Livro de Jasher 65

1E aconteceu depois destas coisas que todos os conselheiros de Faraó, rei do Egito, e todos os anciãos do Egito se reuniram e vieram perante o rei e prostraram-se no chão, e sentaram-se diante dele.

1And it came to pass after these things, that all the counsellors of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and all the elders of Egypt assembled and came before the king and bowed down to the ground, and they sat before him.

2E os conselheiros e os anciãos do Egito falaram ao rei, dizendo:

2And the counsellors and elders of Egypt spoke unto the king, saying,

3Eis que o povo dos filhos de Israel é maior e mais poderoso do que nós, e tu conheces todo o mal que eles nos fizeram no caminho, quando voltamos da batalha.

3Behold the people of the children of Israel is greater and mightier than we are, and thou knowest all the evil which they did to us in the road when we returned from battle.

4E tu também viste seu forte poder, pois esse poder lhes vem de seus pais, pois apenas alguns homens se levantaram contra um povo numeroso como a areia e os feriram ao fio da espada, e por si mesmos nenhum deles caiu, de modo que, se fossem numerosos, os teriam destruído completamente.

4And thou hast also seen their strong power, for this power is unto them from their fathers, for but a few men stood up against a people numerous as the sand, and smote them at the edge of the sword, and of themselves not one has fallen, so that if they had been numerous they would then have utterly destroyed them.

5Agora, portanto, dê-nos conselhos sobre o que fazer com eles, até que gradualmente os destruamos de entre nós, para que não se tornem numerosos demais para nós na terra.

5Now therefore give us counsel what to do with them, until we gradually destroy them from amongst us, lest they become too numerous for us in the land.

6Pois se os filhos de Israel aumentarem na terra, eles se tornarão um obstáculo para nós, e se alguma guerra acontecer, eles com sua grande força se juntarão ao nosso inimigo contra nós, e lutarão contra nós, nos destruirão da terra e irão para longe dela.

6For if the children of Israel should increase in the land, they will become an obstacle to us, and if any war should happen to take place, they with their great strength will join our enemy against us, and fight against us, destroy us from the land and go away from it.

7Então o rei respondeu aos anciãos do Egito e disse-lhes: Este é o plano aconselhado contra Israel, do qual não nos desviaremos,

7So the king answered the elders of Egypt and said unto them, This is the plan advised against Israel, from which we will not depart,

8Eis que na terra estão Pitom e Ramsés, cidades não fortificadas contra a batalha, cabe a você e a nós construí-las e fortalecê-las.

8Behold in the land are Pithom and Rameses, cities unfortified against battle, it behooves you and us to build them, and to fortify them.

9Agora, pois, vá você também e aja com astúcia para com eles, e proclame uma voz no Egito e em Gósen, por ordem do rei, dizendo:

9Now therefore go you also and act cunningly toward them, and proclaim a voice in Egypt and in Goshen at the command of the king, saying,

10Todos vós, homens do Egito, Gósen, Patros e todos os seus habitantes! o rei nos ordenou que construíssemos Pitom e Ramsés e os fortificássemos para a batalha; aqueles dentre vós de todo o Egito, dos filhos de Israel e de todos os habitantes das cidades, quiserem construir conosco, cada um receberá seu salário diariamente, por ordem do rei; então vão primeiro e façam com astúcia, e reúnam-se e venham a Pithom e Ramsés para construir.

10All ye men of Egypt, Goshen, Pathros and all their inhabitants! the king has commanded us to build Pithom and Rameses, and to fortify them for battle; who amongst you of all Egypt, of the children of Israel and of all the inhabitants of the cities, are willing to build with us, shall each have his wages given to him daily at the king's order; so go you first and do cunningly, and gather yourselves and come to Pithom and Rameses to build.

11E enquanto você estiver construindo, faça com que uma proclamação desse tipo seja feita em todo o Egito todos os dias, por ordem do rei.

11And whilst you are building, cause a proclamation of this kind to be made throughout Egypt every day at the command of the king.

12E quando alguns dos filhos de Israel vierem construir contigo, tu lhes darás o seu salário diariamente por alguns dias.

12And when some of the children of Israel shall come to build with you, you shall give them their wages daily for a few days.

13E depois que eles construírem com você para seu salário diário, afaste-se deles diariamente, um por um, em segredo, e então você se levantará e se tornará seus capatazes e oficiais, e você os deixará depois para construir sem salários, e se eles recusarem, então forçá-los com todas as suas forças a construir.

13And after they shall have built with you for their daily hire, drag yourselves away from them daily one by one in secret, and then you shall rise up and become their task-masters and officers, and you shall leave them afterward to build without wages, and should they refuse, then force them with all your might to build.

14E se você fizer isso, será bom para nós fortalecermos nossa terra contra os filhos de Israel, pois por causa do cansaço da construção e do trabalho, os filhos de Israel diminuirão, porque você os privará de suas esposas dia após dia.

14And if you do this it will be well with us to strengthen our land against the children of Israel, for on account of the fatigue of the building and the work, the children of Israel will decrease, because you will deprive them from their wives day by day.

15E todos os anciãos do Egito ouviram o conselho do rei, e o conselho pareceu bom aos seus olhos e aos olhos dos servos de Faraó, e aos olhos de todo o Egito, e eles fizeram conforme a palavra do rei.

15And all the elders of Egypt heard the counsel of the king, and the counsel seemed good in their eyes and in the eyes of the servants of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all Egypt, and they did according to the word of the king.

16E todos os servos se afastaram do rei, e fizeram uma proclamação ser feita em todo o Egito, em Tachpanches e em Gósen, e em todas as cidades que cercavam o Egito, dizendo:

16And all the servants went away from the king, and they caused a proclamation to be made in all Egypt, in Tachpanches and in Goshen, and in all the cities which surrounded Egypt, saying,

17Vocês viram o que nos fizeram os filhos de Esaú e Ismael, que vieram guerrear contra nós e queriam nos destruir.

17You have seen what the children of Esau and Ishmael did to us, who came to war against us and wished to destroy us.

18Agora, portanto, o rei nos ordenou que fortificássemos a terra, que edificássemos as cidades de Pitom e Ramsés, e que as fortificássemos para a batalha, caso eles viessem novamente contra nós.

18Now therefore the king commanded us to fortify the land, to build the cities Pithom and Rameses, and to fortify them for battle, if they should again come against us.

19Todo aquele dentre vós de todo o Egito e dos filhos de Israel que vier edificar conosco terá o seu salário diário dado pelo rei, conforme nos for ordenado por ele.

19Whosoever of you from all Egypt and from the children of Israel will come to build with us, he shall have his daily wages given by the king, as his command is unto us.

20E quando o Egito e todos os filhos de Israel ouviram tudo o que os servos de Faraó tinham falado, vieram os egípcios e os filhos de Israel para construir com os servos de Faraó, Pitom e Ramsés, mas nenhum dos filhos de Levi veio com seus irmãos para construir.

20And when Egypt and all the children of Israel heard all that the servants of Pharaoh had spoken, there came from the Egyptians, and the children of Israel to build with the servants of Pharaoh, Pithom and Rameses, but none of the children of Levi came with their brethren to build.

21E todos os servos de Faraó e seus príncipes vieram inicialmente com engano para construir com todo o Israel como trabalhadores contratados diariamente, e deram a Israel o seu salário diário no início.

21And all the servants of Pharaoh and his princes came at first with deceit to build with all Israel as daily hired laborers, and they gave to Israel their daily hire at the beginning.

22E os servos de Faraó construíram com todo o Israel, e trabalharam nessa obra com Israel durante um mês.

22And the servants of Pharaoh built with all Israel, and were employed in that work with Israel for a month.

23E no final do mês, todos os servos do Faraó começaram a retirar-se secretamente do povo de Israel diariamente.

23And at the end of the month, all the servants of Pharaoh began to withdraw secretly from the people of Israel daily.

24E Israel prosseguiu com a obra naquele tempo, mas depois recebeu o seu salário diário, porque alguns dos homens do Egito ainda estavam realizando a obra com Israel naquele tempo; portanto, os egípcios deram a Israel o seu salário naqueles dias, para que eles, os egípcios, seus colegas de trabalho, também pudessem receber o pagamento pelo seu trabalho.

24And Israel went on with the work at that time, but they then received their daily hire, because some of the men of Egypt were yet carrying on the work with Israel at that time; therefore the Egyptians gave Israel their hire in those days, in order that they, the Egyptians their fellow-workmen, might also take the pay for their labor.

25E no final de um ano e quatro meses todos os egípcios se retiraram dos filhos de Israel, de modo que os filhos de Israel ficaram sozinhos empenhados no trabalho.

25And at the end of a year and four months all the Egyptians had withdrawn from the children of Israel, so that the children of Israel were left alone engaged in the work.

26E depois que todos os egípcios se retiraram dos filhos de Israel, eles retornaram e se tornaram opressores e oficiais sobre eles, e alguns deles permaneceram sobre os filhos de Israel como capatazes, para receber deles tudo o que lhes deram como pagamento pelo seu trabalho.

26And after all the Egyptians had withdrawn from the children of Israel they returned and became oppressors and officers over them, and some of them stood over the children of Israel as task masters, to receive from them all that they gave them for the pay of their labor.

27E os egípcios assim faziam com os filhos de Israel, dia após dia, para afligirem no seu trabalho.

27And the Egyptians did in this manner to the children of Israel day by day, in order to afflict in their work.

28E todos os filhos de Israel estavam sozinhos empenhados no trabalho, e os egípcios abstiveram-se de dar qualquer pagamento aos filhos de Israel daquele momento em diante.

28And all the children of Israel were alone engaged in the labor, and the Egyptians refrained from giving any pay to the children of Israel from that time forward.

29E quando alguns dos homens de Israel se recusaram a trabalhar por não lhes ser dado o salário, então os exatores e os servos de Faraó os oprimiram e os feriram com fortes golpes, e os fizeram voltar à força, para trabalhar com seus irmãos; assim fizeram todos os egípcios aos filhos de Israel todos os dias.

29And when some of the men of Israel refused to work on account of the wages not being given to them, then the exactors and the servants of Pharaoh oppressed them and smote them with heavy blows, and made them return by force, to labor with their brethren; thus did all the Egyptians unto the children of Israel all the days.

30E todos os filhos de Israel ficaram com muito medo dos egípcios neste assunto, e todos os filhos de Israel voltaram e trabalharam sozinhos sem remuneração.

30And all the children of Israel were greatly afraid of the Egyptians in this matter, and all the children of Israel returned and worked alone without pay.

31E os filhos de Israel construíram Pitom e Ramsés, e todos os filhos de Israel fizeram o trabalho, alguns fazendo tijolos, e alguns construindo, e os filhos de Israel construíram e fortificaram toda a terra do Egito e seus muros, e os filhos de Israel estiveram envolvidos no trabalho por muitos anos, até que chegou o tempo em que o Senhor se lembrou deles e os tirou do Egito.

31And the children of Israel built Pithom and Rameses, and all the children of Israel did the work, some making bricks, and some building, and the children of Israel built and fortified all the land of Egypt and its walls, and the children of Israel were engaged in work for many years, until the time came when the Lord remembered them and brought them out of Egypt.

32Mas os filhos de Levi não trabalharam na obra com seus irmãos de Israel, desde o princípio até o dia em que saíram do Egito.

32But the children of Levi were not employed in the work with their brethren of Israel, from the beginning unto the day of their going forth from Egypt.

33Pois todos os filhos de Levi sabiam que os egípcios haviam falado todas essas palavras com engano aos israelitas, por isso os filhos de Levi se abstiveram de se aproximar da obra com seus irmãos.

33For all the children of Levi knew that the Egyptians had spoken all these words with deceit to the Israelites, therefore the children of Levi refrained from approaching to the work with their brethren.

34E os egípcios não direcionaram sua atenção para fazer os filhos de Levi trabalharem depois, visto que eles não tinham estado com seus irmãos no início, portanto os egípcios os deixaram sozinhos.

34And the Egyptians did not direct their attention to make the children of Levi work afterward, since they had not been with their brethren at the beginning, therefore the Egyptians left them alone.

35E as mãos dos homens do Egito foram dirigidas com contínua severidade contra os filhos de Israel naquele trabalho, e os egípcios fizeram os filhos de Israel trabalharem com rigor.

35And the hands of the men of Egypt were directed with continued severity against the children of Israel in that work, and the Egyptians made the children of Israel work with rigor.

36E os egípcios amarguraram a vida dos filhos de Israel com trabalho árduo, em argamassa e tijolos, e também com todo tipo de trabalho no campo.

36And the Egyptians embittered the lives of the children of Israel with hard work, in mortar and bricks, and also in all manner of work in the field.

37E os filhos de Israel chamaram Melol, rei do Egito, de "Meror, rei do Egito", porque em seus dias os egípcios haviam amargurado suas vidas com todo tipo de trabalho.

37And the children of Israel called Melol the king of Egypt "Meror, king of Egypt," because in his days the Egyptians had embittered their lives with all manner of work.

38E todo o trabalho em que os egípcios fizeram os filhos de Israel trabalhar, eles exigiram com rigor, a fim de afligir os filhos de Israel, mas quanto mais os afligiam, mais eles aumentavam e cresciam, e os egípcios ficavam tristes por causa dos filhos de Israel.

38And all the work wherein the Egyptians made the children of Israel labor, they exacted with rigor, in order to afflict the children of Israel, but the more they afflicted them, the more they increased and grew, and the Egyptians were grieved because of the children of Israel.
