1E quando chegou o ano, sendo o septuagésimo segundo ano desde a descida dos israelitas ao Egito, após a morte de José, Zepho, filho de Elifaz, filho de Esaú, fugiu do Egito, ele e seus homens, e eles foram embora.

1And when the year came round, being the seventy-second year from the Israelites going down to Egypt, after the death of Joseph, Zepho, the son of Eliphaz, the son of Esau, fled from Egypt, he and his men, and they went away.

2E ele veio para a África, que é Dinhabah, para Angeas, rei da África, e Angeas os recebeu com grande honra, e ele fez de Zepho o capitão de seu exército.

2And he came to Africa, which is Dinhabah, to Angeas king of Africa, and Angeas received them with great honor, and he made Zepho the captain of his host.

3E Zepho encontrou favor aos olhos de Angeas e aos olhos de seu povo, e Zepho foi capitão do exército de Angeas, rei da África, por muitos dias.

3And Zepho found favor in the sight of Angeas and in the sight of his people, and Zepho was captain of the host to Angeas king of Africa for many days.

4E Zepho seduziu Angeas, rei da África, a reunir todo o seu exército para ir e lutar com os egípcios e com os filhos de Jacó, e para vingar deles a causa de seus irmãos.

4And Zepho enticed Angeas king of Africa to collect all his army to go and fight with the Egyptians, and with the sons of Jacob, and to avenge of them the cause of his brethren.

5Mas Angeas não quis ouvir Zepho fazer isso, pois Angeas conhecia a força dos filhos de Jacó e o que eles haviam feito ao seu exército na guerra com os filhos de Esaú.

5But Angeas would not listen to Zepho to do this thing, for Angeas knew the strength of the sons of Jacob, and what they had done to his army in their warfare with the children of Esau.

6E Zepho era naqueles dias muito grande aos olhos de Angeas e aos olhos de todo o seu povo, e ele continuamente os induziu a fazer guerra contra o Egito, mas eles não o fizeram.

6And Zepho was in those days very great in the sight of Angeas and in the sight of all his people, and he continually enticed them to make war against Egypt, but they would not.

7E aconteceu que naqueles dias havia na terra de Chittim um homem na cidade de Puzimna, cujo nome era Uzu, e ele foi degeneradamente deificado pelos filhos de Chittim, e o homem morreu e não teve filho, apenas uma filha cujo nome era Jania.

7And it came to pass in those days there was in the land of Chittim a man in the city of Puzimna, whose name was Uzu, and he became degenerately deified by the children of Chittim, and the man died and had no son, only one daughter whose name was Jania.

8E a donzela era extremamente bela, graciosa e inteligente, não havia ninguém como ela em beleza e sabedoria em toda a terra.

8And the damsel was exceedingly beautiful, comely and intelligent, there was none seen like unto her for beauty and wisdom throughout the land.

9E o povo de Angeas, rei da África, a viu e veio e a elogiou, e Angeas enviou aos filhos de Chittim, e ele pediu para tomá-la para si como esposa, e o povo de Chittim consentiu em dá-la a ele como esposa.

9And the people of Angeas king of Africa saw her and they came and praised her unto him, and Angeas sent to the children of Chittim, and he requested to take her unto himself for a wife, and the people of Chittim consented to give her unto him for a wife.

10E quando os mensageiros de Angeas estavam saindo da terra de Chittim para fazer sua jornada, eis que os mensageiros de Turnus, rei de Bibentu, vieram a Chittim, pois Turnus, rei de Bibentu, também enviou seus mensageiros para solicitar Jania para ele, para tomá-la para si como esposa, pois todos os seus homens também a haviam elogiado para ele, portanto ele enviou todos os seus servos até ela.

10And when the messengers of Angeas were going forth from the land of Chittim to take their journey, behold the messengers of Turnus king of Bibentu came unto Chittim, for Turnus king of Bibentu also sent his messengers to request Jania for him, to take unto himself for a wife, for all his men had also praised her to him, therefore he sent all his servants unto her.

11E os servos de Turnus vieram a Chittim, e pediram que Jania fosse levada para Turnus, seu rei, como esposa.

11And the servants of Turnus came to Chittim, and they asked for Jania, to be taken unto Turnus their king for a wife.

12E o povo de Chittim disse-lhes: Não podemos dá-la, porque Angeas, rei da África, desejava que ela a levasse para ele como esposa antes de vocês virem, e que a devêssemos dar a ele, e agora, portanto, não podemos fazer isso para privar Angeas da donzela, a fim de entregá-la a Turnus.

12And the people of Chittim said unto them, We cannot give her, because Angeas king of Africa desired her to take her unto him for a wife before you came, and that we should give her unto him, and now therefore we cannot do this thing to deprive Angeas of the damsel in order to give her unto Turnus.

13Pois temos muito medo de Angeas, com medo de que ele venha em batalha contra nós e nos destrua, e Turnus, seu mestre, não seja capaz de nos livrar de suas mãos.

13For we are greatly afraid of Angeas lest he come in battle against us and destroy us, and Turnus your master will not be able to deliver us from his hand.

14E quando os mensageiros de Turnus ouviram todas as palavras dos filhos de Chittim, eles se voltaram para seu mestre e contaram-lhe todas as palavras dos filhos de Chittim.

14And when the messengers of Turnus heard all the words of the children of Chittim, they turned back to their master and told him all the words of the children of Chittim.

15E os filhos de Chittim enviaram um memorial a Angeas, dizendo: Eis que Turnus enviou Jania para tomá-la como esposa, e assim lhe respondemos; e ouvimos dizer que ele reuniu todo o seu exército para ir à guerra contra ti, e pretende passar pela estrada da Sardônia para lutar contra teu irmão Lucus, e depois disso ele virá lutar contra ti.

15And the children of Chittim sent a memorial to Angeas, saying, Behold Turnus has sent for Jania to take her unto him for a wife, and thus have we answered him; and we heard that he has collected his whole army to go to war against thee, and he intends to pass by the road of Sardunia to fight against thy brother Lucus, and after that he will come to fight against thee.

16E Angeas ouviu as palavras dos filhos de Chittim que eles enviaram a ele no registro, e sua raiva se acendeu e ele se levantou e reuniu todo o seu exército e veio através das ilhas do mar, a estrada para a Sardônia, até seu irmão Lucus, rei da Sardônia.

16And Angeas heard the words of the children of Chittim which they sent to him in the record, and his anger was kindled and he rose up and assembled his whole army and came through the islands of the sea, the road to Sardunia, unto his brother Lucus king of Sardunia.

17And Niblos, the son of Lucus, heard that his uncle Angeas was coming, and he went out to meet him with a heavy army, and he kissed him and embraced him, and Niblos said unto Angeas, When thou askest my father after his welfare, when I shall go with thee to fight with Turnus, ask of him to make me captain of his host, and Angeas did so, and he came unto his brother and his brother came to meet him, and he asked him after his welfare.

18And Angeas asked his brother Lucus after his welfare, and to make his son Niblos captain of his host, and Lucus did so, and Angeas and his brother Lucus rose up and they went toward Turnus to battle, and there was with them a great army and a heavy people.

19And he came in ships, and they came into the province of Ashtorash, and behold Turnus came toward them, for he went forth to Sardunia, and intended to destroy it and afterward to pass on from there to Angeas to fight with him.

20E Angeas e Lucus, seu irmão, encontraram Turnus no vale de Canopia, e a batalha foi forte e poderosa entre eles naquele lugar.

20And Angeas and Lucus his brother met Turnus in the valley of Canopia, and the battle was strong and mighty between them in that place.

21E a batalha foi severa sobre Lucus, rei da Sardônia, e todo o seu exército caiu, e Niblos, seu filho, também caiu naquela batalha.

21And the battle was severe upon Lucus king of Sardunia, and all his army fell, and Niblos his son fell also in that battle.

22And his uncle Angeas commanded his servants and they made a golden coffin for Niblos and they put him into it, and Angeas again waged battle toward Turnus, and Angeas was stronger than he, and he slew him, and he smote all his people with the edge of the sword, and Angeas avenged the cause of Niblos his brother's son and the cause of the army of his brother Lucus.

23E quando Turnus morreu, as mãos daqueles que sobreviveram à batalha enfraqueceram, e eles fugiram de Angeas e Lucus, seu irmão.

23And when Turnus died, the hands of those that survived the battle became weak, and they fled from before Angeas and Lucus his brother.

24E Angeas e seu irmão Lucus os perseguiram até a estrada, que fica entre Alphanu e Romah, e mataram todo o exército de Turnus com o fio da espada.

24And Angeas and his brother Lucus pursued them unto the highroad, which is between Alphanu and Romah, and they slew the whole army of Turnus with the edge of the sword.

25E Lucus, rei da Sardônia, ordenou a seus servos que fizessem um caixão de bronze e que colocassem nele o corpo de seu filho Niblos, e eles o enterraram naquele lugar.

25And Lucus king of Sardunia commanded his servants that they should make a coffin of brass, and that they should place therein the body of his son Niblos, and they buried him in that place.

26E eles construíram sobre ela uma torre alta lá na estrada, e eles chamaram seu nome após o nome de Niblos até hoje, e eles também enterraram Turnus rei de Bibentu ali naquele lugar com Niblos.

26And they built upon it a high tower there upon the highroad, and they called its name after the name of Niblos unto this day, and they also buried Turnus king of Bibentu there in that place with Niblos.

27And behold upon the highroad between Alphanu and Romah the grave of Niblos is on one side and the grave of Turnus on the other, and a pavement between them unto this day.

28And when Niblos was buried, Lucus his father returned with his army to his land Sardunia, and Angeas his brother king of Africa went with his people unto the city of Bibentu, that is the city of Turnus.

29E os habitantes de Bibentu ouviram falar de sua fama e ficaram com muito medo dele, e saíram ao seu encontro com choro e súplicas, e os habitantes de Bibentu imploraram a Angeas para não matá-los nem destruir sua cidade; e ele fez isso, pois Bibentu era naquela época considerada uma das cidades dos filhos de Chittim; portanto ele não destruiu a cidade.

29And the inhabitants of Bibentu heard of his fame and they were greatly afraid of him, and they went forth to meet him with weeping and supplication, and the inhabitants of Bibentu entreated of Angeas not to slay them nor destroy their city; and he did so, for Bibentu was in those days reckoned as one of the cities of the children of Chittim; therefore he did not destroy the city.

30Mas daquele dia em diante as tropas do rei da África iriam para Chittim para despojá-la e saqueá-la, e sempre que fossem, Zepho, o capitão do exército de Angeas, iria com eles.

30But from that day forward the troops of the king of Africa would go to Chittim to spoil and plunder it, and whenever they went, Zepho the captain of the host of Angeas would go with them.

31E foi depois disso que Angeas se voltou com seu exército e eles chegaram à cidade de Puzimna, e Angeas tomou de lá Jania, a filha de Uzu, como esposa e a trouxe para sua cidade na África.

31And it was after this that Angeas turned with his army and they came to the city of Puzimna, and Angeas took thence Jania the daughter of Uzu for a wife and brought her unto his city unto Africa.
