Livro de Jasher 20

1E naquele tempo Abraão viajou da planície de Manre, e foi para a terra dos filisteus, e habitou em Gerar; foi no vigésimo quinto ano em que Abraão esteve na terra de Canaã, e no centésimo ano da vida de Abraão, que ele veio a Gerar, na terra dos filisteus.

1And at that time Abraham journeyed from the plain of Mamre, and he went to the land of the Philistines, and he dwelt in Gerar; it was in the twenty-fifth year of Abraham's being in the land of Canaan, and the hundredth year of the life of Abraham, that he came to Gerar in the land of the Philistines.

2E quando eles entraram na terra, ele disse a Sara, sua esposa: Diga que você é minha irmã, a qualquer um que te perguntar, para que possamos escapar do mal dos habitantes da terra.

2And when they entered the land he said to Sarah his wife, Say thou art my sister, to any one that shall ask thee, in order that we may escape the evil of the inhabitants of the land.

3E enquanto Abraão habitava na terra dos filisteus, os servos de Abimeleque, rei dos filisteus, viram que Sara era extremamente bonita, e perguntaram a Abraão sobre ela, e ele disse: Ela é minha irmã.

3And as Abraham was dwelling in the land of the Philistines, the servants of Abimelech, king of the Philistines, saw that Sarah was exceedingly beautiful, and they asked Abraham concerning her, and he said, She is my sister.

4E os servos de Abimeleque foram a Abimeleque, dizendo: Um homem da terra de Canaã veio habitar na terra, e ele tem uma irmã que é extremamente bela.

4And the servants of Abimelech went to Abimelech, saying, A man from the land of Canaan is come to dwell in the land, and he has a sister that is exceeding fair.

5E Abimeleque ouviu as palavras de seus servos que elogiaram Sara para ele, e Abimeleque enviou seus oficiais, e eles trouxeram Sara ao rei.

5And Abimelech heard the words of his servants who praised Sarah to him, and Abimelech sent his officers, and they brought Sarah to the king.

6E Sara veio à casa de Abimeleque, e o rei viu que Sara era linda, e ela lhe agradou muito.

6And Sarah came to the house of Abimelech, and the king saw that Sarah was beautiful, and she pleased him exceedingly.

7E ele se aproximou dela e disse-lhe: Quem é para ti aquele homem com quem vieste para a nossa terra? e Sara respondeu e disse que Ele é meu irmão, e viemos da terra de Canaã para morar onde quer que pudéssemos encontrar um lugar.

7And he approached her and said to her, What is that man to thee with whom thou didst come to our land? and Sarah answered and said He is my brother, and we came from the land of Canaan to dwell wherever we could find a place.

8E Abimeleque disse a Sara: Eis que minha terra está diante de ti, coloque teu irmão em qualquer parte desta terra que te agrade, e será nosso dever exaltá-lo e elevá-lo acima de todo o povo da terra, já que ele é teu irmão.

8And Abimelech said to Sarah, Behold my land is before thee, place thy brother in any part of this land that pleases thee, and it will be our duty to exalt and elevate him above all the people of the land since he is thy brother.

9E Abimeleque mandou chamar Abraão, e Abraão veio a Abimeleque.

9And Abimelech sent for Abraham, and Abraham came to Abimelech.

10E Abimeleque disse a Abraão: Eis que dei ordens para que sejas honrado como desejas por causa de tua irmã Sara.

10And Abimelech said to Abraham, Behold I have given orders that thou shalt be honored as thou desirest on account of thy sister Sarah.

11E Abraão saiu da presença do rei, e o presente do rei o seguiu.

11And Abraham went forth from the king, and the king's present followed him.

12Como no entardecer, antes que os homens se deitassem para descansar, o rei estava sentado em seu trono, e um sono profundo caiu sobre ele, e ele se deitou no trono e dormiu até de manhã.

12As at evening time, before men lie down to rest, the king was sitting upon his throne, and a deep sleep fell upon him, and he lay upon the throne and slept till morning.

13E ele sonhou que um anjo do Senhor veio até ele com uma espada desembainhada na mão, e o anjo estava sobre Abimeleque, e desejava matá-lo com a espada, e o rei ficou aterrorizado em seu sonho, e disse ao anjo: Em que pequei contra ti, para que vens me matar com a tua espada?

13And he dreamed that an angel of the Lord came to him with a drawn sword in his hand, and the angel stood over Abimelech, and wished to slay him with the sword, and the king was terrified in his dream, and said to the angel, In what have I sinned against thee that thou comest to slay me with thy sword?

14E o anjo respondeu e disse a Abimeleque: Eis que morres por causa da mulher que ontem à noite trouxeste para tua casa, porque ela é uma mulher casada, a esposa de Abraão que veio à tua casa; agora, portanto, devolva a esse homem sua esposa, porque ela é sua esposa; e se você não a devolver, saiba que certamente morrerá, você e todos os que lhe pertencem.

14And the angel answered and said to Abimelech, Behold thou diest on account of the woman which thou didst yesternight bring to thy house, for she is a married woman, the wife of Abraham who came to thy house; now therefore return that man his wife, for she is his wife; and shouldst thou not return her, know that thou wilt surely die, thou and all belonging to thee.

15E naquela noite houve um grande clamor na terra dos filisteus, e os habitantes da terra viram a figura de um homem de pé com uma espada desembainhada na mão e ele feriu os habitantes da terra com a espada, sim, ele continuou a feri-los.

15And on that night there was a great outcry in the land of the Philistines, and the inhabitants of the land saw the figure of a man standing with a drawn sword in his hand, and he smote the inhabitants of the land with the sword, yea he continued to smite them.

16E o anjo do Senhor feriu toda a terra dos filisteus naquela noite, e houve uma grande confusão naquela noite e na manhã seguinte.

16And the angel of the Lord smote the whole land of the Philistines on that night, and there was a great confusion on that night and on the following morning.

17E todo ventre foi fechado, e todos os seus fluxos, e a mão do Senhor estava sobre eles por causa de Sara, esposa de Abraão, a quem Abimeleque havia tomado.

17And every womb was closed, and all their issues, and the hand of the Lord was upon them on account of Sarah, wife of Abraham, whom Abimelech had taken.

18E pela manhã Abimeleque levantou-se com terror e confusão e com grande pavor, e ele enviou e chamou seus servos, e ele relatou seu sonho a eles, e o povo ficou com muito medo.

18And in the morning Abimelech rose with terror and confusion and with a great dread, and he sent and had his servants called in, and he related his dream to them, and the people were greatly afraid.

19E um homem que estava entre os servos do rei respondeu ao rei, dizendo: Ó rei soberano, devolve esta mulher ao seu marido, pois ele é seu marido, pois o mesmo aconteceu com o rei do Egito quando este homem veio ao Egito.

19And one man standing amongst the servants of the king answered the king, saying, O sovereign king, restore this woman to her husband, for he is her husband, for the like happened to the king of Egypt when this man came to Egypt.

20E ele disse a respeito de sua esposa: Ela é minha irmã, pois tal é sua maneira de agir quando vem morar na terra em que é estrangeiro.

20And he said concerning his wife, She is my sister, for such is his manner of doing when he cometh to dwell in the land in which he is a stranger.

21E Faraó enviou e tomou esta mulher por esposa e o Senhor trouxe sobre ele pragas graves até que ele devolveu a mulher ao seu marido.

21And Pharaoh sent and took this woman for a wife and the Lord brought upon him grievous plagues until he returned the woman to her husband.

22Agora, portanto, ó rei soberano, saiba o que aconteceu ontem à noite com toda a terra, pois houve uma grande consternação e grande dor e lamentação, e sabemos que foi por causa da mulher que tu tomaste.

22Now therefore, O sovereign king, know what happened yesternight to the whole land, for there was a very great consternation and great pain and lamentation, and we know that it was on account of the woman which thou didst take.

23Agora, portanto, devolva esta mulher a seu marido, para que não nos aconteça o que aconteceu com Faraó, rei do Egito, e seus súditos, e para que não morramos; e Abimeleque apressou-se e chamou e chamou Sara, e ela veio diante dele, e ele chamou Abraão, e ele veio diante dele.

23Now, therefore, restore this woman to her husband, lest it should befall us as it did to Pharaoh king of Egypt and his subjects, and that we may not die; and Abimelech hastened and called and had Sarah called for, and she came before him, and he had Abraham called for, and he came before him.

24E Abimeleque lhes disse: Que obra é essa que vocês estão fazendo, dizendo que são irmão e irmã, e eu tomei esta mulher por esposa?

24And Abimelech said to them, What is this work you have been doing in saying you are brother and sister, and I took this woman for a wife?

25E Abraão disse: Porque pensei que sofreria a morte por causa de minha esposa; e Abimeleque tomou ovelhas e gado, e servos e servas, e mil peças de prata, e ele os deu a Abraão, e ele devolveu Sara a ele.

25And Abraham said, Because I thought I should suffer death on account of my wife; and Abimelech took flocks and herds, and men servants and maid servants, and a thousand pieces of silver, and he gave them to Abraham, and he returned Sarah to him.

26E Abimeleque disse a Abraão: Eis que toda a terra está diante de ti, habita nela onde quiseres.

26And Abimelech said to Abraham, Behold the whole land is before thee, dwell in it wherever thou shalt choose.

27E Abraão e Sara, sua esposa, saíram da presença do rei com honra e respeito, e habitaram na terra, mesmo em Gerar.

27And Abraham and Sarah, his wife, went forth from the king's presence with honor and respect, and they dwelt in the land, even in Gerar.

28E todos os habitantes da terra dos filisteus e os servos do rei ainda sofriam, por causa da praga que o anjo lhes havia infligido durante toda a noite por causa de Sara.

28And all the inhabitants of the land of the Philistines and the king's servants were still in pain, through the plague which the angel had inflicted upon them the whole night on account of Sarah.

29E Abimeleque mandou chamar Abraão, dizendo: Roga agora pelos teus servos ao Senhor teu Deus, para que ele tire esta mortalidade de entre nós.

29And Abimelech sent for Abraham, saying, Pray now for thy servants to the Lord thy God, that he may put away this mortality from amongst us.

30E Abraão orou por causa de Abimeleque e seus súditos, e o Senhor ouviu a oração de Abraão, e ele curou Abimeleque e todos os seus súditos.

30And Abraham prayed on account of Abimelech and his subjects, and the Lord heard the prayer of Abraham, and he healed Abimelech and all his subjects.
