1E na virada do ano os filhos de Jacó viajaram de Siquém, e eles vieram para Hebron, para seu pai Isaque, e eles moraram lá, mas seus rebanhos e manadas eles alimentavam diariamente em Siquém, pois havia lá naqueles dias pastagens boas e gordas, e Jacó e seus filhos e toda a sua casa habitavam no vale de Hebron.

1And at the revolution of the year the sons of Jacob journeyed from Shechem, and they came to Hebron, to their father Isaac, and they dwelt there, but their flocks and herds they fed daily in Shechem, for there was there in those days good and fat pasture, and Jacob and his sons and all their household dwelt in the valley of Hebron.

2E foi naqueles dias, naquele ano, sendo o centésimo sexto ano da vida de Jacó, no décimo ano da vinda de Jacó de Padã-Arã, que Lia, esposa de Jacó, morreu; ela tinha cinquenta e um anos quando morreu em Hebron.

2And it was in those days, in that year, being the hundred and sixth year of the life of Jacob, in the tenth year of Jacob's coming from Padan-aram, that Leah the wife of Jacob died; she was fifty-one years old when she died in Hebron.

3And Jacob and his sons buried her in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which is in Hebron, which Abraham had bought from the children of Heth, for the possession of a burial place.

4And the sons of Jacob dwelt with their father in the valley of Hebron, and all the inhabitants of the land knew their strength and their fame went throughout the land.

5E José, filho de Jacó, e seu irmão Benjamim, filhos de Raquel, esposa de Jacó, ainda eram jovens naqueles dias, e não saíram com seus irmãos durante as batalhas em todas as cidades dos amorreus.

5And Joseph the son of Jacob, and his brother Benjamin, the sons of Rachel, the wife of Jacob, were yet young in those days, and did not go out with their brethren during their battles in all the cities of the Amorites.

6E quando José viu a força de seus irmãos e sua grandeza, ele os elogiou e exaltou, mas ele se classificou como maior do que eles e se exaltou acima deles; e Jacó, seu pai, também o amava mais do que qualquer um de seus filhos, pois ele era filho da sua velhice, e através do seu amor para com ele, fez-lhe uma túnica de muitas cores.

6And when Joseph saw the strength of his brethren, and their greatness, he praised them and extolled them, but he ranked himself greater than them, and extolled himself above them; and Jacob, his father, also loved him more than any of his sons, for he was a son of his old age, and through his love toward him, he made him a coat of many colors.

7E quando José viu que seu pai o amava mais do que a seus irmãos, ele continuou a exaltar-se acima de seus irmãos e trouxe a seu pai más notícias a respeito deles.

7And when Joseph saw that his father loved him more than his brethren, he continued to exalt himself above his brethren, and he brought unto his father evil reports concerning them.

8E os filhos de Jacó, vendo toda a conduta de José para com eles, e que seu pai o amava mais do que qualquer um deles, eles o odiaram e não podiam falar pacificamente com ele todos os dias.

8And the sons of Jacob seeing the whole of Joseph's conduct toward them, and that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him all the days.

9E José tinha dezessete anos e ainda se engrandecia acima de seus irmãos e pensava em se elevar acima deles.

9And Joseph was seventeen years old, and he was still magnifying himself above his brethren, and thought of raising himself above them.

10Naquele tempo ele teve um sonho, e veio até seus irmãos e contou-lhes o seu sonho, e ele lhes disse: Eu tive um sonho, e eis que éramos todos amarrando molhos no campo, e meu molho levantou-se e colocou-se no chão e seus feixes o cercaram e se curvaram diante dele.

10At that time he dreamed a dream, and he came unto his brothers and told them his dream, and he said unto them, I dreamed a dream, and behold we were all binding sheaves in the field, and my sheaf rose and placed itself upon the ground and your sheaves surrounded it and bowed down to it.

11E seus irmãos lhe responderam e disseram-lhe: Que significa este sonho que sonhaste? você imagina em seu coração reinar ou governar sobre nós?

11And his brethren answered him and said unto him, What meaneth this dream that thou didst dream? dost thou imagine in thy heart to reign or rule over us?

12E ele ainda veio e contou a coisa a seu pai Jacó, e Jacó beijou José quando ouviu estas palavras de sua boca, e Jacó abençoou José.

12And he still came, and told the thing to his father Jacob, and Jacob kissed Joseph when he heard these words from his mouth, and Jacob blessed Joseph.

13E quando os filhos de Jacó viram que seu pai havia abençoado José e o beijado, e que ele o amava excessivamente, ficaram com ciúmes dele e o odiaram ainda mais.

13And when the sons of Jacob saw that their father had blessed Joseph and had kissed him, and that he loved him exceedingly, they became jealous of him and hated him the more.

14E depois disso José teve outro sonho e relatou o sonho a seu pai na presença de seus irmãos, e José disse a seu pai e irmãos: Eis que novamente sonhei um sonho, e eis que o sol e a lua e as onze estrelas se curvaram diante de mim.

14And after this Joseph dreamed another dream and related the dream to his father in the presence of his brethren, and Joseph said unto his father and brethren, Behold I have again dreamed a dream, and behold the sun and the moon and the eleven stars bowed down to me.

15E seu pai ouviu as palavras de José e seu sonho, e vendo que seus irmãos odiavam José por causa deste assunto, Jacó repreendeu José diante de seus irmãos por causa disso, dizendo: O que significa este sonho que você sonhou, e este engrandecer-se diante de seus irmãos que são mais velhos do que você?

15And his father heard the words of Joseph and his dream, and seeing that his brethren hated Joseph on account of this matter, Jacob therefore rebuked Joseph before his brethren on account of this thing, saying, What meaneth this dream which thou hast dreamed, and this magnifying thyself before thy brethren who are older than thou art?

16Você imagina em seu coração que eu, sua mãe e seus onze irmãos iremos e nos curvaremos diante de você, por você falar essas coisas?

16Dost thou imagine in thy heart that I and thy mother and thy eleven brethren will come and bow down to thee, that thou speakest these things?

17E seus irmãos ficaram com ciúmes dele por causa de suas palavras e sonhos, e continuaram a odiá-lo, e Jacó guardou os sonhos em seu coração.

17And his brethren were jealous of him on account of his words and dreams, and they continued to hate him, and Jacob reserved the dreams in his heart.

18E os filhos de Jacó foram um dia apascentar o rebanho de seu pai em Siquém, pois ainda eram pastores naqueles dias; e enquanto os filhos de Jacó estavam naquele dia pastando em Siquém, eles se atrasaram, e o tempo de reunir o gado passou, e eles não haviam chegado.

18And the sons of Jacob went one day to feed their father's flock in Shechem, for they were still herdsmen in those days; and whilst the sons of Jacob were that day feeding in Shechem they delayed, and the time of gathering in the cattle was passed, and they had not arrived.

19E Jacó viu que seus filhos estavam atrasados ​​em Siquém, e Jacó disse consigo mesmo: Talvez o povo de Siquém tenha se levantado para lutar contra eles, portanto eles atrasaram a chegada deste dia.

19And Jacob saw that his sons were delayed in Shechem, and Jacob said within himself, Peradventure the people of Shechem have risen up to fight against them, therefore they have delayed coming this day.

20E Jacó chamou José, seu filho, e ordenou-lhe, dizendo: Eis que teus irmãos estão pastando hoje em Siquém, e eis que ainda não voltaram; vá agora, portanto, e veja onde eles estão, e traga-me notícias sobre o bem-estar de seus irmãos e o bem-estar do rebanho.

20And Jacob called Joseph his son and commanded him, saying, Behold thy brethren are feeding in Shechem this day, and behold they have not yet come back; go now therefore and see where they are, and bring me word back concerning the welfare of thy brethren and the welfare of the flock.

21E Jacó enviou seu filho José ao vale de Hebron, e José veio buscar seus irmãos a Siquém, e não conseguiu encontrá-los, e José percorreu o campo que ficava perto de Siquém, para ver para onde seus irmãos haviam se virado, e ele perdeu o caminho no deserto, e não sabia para que lado deveria ir.

21And Jacob sent his son Joseph to the valley of Hebron, and Joseph came for his brothers to Shechem, and could not find them, and Joseph went about the field which was near Shechem, to see where his brothers had turned, and he missed his road in the wilderness, and knew not which way he should go.

22E um anjo do Senhor o encontrou vagando pela estrada em direção ao campo, e José disse ao anjo do Senhor: Procuro meus irmãos; você não ouviu onde eles estão se alimentando? e o anjo do Senhor disse a José: Vi teus irmãos alimentando-se aqui e ouvi-os dizer que iriam alimentar-se em Dotã.

22And an angel of the Lord found him wandering in the road toward the field, and Joseph said unto the angel of the Lord, I seek my brethren; hast thou not heard where they are feeding? and the angel of the Lord said unto Joseph, I saw thy brethren feeding here, and I heard them say they would go to feed in Dothan.

23E José deu ouvidos à voz do anjo do Senhor, e foi até seus irmãos em Dotã e os encontrou em Dotã alimentando o rebanho.

23And Joseph hearkened to the voice of the angel of the Lord, and he went to his brethren in Dothan and he found them in Dothan feeding the flock.

24E José avançou para seus irmãos, e antes que ele chegasse perto deles, eles resolveram matá-lo.

24And Joseph advanced to his brethren, and before he had come nigh unto them, they had resolved to slay him.

25E Simeão disse a seus irmãos: Eis que o homem dos sonhos está vindo até nós hoje, e agora, portanto, venha e vamos matá-lo e lançá-lo em uma das covas que estão no deserto, e quando seu pai o buscar entre nós, diremos que uma fera maligna o devorou.

25And Simeon said to his brethren, Behold the man of dreams is coming unto us this day, and now therefore come and let us kill him and cast him in one of the pits that are in the wilderness, and when his father shall seek him from us, we will say an evil beast has devoured him.

26E Rúben ouviu as palavras de seus irmãos a respeito de José e disse-lhes: Não deveis fazer isso, pois como podemos admirar nosso pai Jacó? Lance-o nesta cova para morrer ali, mas não estenda a mão sobre ele para derramar seu sangue; e Rúben disse isso para livrá-lo das mãos deles, para trazê-lo de volta a seu pai.

26And Reuben heard the words of his brethren concerning Joseph, and he said unto them, You should not do this thing, for how can we look up to our father Jacob? Cast him into this pit to die there, but stretch not forth a hand upon him to spill his blood; and Reuben said this in order to deliver him from their hand, to bring him back to his father.

27E quando José chegou a seus irmãos, ele sentou-se diante deles, e eles se levantaram sobre ele e o agarraram e o derrubaram no chão, e despiram o casaco de muitas cores que ele vestia.

27And when Joseph came to his brethren he sat before them, and they rose upon him and seized him and smote him to the earth, and stripped the coat of many colors which he had on.

28E eles o pegaram e o lançaram numa cova, e na cova não havia água, mas serpentes e escorpiões. E José teve medo das serpentes e dos escorpiões que estavam na cova. E José clamou em alta voz, e o Senhor escondeu as serpentes e escorpiões nas laterais da cova, e eles não fizeram mal a José.

28And they took him and cast him into a pit, and in the pit there was no water, but serpents and scorpions. And Joseph was afraid of the serpents and scorpions that were in the pit. And Joseph cried out with a loud voice, and the Lord hid the serpents and scorpions in the sides of the pit, and they did no harm unto Joseph.

29E José chamou da cova a seus irmãos e disse-lhes: Que vos fiz eu e em que pequei? por que você não teme ao Senhor a meu respeito? Não sou eu dos seus ossos e carne, e Jacó não é seu pai, meu pai? por que você faz isso comigo hoje e como poderá admirar nosso pai Jacó?

29And Joseph called out from the pit to his brethren, and said unto them, What have I done unto you, and in what have I sinned? why do you not fear the Lord concerning me? am I not of your bones and flesh, and is not Jacob your father, my father? why do you do this thing unto me this day, and how will you be able to look up to our father Jacob?

30E ele continuou a clamar e a chamar seus irmãos da cova, e disse: Ó Judá, Simeão e Levi, meus irmãos, levantai-me do lugar de trevas em que me colocastes e vinde hoje ter compaixão de mim, filhos do Senhor e filhos de Jacó, meu pai. E se eu pequei contra vós, não sois vós filhos de Abraão, de Isaque e de Jacó? se viam um órfão, tinham compaixão dele, ou de um que tinha fome, davam-lhe pão para comer, ou de um que tinha sede, davam-lhe água para beber, ou de um que estava nu, cobriam-no com roupas!

30And he continued to cry out and call unto his brethren from the pit, and he said, O Judah, Simeon, and Levi, my brethren, lift me up from the place of darkness in which you have placed me, and come this day to have compassion on me, ye children of the Lord, and sons of Jacob my father. And if I have sinned unto you, are you not the sons of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? if they saw an orphan they had compassion over him, or one that was hungry, they gave him bread to eat, or one that was thirsty, they gave him water to drink, or one that was naked, they covered him with garments!

31E como então você esconderá sua piedade de seu irmão, pois sou de sua carne e ossos, e se pequei para você, certamente você fará isso por causa de meu pai!

31And how then will you withhold your pity from your brother, for I am of your flesh and bones, and if I have sinned unto you, surely you will do this on account of my father!

32E José falou estas palavras da cova, e seus irmãos não puderam ouvi-lo, nem inclinar seus ouvidos às palavras de José, e José estava chorando e chorando na cova.

32And Joseph spoke these words from the pit, and his brethren could not listen to him, nor incline their ears to the words of Joseph, and Joseph was crying and weeping in the pit.

33E José disse: Oh, se meu pai soubesse, hoje, o ato que meus irmãos fizeram comigo e as palavras que eles me disseram hoje.

33And Joseph said, O that my father knew, this day, the act which my brothers have done unto me, and the words which they have this day spoken unto me.

34E todos os seus irmãos ouviram seus clamores e choro na cova, e seus irmãos foram e retiraram-se da cova, para que não ouvissem os clamores de José e seu choro na cova.

34And all his brethren heard his cries and weeping in the pit, and his brethren went and removed themselves from the pit, so that they might not hear the cries of Joseph and his weeping in the pit.
