Livro de Jasher 1

1E Deus disse: Façamos o homem à nossa imagem, conforme a nossa semelhança, e Deus criou o homem à sua imagem.

1And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and God created man in his own image.

2E Deus formou o homem da terra, e ele soprou em suas narinas o fôlego de vida, e o homem tornou-se uma alma vivente dotada de fala.

2And God formed man from the ground, and he blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul endowed with speech.

3E o Senhor disse: Não é bom que o homem esteja só; farei dele uma companheira.

3And the Lord said, It is not good for man to be alone; I will make unto him a helpmeet.

4E o Senhor fez cair um sono profundo sobre Adão, e ele dormiu, e tirou uma de suas costelas, e construiu carne sobre ela, e a formou e a trouxe a Adão, e Adão acordou de seu sono, e eis que uma mulher estava diante dele.

4And the Lord caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept, and he took away one of his ribs, and he built flesh upon it, and formed it and brought it to Adam, and Adam awoke from his sleep, and behold a woman was standing before him.

5E ele disse: Este é um osso dos meus ossos e será chamada mulher, porque isto foi tirado do homem; e Adão chamou-lhe o nome de Eva, porque ela era a mãe de todos os viventes.

5And he said, This is a bone of my bones and it shall be called woman, for this has been taken from man; and Adam called her name Eve, for she was the mother of all living.

6E Deus os abençoou e chamou seus nomes de Adão e Eva no dia em que os criou, e o Senhor Deus disse: Frutificai e multiplicai-vos e enchei a terra.

6And God blessed them and called their names Adam and Eve in the day that he created them, and the Lord God said, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

7E o Senhor Deus tomou Adão e sua esposa, e os colocou no jardim do Éden para lavá-lo e guardá-lo; e ele lhes ordenou e disse-lhes: De toda árvore do jardim podereis comer, mas da árvore do conhecimento do bem e do mal não comereis, porque no dia em que dela comerdes certamente morrereis.

7And the Lord God took Adam and his wife, and he placed them in the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it; and he commanded them and said unto them, From every tree of the garden you may eat, but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.

8E quando Deus os abençoou e ordenou, ele se afastou deles, e Adão e sua esposa habitaram no jardim de acordo com a ordem que o Senhor lhes havia ordenado.

8And when God had blessed and commanded them, he went from them, and Adam and his wife dwelt in the garden according to the command which the Lord had commanded them.

9E a serpente, que Deus havia criado com eles na terra, veio até eles para incitá-los a transgredir a ordem de Deus que ele lhes havia ordenado.

9And the serpent, which God had created with them in the earth, came to them to incite them to transgress the command of God which he had commanded them.

10E a serpente seduziu e persuadiu a mulher a comer da árvore do conhecimento, e a mulher deu ouvidos à voz da serpente, e ela transgrediu a palavra de Deus, e tirou da árvore do conhecimento do bem e do mal, e ela comeu, e tirou dela e deu também ao seu marido e ele comeu.

10And the serpent enticed and persuaded the woman to eat from the tree of knowledge, and the woman hearkened to the voice of the serpent, and she transgressed the word of God, and took from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and she ate, and she took from it and gave also to her husband and he ate.

11E Adão e sua esposa transgrediram a ordem de Deus que ele lhes ordenou, e Deus sabia disso, e sua ira se acendeu contra eles e ele os amaldiçoou.

11And Adam and his wife transgressed the command of God which he commanded them, and God knew it, and his anger was kindled against them and he cursed them.

12E o Senhor Deus os expulsou naquele dia do jardim do Éden, para cultivar a terra de onde foram tirados, e eles foram e habitaram a leste do jardim do Éden; e Adão conheceu sua esposa Eva e ela deu à luz dois filhos e três filhas.

12And the Lord God drove them that day from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which they were taken, and they went and dwelt at the east of the garden of Eden; and Adam knew his wife Eve and she bore two sons and three daughters.

13E ela chamou o nome do primogênito Caim, dizendo: Obtive um homem do Senhor, e o nome do outro ela chamou de Abel, pois ela disse: Em vaidade viemos à terra, e em vaidade seremos tirados dela.

13And she called the name of the first born Cain, saying, I have obtained a man from the Lord, and the name of the other she called Abel, for she said, In vanity we came into the earth, and in vanity we shall be taken from it.

14E os meninos cresceram e seu pai deu-lhes posse da terra; e Caim era lavrador da terra, e Abel pastor de ovelhas.

14And the boys grew up and their father gave them a possession in the land; and Cain was a tiller of the ground, and Abel a keeper of sheep.

15E foi ao fim de alguns anos que eles trouxeram uma oferta aproximada ao Senhor, e Caim trouxe do fruto da terra, e Abel trouxe dos primogênitos do seu rebanho da gordura do mesmo, e Deus se voltou e se inclinou para Abel e sua oferta, e um fogo desceu do Senhor do céu e o consumiu.

15And it was at the expiration of a few years, that they brought an approximating offering to the Lord, and Cain brought from the fruit of the ground, and Abel brought from the firstlings of his flock from the fat thereof, and God turned and inclined to Abel and his offering, and a fire came down from the Lord from heaven and consumed it.

16E para Caim e sua oferta o Senhor não se voltou, e ele não se inclinou a isso, pois ele havia trazido do fruto inferior da terra diante do Senhor, e Caim ficou com ciúmes de seu irmão Abel por causa disso, e ele procurou um pretexto para matá-lo.

16And unto Cain and his offering the Lord did not turn, and he did not incline to it, for he had brought from the inferior fruit of the ground before the Lord, and Cain was jealous against his brother Abel on account of this, and he sought a pretext to slay him.

17E algum tempo depois, Caim e Abel, seu irmão, foram um dia ao campo para fazer seu trabalho; e ambos estavam no campo, Caim cultivando e arando sua terra e Abel pastoreando seu rebanho; e o rebanho passou pela parte que Caim havia arado no solo, e isso entristeceu muito Caim por causa disso.

17And in some time after, Cain and Abel his brother, went one day into the field to do their work; and they were both in the field, Cain tilling and ploughing his ground, and Abel feeding his flock; and the flock passed that part which Cain had ploughed in the ground, and it sorely grieved Cain on this account.

18E Caim se aproximou de seu irmão Abel com raiva, e disse-lhe: O que há entre mim e ti, para que venhas habitar e trazer o teu rebanho para pastar na minha terra?

18And Cain approached his brother Abel in anger, and he said unto him, What is there between me and thee, that thou comest to dwell and bring thy flock to feed in my land?

19E Abel respondeu a seu irmão Caim e disse-lhe: Que há entre mim e ti, para que comas a carne do meu rebanho e te vistas com a sua lã?

19And Abel answered his brother Cain and said unto him, What is there between me and thee, that thou shalt eat the flesh of my flock and clothe thyself with their wool?

20E agora, portanto, tire a lã das minhas ovelhas com as quais você se vestiu e recompense-me pelos frutos e pela carne que você comeu, e quando você fizer isso, eu irei da sua terra como você disse?

20And now therefore, put off the wool of my sheep with which thou hast clothed thyself, and recompense me for their fruit and flesh which thou hast eaten, and when thou shalt have done this, I will then go from thy land as thou hast said?

21E Caim disse a seu irmão Abel: Certamente, se eu te matar hoje, quem exigirá de mim o teu sangue?

21And Cain said to his brother Abel, Surely if I slay thee this day, who will require thy blood from me?

22E Abel respondeu a Caim, dizendo: Certamente Deus que nos criou na terra, ele vingará minha causa, e exigirá de ti meu sangue, caso me mates, pois o Senhor é o juiz e árbitro, e é ele quem recompensará o homem de acordo com sua maldade, e o homem ímpio de acordo com a maldade que ele pode fazer na terra.

22And Abel answered Cain, saying, Surely God who has made us in the earth, he will avenge my cause, and he will require my blood from thee shouldst thou slay me, for the Lord is the judge and arbiter, and it is he who will requite man according to his evil, and the wicked man according to the wickedness that he may do upon earth.

23E agora, se você me matar aqui, certamente Deus conhece seus pontos de vista secretos e irá julgá-lo pelo mal que você declarou fazer a mim neste dia.

23And now, if thou shouldst slay me here, surely God knoweth thy secret views, and will judge thee for the evil which thou didst declare to do unto me this day.

24E quando Caim ouviu as palavras que Abel, seu irmão, havia falado, eis que a ira de Caim se acendeu contra seu irmão Abel por declarar isso.

24And when Cain heard the words which Abel his brother had spoken, behold the anger of Cain was kindled against his brother Abel for declaring this thing.

25E Caim apressou-se e levantou-se, e pegou a parte de ferro de seu instrumento de arar, com a qual ele repentinamente feriu seu irmão e o matou, e Caim derramou o sangue de seu irmão Abel sobre a terra, e o sangue de Abel correu sobre a terra diante do rebanho.

25And Cain hastened and rose up, and took the iron part of his ploughing instrument, with which he suddenly smote his brother and he slew him, and Cain spilt the blood of his brother Abel upon the earth, and the blood of Abel streamed upon the earth before the flock.

26E depois disso Caim se arrependeu de ter matado seu irmão, e ele ficou tristemente triste, e chorou por ele e isso o irritou extremamente.

26And after this Cain repented having slain his brother, and he was sadly grieved, and he wept over him and it vexed him exceedingly.

27E Caim levantou-se e cavou um buraco no campo, onde colocou o corpo de seu irmão, e levantou o pó sobre ele.

27And Cain rose up and dug a hole in the field, wherein he put his brother's body, and he turned the dust over it.

28E o Senhor soube o que Caim tinha feito a seu irmão, e o Senhor apareceu a Caim e disse-lhe: Onde está Abel, teu irmão, que estava contigo?

28And the Lord knew what Cain had done to his brother, and the Lord appeared to Cain and said unto him, Where is Abel thy brother that was with thee?

29E Caim dissimulou e disse: Não sei, sou o guardião do meu irmão? E o Senhor lhe disse: Que fizeste? A voz do sangue do teu irmão clama a mim desde a terra onde o mataste.

29And Cain dissembled, and said, I do not know, am I my brother's keeper? And the Lord said unto him, What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground where thou hast slain him.

30Pois você matou seu irmão e disfarçou diante de mim, e imaginou em seu coração que eu não te via, nem conhecia todas as suas ações.

30For thou hast slain thy brother and hast dissembled before me, and didst imagine in thy heart that I saw thee not, nor knew all thy actions.

31Mas você fez isso e matou seu irmão por nada e porque ele falou corretamente com você, e agora, portanto, amaldiçoado seja você da terra que abriu sua boca para receber o sangue de seu irmão de sua mão, e onde você o enterrou.

31But thou didst this thing and didst slay thy brother for naught and because he spoke rightly to thee, and now, therefore, cursed be thou from the ground which opened its mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand, and wherein thou didst bury him.

32E acontecerá que quando você a cultivar, ela não mais lhe dará a força como no início, pois a terra produzirá espinhos e cardos, e você estará se movendo e vagando pela terra até o dia da sua morte.

32And it shall be when thou shalt till it, it shall no more give thee its strength as in the beginning, for thorns and thistles shall the ground produce, and thou shalt be moving and wandering in the earth until the day of thy death.

33E naquele tempo Caim saiu da presença do Senhor, do lugar onde estava, e foi se movendo e vagando pela terra em direção ao leste do Éden, ele e todos os que lhe pertenciam.

33And at that time Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, from the place where he was, and he went moving and wandering in the land toward the east of Eden, he and all belonging to him.

34E Caim conheceu sua esposa naqueles dias, e ela concebeu e deu à luz um filho, e ele chamou seu nome Enoque, dizendo: Naquele tempo o Senhor começou a dar-lhe descanso e tranquilidade na terra.

34And Cain knew his wife in those days, and she conceived and bare a son, and he called his name Enoch, saying, In that time the Lord began to give him rest and quiet in the earth.

35E naquele tempo Caim também começou a construir uma cidade: e edificou a cidade e chamou o nome da cidade Enoque, conforme o nome de seu filho; pois naqueles dias o Senhor lhe deu descanso na terra, e ele não se moveu nem vagueou como no início.

35And at that time Cain also began to build a city: and he built the city and he called the name of the city Enoch, according to the name of his son; for in those days the Lord had given him rest upon the earth, and he did not move about and wander as in the beginning.

36E Irad nasceu para Enoque, e Irad gerou Mechuyael e Mechuyael gerou Methusael.

36And Irad was born to Enoch, and Irad begat Mechuyael and Mechuyael begat Methusael.
