, e ele foi suplicado por ele, e ele os curou.

32When their God came to Abimelech in the dream of night and terrified him in order that he might restore to Abraham Sarah whom he had taken, and afterward all the people of Gerar were punished on account of Sarah, and Abraham prayed to his God for them, and he was entreated of him, and he healed them.

33E Abimeleque temeu todo esse mal que veio sobre ele e seu povo, e ele voltou para Abraão, sua esposa Sara, e deu-lhe com ela muitos presentes.

33And Abimelech feared all this evil that came upon him and his people, and he returned to Abraham his wife Sarah, and gave him with her many gifts.

34Ele fez o mesmo com Isaque quando o expulsou de Gerar, e Deus fez coisas maravilhosas com ele, que todos os cursos de água de Gerar secaram e suas árvores produtivas não produziram.

34He did so also to Isaac when he had driven him from Gerar, and God had done wonderful things to him, that all the water courses of Gerar were dried up, and their productive trees did not bring forth.

35Até que Abimeleque de Gerar, e Auzate, um de seus amigos, e Pichol, o capitão de seu exército, foram até ele e se curvaram e prostraram-se diante dele até o chão.

35Until Abimelech of Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Pichol the captain of his host, went to him and they bent and bowed down before him to the ground.

36E eles pediram-lhe que suplicasse por eles, e ele orou ao Senhor por eles, e o Senhor foi suplicado por ele e ele os curou.

36And they requested of him to supplicate for them, and he prayed to the Lord for them, and the Lord was entreated of him and he healed them.

37Também Jacó, o homem simples, foi libertado pela sua integridade das mãos de seu irmão Esaú, e das mãos de Labão, o sírio, irmão de sua mãe, que havia procurado a sua morte; da mesma forma, das mãos de todos os reis de Canaã que se uniram contra ele e seus filhos para destruí-los, e o Senhor os livrou de suas mãos, que se voltaram contra eles e os feriram, pois quem alguma vez estendeu a mão contra eles impunemente?

37Jacob also, the plain man, was delivered through his integrity from the hand of his brother Esau, and the hand of Laban the Syrian his mother's brother, who had sought his life; likewise from the hand of all the kings of Canaan who had come together against him and his children to destroy them, and the Lord delivered them out of their hands, that they turned upon them and smote them, for who had ever stretched forth his hand against them with impunity?

38Certamente Faraó, o primeiro, pai de teu pai, elevou José, filho de Jacó, acima de todos os príncipes da terra do Egito, quando viu sua sabedoria, pois por meio de sua sabedoria ele libertou da fome todos os habitantes da terra.

38Surely Pharaoh the former, thy father's father, raised Joseph the son of Jacob above all the princes of the land of Egypt, when he saw his wisdom, for through his wisdom he rescued all the inhabitants of the land from the famine.

39Depois disso, ele ordenou que Jacó e seus filhos descessem ao Egito, para que, através de sua virtude, a terra do Egito e a terra de Gósen pudessem ser libertadas da fome.

39After which he ordered Jacob and his children to come down to Egypt, in order that through their virtue, the land of Egypt and the land of Goshen might be delivered from the famine.

40Agora, portanto, se parece bem aos teus olhos, deixa de destruir os filhos de Israel, mas se não for da tua vontade que habitem no Egito, envia-os daqui, para que possam ir para a terra de Canaã, a terra onde peregrinaram seus antepassados.

40Now therefore if it seem good in thine eyes, cease from destroying the children of Israel, but if it be not thy will that they shall dwell in Egypt, send them forth from here, that they may go to the land of Canaan, the land where their ancestors sojourned.

41E quando Faraó ouviu as palavras de Jetro, ficou muito irado com ele, de modo que se levantou envergonhado da presença do rei, e foi para Midiã, sua terra, e levou consigo a vara de José.

41And when Pharaoh heard the words of Jethro he was very angry with him, so that he rose with shame from the king's presence, and went to Midian, his land, and took Joseph's stick with him.

42E o rei disse a Jó, o uzita: O que dizes, Jó, e qual é o teu conselho a respeito dos hebreus?

42And the king said to Job the Uzite, What sayest thou Job, and what is thy advice respecting the Hebrews?

43Então Jó disse ao rei: Eis que todos os habitantes da terra estão em teu poder, faça o rei o que bem parecer aos seus olhos.

43So Job said to the king, Behold all the inhabitants of the land are in thy power, let the king do as it seems good in his eyes.

44E o rei disse a Balaão: O que dizes, Balaão, fala a tua palavra para que a ouçamos.

44And the king said unto Balaam, What dost thou say, Balaam, speak thy word that we may hear it.

45E Balaão disse ao rei: De tudo o que o rei aconselhou contra os hebreus eles serão entregues, e o rei não poderá prevalecer sobre eles com nenhum conselho.

45And Balaam said to the king, Of all that the king has counselled against the Hebrews will they be delivered, and the king will not be able to prevail over them with any counsel.

46Pois se você pensa em diminuí-los pelo fogo flamejante, não poderá prevalecer sobre eles, pois certamente o Deus deles livrou Abraão, seu pai, de Ur dos Caldeus; e se tu pensas destruí-los com uma espada, certamente Isaque, seu pai, foi libertado dela, e um carneiro foi colocado em seu lugar.

46For if thou thinkest to lessen them by the flaming fire, thou canst not prevail over them, for surely their God delivered Abraham their father from Ur of the Chaldeans; and if thou thinkest to destroy them with a sword, surely Isaac their father was delivered from it, and a ram was placed in his stead.

47E se com trabalho árduo e rigoroso você pensa em diminuí-los, você não prevalecerá nem mesmo nisso, pois seu pai, Jacó, serviu a Labão em todos os tipos de trabalho árduo e prosperou.

47And if with hard and rigorous labor thou thinkest to lessen them, thou wilt not prevail even in this, for their father Jacob served Laban in all manner of hard work, and prospered.

48Agora, portanto, ó Rei, ouça minhas palavras, pois este é o conselho que é aconselhado contra eles, pelo qual você prevalecerá sobre eles, e do qual você não deve se afastar.

48Now therefore, O King, hear my words, for this is the counsel which is counselled against them, by which thou wilt prevail over them, and from which thou shouldst not depart.

49Se for do agrado do rei, que ele ordene que todos os seus filhos que nascerão deste dia em diante sejam jogados na água, pois assim você poderá apagar o nome deles, pois nenhum deles, nem seus pais, foram julgados dessa maneira.

49If it please the king let him order all their children which shall be born from this day forward, to be thrown into the water, for by this canst thou wipe away their name, for none of them, nor of their fathers, were tried in this manner.

50E o rei ouviu as palavras de Balaão, e a coisa agradou ao rei e aos príncipes, e o rei fez conforme a palavra de Balaão.

50And the king heard the words of Balaam, and the thing pleased the king and the princes, and the king did according to the word of Balaam.

51E o rei ordenou que fosse emitida uma proclamação e que uma lei fosse feita em toda a terra do Egito, dizendo: Todo menino nascido dos hebreus, deste dia em diante, será lançado na água.

51And the king ordered a proclamation to be issued and a law to be made throughout the land of Egypt, saying, Every male child born to the Hebrews from this day forward shall be thrown into the water.

52E Faraó chamou todos os seus servos, dizendo: Ide agora e procurai por toda a terra de Gósen, onde estão os filhos de Israel, e vede que todo filho nascido dos hebreus será lançado no rio, mas toda filha deixareis viver.

52And Pharaoh called unto all his servants, saying, Go now and seek throughout the land of Goshen where the children of Israel are, and see that every son born to the Hebrews shall be cast into the river, but every daughter you shall let live.

53E quando os filhos de Israel ouviram esta coisa que Faraó havia ordenado, de lançar seus filhos homens no rio, alguns do povo se separaram de suas esposas e outros aderiram a elas.

53And when the children of Israel heard this thing which Pharaoh had commanded, to cast their male children into the river, some of the people separated from their wives and others adhered to them.

54E daquele dia em diante, quando chegou a hora do parto para aquelas mulheres de Israel que haviam permanecido com seus maridos, elas foram ao campo para dar à luz ali, e deram à luz no campo, e deixaram seus filhos no campo e voltaram para casa.

54And from that day forward, when the time of delivery arrived to those women of Israel who had remained with their husbands, they went to the field to bring forth there, and they brought forth in the field, and left their children upon the field and returned home.

55And the Lord who had sworn to their ancestors to multiply them, sent one of his ministering angels which are in heaven to wash each child in water, to anoint and swathe it and to put into its hands two smooth stones from one of which it sucked milk and from the other honey, and he caused its hair to grow to its knees, by which it might cover itself; to comfort it and to cleave to it, through his compassion for it.

56E quando Deus teve compaixão deles e desejou multiplicá-los sobre a face da terra, ele ordenou que sua terra os recebesse para serem preservados nela até o momento de seu crescimento, após o qual a terra abriu sua boca e os vomitou e eles brotaram da cidade como a erva da terra, e a grama da floresta, e eles retornaram cada um para sua família e para a casa de seu pai, e permaneceram com eles.

56And when God had compassion over them and had desired to multiply them upon the face of the land, he ordered his earth to receive them to be preserved therein till the time of their growing up, after which the earth opened its mouth and vomited them forth and they sprouted forth from the city like the herb of the earth, and the grass of the forest, and they returned each to his family and to his father's house, and they remained with them.

57E os bebês dos filhos de Israel estavam na terra como a erva do campo, pela graça de Deus para eles.

57And the babes of the children of Israel were upon the earth like the herb of the field, through God's grace to them.

58E quando todos os egípcios viram isso, eles saíram, cada um para o seu campo com sua junta de bois e sua relha de arado, e eles araram como alguém ara a terra na época da semeadura.

58And when all the Egyptians saw this thing, they went forth, each to his field with his yoke of oxen and his ploughshare, and they ploughed it up as one ploughs the earth at seed time.

59E quando eles araram, não conseguiram ferir as crianças dos filhos de Israel, então o povo aumentou e cresceu excessivamente.

59And when they ploughed they were unable to hurt the infants of the children of Israel, so the people increased and waxed exceedingly.

60E Faraó ordenou aos seus oficiais que fossem diariamente a Gósen em busca dos bebês dos filhos de Israel.

60And Pharaoh ordered his officers daily to go to Goshen to seek for the babes of the children of Israel.

61E quando procuraram e encontraram uma, tiraram-na à força do seio de sua mãe e jogaram-na no rio, mas a criança do sexo feminino eles deixaram com sua mãe; assim fizeram os egípcios aos israelitas todos os dias.

61And when they had sought and found one, they took it from its mother's bosom by force, and threw it into the river, but the female child they left with its mother; thus did the Egyptians do to the Israelites all the days.
