Livro de Jasher 35

1E todos os reis dos amorreus vieram e se posicionaram no campo para consultar seus conselheiros sobre o que deveria ser feito com os filhos de Jacó, pois ainda estavam com medo deles, dizendo: Eis que dois deles mataram toda a cidade de Siquém.

1And all the kings of the Amorites came and took their stand in the field to consult with their counsellors what was to be done with the sons of Jacob, for they were still afraid of them, saying, Behold, two of them slew the whole of the city of Shechem.

2E o Senhor ouviu as orações de Isaque e Jacó, e encheu os corações de todos os conselheiros desses reis com grande medo e terror que eles exclamaram unanimemente:

2And the Lord heard the prayers of Isaac and Jacob, and he filled the hearts of all these kings' advisers with great fear and terror that they unanimously exclaimed,

3Você é tolo hoje, ou não há entendimento em você de que você lutará com os hebreus, e por que você se deleitará com sua própria destruição hoje?

3Are you silly this day, or is there no understanding in you, that you will fight with the Hebrews, and why will you take a delight in your own destruction this day?

4Eis que dois deles chegaram à cidade de Siquém sem medo ou terror, e mataram todos os habitantes da cidade, para que ninguém se levantasse contra eles, e como vocês poderão lutar com todos eles?

4Behold two of them came to the city of Shechem without fear or terror, and they killed all the inhabitants of the city, that no man stood up against them, and how will you be able to fight with them all?

5Certamente você sabe que o Deus deles gosta muito deles e fez coisas poderosas por eles, como nunca foram feitas desde os tempos antigos, e entre todos os deuses das nações, não há ninguém que possa fazer como seus feitos poderosos.

5Surely you know that their God is exceedingly fond of them, and has done mighty things for them, such as have not been done from days of old, and amongst all the gods of nations, there is none can do like unto his mighty deeds.

6Certamente ele livrou seu pai Abraão, o hebreu, das mãos de Nimrod e das mãos de todo o seu povo que muitas vezes tentou matá-lo.

6Surely he delivered their father Abraham, the Hebrew, from the hand of Nimrod, and from the hand of all his people who had many times sought to slay him.

7Ele também o livrou do fogo no qual o rei Nimrod o havia lançado, e seu Deus o livrou dele.

7He delivered him also from the fire in which king Nimrod had cast him, and his God delivered him from it.

8E quem mais pode fazer o mesmo? certamente foi Abraão quem matou os cinco reis de Elão, quando eles tocaram no filho de seu irmão, que naqueles dias morava em Sodoma.

8And who else can do the like? surely it was Abraham who slew the five kings of Elam, when they had touched his brother's son who in those days dwelt in Sodom.

9E tomou seu servo que era fiel em sua casa e alguns de seus homens, e eles perseguiram os reis de Elam em uma noite e os mataram, e devolveram ao filho de seu irmão todas as suas propriedades que haviam tirado dele.

9And took his servant that was faithful in his house and a few of his men, and they pursued the kings of Elam in one night and killed them, and restored to his brother's son all his property which they had taken from him.

10E certamente você sabe que o Deus desses hebreus está muito satisfeito com eles, e eles também estão encantados com ele, pois sabem que ele os livrou de todos os seus inimigos.

10And surely you know the God of these Hebrews is much delighted with them, and they are also delighted with him, for they know that he delivered them from all their enemies.

11E eis que através do seu amor para com o seu Deus, Abraão tomou o seu único e precioso filho e pretendia criá-lo como um holocausto ao seu Deus, e se não fosse por Deus que o impediu de fazer isso, ele teria feito isso através do seu amor ao seu Deus.

11And behold through his love toward his God, Abraham took his only and precious son and intended to bring him up as a burnt offering to his God, and had it not been for God who prevented him from doing this, he would then have done it through his love to his God.

12E Deus viu todas as suas obras, e jurou-lhe, e prometeu-lhe que livraria seus filhos e toda a sua semente de todos os problemas que lhes aconteceriam, porque ele tinha feito isso, e através de seu amor a seu Deus sufocou sua compaixão por seu filho.

12And God saw all his works, and swore unto him, and promised him that he would deliver his sons and all his seed from every trouble that would befall them, because he had done this thing, and through his love to his God stifled his compassion for his child.

13E não ouvistes o que o Deus deles fez ao Faraó, rei do Egito, e a Abimeleque, rei de Gerar, ao tomar a esposa de Abraão, que disse dela: Ela é minha irmã, para que não o matem por causa dela, e pensem em tomá-la por esposa? e Deus fez a eles e ao seu povo tudo o que ouviste.

13And have you not heard what their God did to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to Abimelech king of Gerar, through taking Abraham's wife, who said of her, She is my sister, lest they might slay him on account of her, and think of taking her for a wife? and God did unto them and their people all that you heard of.

14E eis que nós mesmos vimos com nossos olhos que Esaú, irmão de Jacó, veio até ele com quatrocentos homens, com a intenção de matá-lo, pois lembrou-se de que lhe havia tirado a bênção de seu pai.

14And behold, we ourselves saw with our eyes that Esau, the brother of Jacob, came to him with four hundred men, with the intention of slaying him, for he called to mind that he had taken away from him his father's blessing.

15E foi ao seu encontro quando veio da Síria, para ferir a mãe com os filhos, e quem o livrou das suas mãos senão o seu Deus em quem ele confiava? ele o livrou das mãos de seu irmão e também das mãos de seus inimigos, e certamente ele novamente os protegerá.

15And he went to meet him when he came from Syria, to smite the mother with the children, and who delivered him from his hands but his God in whom he trusted? he delivered him from the hand of his brother and also from the hands of his enemies, and surely he again will protect them.

16Quem não sabe que foi o seu Deus quem os inspirou com força para fazerem à cidade de Siquém o mal de que ouviram falar?

16Who does not know that it was their God who inspired them with strength to do to the town of Shechem the evil which you heard of?

17Poderia então ser com a sua própria força que dois homens poderiam destruir uma cidade tão grande como Siquém, se não fosse pelo seu Deus em quem confiavam? ele disse e fez tudo isso com eles para matar os habitantes da cidade em sua cidade.

17Could it then be with their own strength that two men could destroy such a large city as Shechem had it not been for their God in whom they trusted? he said and did unto them all this to slay the inhabitants of the city in their city.

18E você pode então prevalecer sobre aqueles que vieram juntos de sua cidade para lutar com todos eles, mesmo que mil vezes mais venham em seu auxílio?

18And can you then prevail over them who have come forth together from your city to fight with the whole of them, even if a thousand times as many more should come to your assistance?

19Certamente você sabe e entende que não veio para lutar com eles, mas veio para a guerra com o Deus deles, que os escolheu e, portanto, todos vocês vieram hoje para serem destruídos.

19Surely you know and understand that you do not come to fight with them, but you come to war with their God who made choice of them, and you have therefore all come this day to be destroyed.

20Agora, portanto, evitem esse mal que vocês estão tentando trazer sobre si mesmos, e será melhor para vocês não irem para a batalha com eles, embora sejam poucos em número, porque o Deus deles está com eles.

20Now therefore refrain from this evil which you are endeavoring to bring upon yourselves, and it will be better for you not to go to battle with them, although they are but few in numbers, because their God is with them.

21E quando os reis dos amorreus ouviram todas as palavras de seus conselheiros, seus corações se encheram de terror, e eles ficaram com medo dos filhos de Jacó e não quiseram lutar contra eles.

21And when the kings of the Amorites heard all the words of their advisers, their hearts were filled with terror, and they were afraid of the sons of Jacob and would not fight against them.

22E eles inclinaram os seus ouvidos às palavras dos seus conselheiros, e ouviram todas as suas palavras, e as palavras dos conselheiros agradaram muito aos reis, e eles assim fizeram.

22And they inclined their ears to the words of their advisers, and they listened to all their words, and the words of the counsellors greatly pleased the kings, and they did so.

23E os reis se viraram e se abstiveram dos filhos de Jacó, pois não ousaram se aproximar deles para fazer guerra contra eles, pois tinham muito medo deles e seus corações derreteram-se dentro deles por causa do medo deles.

23And the kings turned and refrained from the sons of Jacob, for they durst not approach them to make war with them, for they were greatly afraid of them, and their hearts melted within them from their fear of them.

24Porque isto procedeu do Senhor para eles, porque ouviu as orações dos seus servos Isaque e Jacó, porque nele confiaram; e todos estes reis voltaram naquele dia com seus acampamentos, cada um para sua cidade, e naquele momento não lutaram contra os filhos de Jacó.

24For this proceeded from the Lord to them, for he heard the prayers of his servants Isaac and Jacob, for they trusted in him; and all these kings returned with their camps on that day, each to his own city, and they did not at that time fight with the sons of Jacob.

25E os filhos de Jacó mantiveram sua posição naquele dia até a noite em frente ao monte Siom, e vendo que esses reis não vieram lutar contra eles, os filhos de Jacó voltaram para casa.

25And the sons of Jacob kept their station that day till evening opposite mount Sihon, and seeing that these kings did not come to fight against them, the sons of Jacob returned home.
