1E no nonagésimo terceiro ano morreu Levi, filho de Jacó, no Egito, e Levi tinha cento e trinta e sete anos quando morreu, e eles o colocaram em um caixão e ele foi entregue nas mãos de seus filhos.

1And in the ninety-third year died Levi, the son of Jacob, in Egypt, and Levi was a hundred and thirty-seven years old when he died, and they put him into a coffin and he was given into the hands of his children.

2E aconteceu que depois da morte de Levi, quando todo o Egito viu que os filhos de Jacó, os irmãos de José, estavam mortos, todos os egípcios começaram a afligir os filhos de Jacó e a amargar suas vidas daquele dia até o dia em que saíram do Egito, e tomaram de suas mãos todas as vinhas e campos que José lhes havia dado, e todas as casas elegantes em que o povo de Israel morava, e toda a gordura do Egito, os egípcios tomaram tudo dos filhos de Jacó naqueles dias.

2And it came to pass after the death of Levi, when all Egypt saw that the sons of Jacob the brethren of Joseph were dead, all the Egyptians began to afflict the children of Jacob, and to embitter their lives from that day unto the day of their going forth from Egypt, and they took from their hands all the vineyards and fields which Joseph had given unto them, and all the elegant houses in which the people of Israel lived, and all the fat of Egypt, the Egyptians took all from the sons of Jacob in those days.

3E a mão de todo o Egito tornou-se mais violenta naqueles dias contra os filhos de Israel, e os egípcios feriram os israelitas até que os filhos de Israel se cansaram de suas vidas por causa dos egípcios.

3And the hand of all Egypt became more grievous in those days against the children of Israel, and the Egyptians injured the Israelites until the children of Israel were wearied of their lives on account of the Egyptians.

4E aconteceu naqueles dias, no centésimo segundo ano da descida de Israel ao Egito, que Faraó, rei do Egito, morreu, e Melol, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar, e todos os homens poderosos do Egito e toda aquela geração que conheceu José e seus irmãos morreram naqueles dias.

4And it came to pass in those days, in the hundred and second year of Israel's going down to Egypt, that Pharaoh king of Egypt died, and Melol his son reigned in his stead, and all the mighty men of Egypt and all that generation which knew Joseph and his brethren died in those days.

5E outra geração se levantou em seu lugar, que não conhecia os filhos de Jacó e todo o bem que lhes haviam feito, e todo o seu poder no Egito.

5And another generation rose up in their stead, which had not known the sons of Jacob and all the good which they had done to them, and all their might in Egypt.

6Portanto, todo o Egito começou a partir daquele dia a amargurar a vida dos filhos de Jacó e a afligi-los com todo tipo de trabalho duro, porque não conheciam seus antepassados ​​que os libertaram nos dias da fome.

6Therefore all Egypt began from that day forth to embitter the lives of the sons of Jacob, and to afflict them with all manner of hard labor, because they had not known their ancestors who had delivered them in the days of the famine.

7E isto também veio do Senhor, para os filhos de Israel, para beneficiá-los nos seus últimos dias, para que todos os filhos de Israel conhecessem o Senhor seu Deus.

7And this was also from the Lord, for the children of Israel, to benefit them in their latter days, in order that all the children of Israel might know the Lord their God.

8E para conhecerem os sinais e grandes prodígios que o Senhor faria no Egito por causa do seu povo Israel, para que os filhos de Israel temessem ao Senhor Deus de seus antepassados, e andassem em todos os seus caminhos, eles e a sua descendência depois deles todos os dias.

8And in order to know the signs and mighty wonders which the Lord would do in Egypt on account of his people Israel, in order that the children of Israel might fear the Lord God of their ancestors, and walk in all his ways, they and their seed after them all the days.

9Melol tinha vinte anos quando começou a reinar e reinou noventa e quatro anos, e todo o Egito chamou seu nome de Faraó, em homenagem ao nome de seu pai, como era costume fazer com todo rei que reinava sobre eles no Egito.

9Melol was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned ninety-four years, and all Egypt called his name Pharaoh after the name of his father, as it was their custom to do to every king who reigned over them in Egypt.

10At that time all the troops of Angeas king of Africa went forth to spread along the land of Chittim as usual for plunder.

11And Zepho the son of Eliphaz the son of Esau heard their report, and he went forth to meet them with his army, and he fought them there in the road.

12E Zepho feriu as tropas do rei da África com o fio da espada, e não deixou nenhum deles restante, e nem mesmo um retornou ao seu mestre na África.

12And Zepho smote the troops of the king of Africa with the edge of the sword, and left none remaining of them, and not even one returned to his master in Africa.

13E Angeas ouviu falar do que Zepho, filho de Elifaz, tinha feito a todas as suas tropas, que ele as havia destruído, e Angeas reuniu todas as suas tropas, todos os homens da terra da África, um povo numeroso como a areia à beira-mar.

13And Angeas heard of this which Zepho the son of Eliphaz had done to all his troops, that he had destroyed them, and Angeas assembled all his troops, all the men of the land of Africa, a people numerous like the sand by the sea shore.

14E Angeas enviou a Lucus, seu irmão, dizendo: Venha até mim com todos os seus homens e ajude-me a ferir Zepho e todos os filhos de Chittim que destruíram meus homens, e Lucus veio com todo o seu exército, uma força muito grande, para ajudar Angeas, seu irmão, a lutar com Zepho e os filhos de Chittim.

14And Angeas sent to Lucus his brother, saying, Come to me with all thy men and help me to smite Zepho and all the children of Chittim who have destroyed my men, and Lucus came with his whole army, a very great force, to assist Angeas his brother to fight with Zepho and the children of Chittim.

15E Zepho e os filhos de Chittim ouviram isso, e ficaram com muito medo e um grande terror caiu sobre seus corações.

15And Zepho and the children of Chittim heard this thing, and they were greatly afraid and a great terror fell upon their hearts.

16E Zepho também enviou uma carta à terra de Edom a Hadad, filho de Bedad, rei de Edom, e a todos os filhos de Esaú, dizendo:

16And Zepho also sent a letter to the land of Edom to Hadad the son of Bedad king of Edom and to all the children of Esau, saying,

17Ouvi dizer que Angeas, rei da África, vem até nós com seu irmão para lutar contra nós, e temos muito medo dele, pois seu exército é muito grande, especialmente porque ele vem contra nós com seu irmão e seu exército da mesma forma.

17I have heard that Angeas king of Africa is coming to us with his brother for battle against us, and we are greatly afraid of him, for his army is very great, particularly as he comes against us with his brother and his army likewise.

18Agora, portanto, venha você também comigo e me ajude, e lutaremos juntos contra Angeas e seu irmão Lucus, e você nos salvará das mãos deles, mas se não, saibam que todos morreremos.

18Now therefore come you also up with me and help me, and we will fight together against Angeas and his brother Lucus, and you will save us out of their hands, but if not, know ye that we shall all die.

19E os filhos de Esaú enviaram uma carta aos filhos de Chittim e a Zepho, seu rei, dizendo: Não podemos lutar contra Angeas e seu povo, pois um pacto de paz tem estado entre nós há muitos anos, desde os dias de Bela, o primeiro rei, e desde os dias de José, filho de Jacó, rei do Egito, com quem lutamos do outro lado do Jordão quando ele enterrou seu pai.

19And the children of Esau sent a letter to the children of Chittim and to Zepho their king, saying, We cannot fight against Angeas and his people for a covenant of peace has been between us these many years, from the days of Bela the first king, and from the days of Joseph the son of Jacob king of Egypt, with whom we fought on the other side of Jordan when he buried his father.

20E quando Zepho ouviu as palavras de seus irmãos, os filhos de Esaú, ele se absteve delas, e Zepho ficou com muito medo de Angeas.

20And when Zepho heard the words of his brethren the children of Esau he refrained from them, and Zepho was greatly afraid of Angeas.

21E Angeas e Lucus, seu irmão, organizaram todas as suas forças, cerca de oitocentos mil homens, contra os filhos de Chittim.

21And Angeas and Lucus his brother arrayed all their forces, about eight hundred thousand men, against the children of Chittim.

22E todos os filhos de Chittim disseram a Zepho: Roga por nós ao Deus de teus antepassados, talvez ele possa nos livrar das mãos de Angeas e seu exército, pois ouvimos que ele é um grande Deus e que ele livra todos os que confiam nele.

22And all the children of Chittim said unto Zepho, Pray for us to the God of thy ancestors, peradventure he may deliver us from the hand of Angeas and his army, for we have heard that he is a great God and that he delivers all who trust in him.

23E Zepho ouviu suas palavras, e Zepho buscou ao Senhor e ele disse:

23And Zepho heard their words, and Zepho sought the Lord and he said,

24Ó Senhor Deus de Abraão e de Isaque, meus antepassados, hoje sei que tu és um Deus verdadeiro e que todos os deuses das nações são vãos e inúteis.

240 Lord God of Abraham and Isaac my ancestors, this day I know that thou art a true God, and all the gods of the nations are vain and useless.

25Lembre-se agora hoje comigo de sua aliança com Abraão, nosso pai, que nossos ancestrais nos relataram, e faça graciosamente comigo hoje por causa de Abraão e Isaque, nossos pais, e salve a mim e aos filhos de Chittim da mão do rei da África que vem contra nós para a batalha.

25Remember now this day unto me thy covenant with Abraham our father, which our ancestors related unto us, and do graciously with me this day for the sake of Abraham and Isaac our fathers, and save me and the children of Chittim from the hand of the king of Africa who comes against us for battle.

26E o Senhor ouviu a voz de Zepho, e ele teve consideração por ele por causa de Abraão e Isaque, e o Senhor livrou Zepho e os filhos de Chittim das mãos de Angeas e seu povo.

26And the Lord hearkened to the voice of Zepho, and he had regard for him on account of Abraham and Isaac, and the Lord delivered Zepho and the children of Chittim from the hand of Angeas and his people.

27E Zepho lutou contra Angeas, rei da África, e todo o seu povo naquele dia, e o Senhor entregou todo o povo de Angeas nas mãos dos filhos de Chittim.

27And Zepho fought Angeas king of Africa and all his people on that day, and the Lord gave all the people of Angeas into the hands of the children of Chittim.

28E a batalha foi severa sobre Angeas, e Zepho feriu todos os homens de Angeas e Lucus, seu irmão, com o fio da espada, e caíram deles até a noite daquele dia cerca de quatrocentos mil homens.

28And the battle was severe upon Angeas, and Zepho smote all the men of Angeas and Lucus his brother, with the edge of the sword, and there fell from them unto the evening of that day about four hundred thousand men.

29E quando Angeas viu que todos os seus homens pereceram, ele enviou uma carta a todos os habitantes da África para virem até ele, para ajudá-lo na batalha, e ele escreveu na carta, dizendo: Todos os que são encontrados na África, deixem-nos vir a mim a partir dos dez anos de idade; que todos venham a mim, e eis que, se ele não vier, morrerá, e tudo o que ele tem, com toda a sua família, o rei levará.

29And when Angeas saw that all his men perished, he sent a letter to all the inhabitants of Africa to come to him, to assist him in the battle, and he wrote in the letter, saying, All who are found in Africa let them come unto me from ten years old and upward; let them all come unto me, and behold if he comes not he shall die, and all that he has, with his whole household, the king will take.

30E todo o resto dos habitantes da África ficaram aterrorizados com as palavras de Angeas, e saíram da cidade cerca de trezentos mil homens e meninos, de dez anos para cima, e eles vieram para Angeas.

30And all the rest of the inhabitants of Africa were terrified at the words of Angeas, and there went out of the city about three hundred thousand men and boys, from ten years upward, and they came to Angeas.

31E no final de dez dias Angeas renovou a batalha contra Zepho e os filhos de Chittim, e a batalha foi muito grande e forte entre eles.

31And at the end of ten days Angeas renewed the battle against Zepho and the children of Chittim, and the battle was very great and strong between them.

32E do exército de Angeas e Lucus, Zepho enviou muitos dos feridos para sua mão, cerca de dois mil homens, e Sosiphtar, o capitão do exército de Angeas, caiu naquela batalha.

32And from the army of Angeas and Lucus, Zepho sent many of the wounded unto his hand, about two thousand men, and Sosiphtar the captain of the host of Angeas fell in that battle.

34And Zepho and the children of Chittim pursued them, and they smote them still heavily on the road, about two hundred men, and they pursued Azdrubal the son of Angeas who had fled with his father, and they smote twenty of his men in the road, and Azdrubal escaped from the children of Chittim, and they did not slay him.

35E Angeas e Lucus, seu irmão, fugiram com o resto de seus homens, e eles escaparam e vieram para a África com terror e consternação, e Angeas temeu todos os dias que Zepho, filho de Elifaz, fosse para a guerra com ele.

35And Angeas and Lucus his brother fled with the rest of their men, and they escaped and came into Africa with terror and consternation, and Angeas feared all the days lest Zepho the son of Eliphaz should go to war with him.
