Lamentações 4

1Como se escureceu o ouro! Como se mudou o ouro puro e bom! Como estão espalhadas as pedras do santuário sobre cada rua!

1How is the gold become dim! {how} is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.

2Os preciosos filhos de Sião, avaliados a puro ouro, como são agora reputados por vasos de barro, obra das mãos do oleiro!

2The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

3Até os chacais abaixam o peito, dão de mamar aos seus filhos; mas a filha do meu povo tornou-se cruel como os avestruzes no deserto.

3Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people {is become} cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness. {sea...: or, sea calves}

4A língua do que mama fica pegada pela sede ao seu paladar; os meninos pedem pão, e ninguém lho reparte.

4The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, {and} no man breaketh {it} unto them.

5Os que comiam comidas finas agora desfalecem nas ruas; os que se criaram em carmesim abraçam monturos.

5They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.

6Porque maior é a iniqüidade da filha do meu povo do que o pecado de Sodoma, a qual foi subvertida como num momento, sem que mãos lhe tocassem.

6For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her. {punishment of the iniquity: or, iniquity}

7Os seus nobres eram mais puros do que a neve, mais brancos do que o leite, mais vermelhos de corpo do que os rubis, e mais polidos do que a safira.

7Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing {was} of sapphire:

8Mas agora escureceu-se o seu aspecto mais do que o negrume; não são conhecidos nas ruas; a sua pele se lhes pegou aos ossos, secou-se, tornou-se como um pau.

8Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick. {blacker...: Heb. darker than blackness}

9Os mortos à espada foram mais ditosos do que os mortos à fome; porque estes morreram lentamente, por falta dos frutos dos campos.

9{They that be} slain with the sword are better than {they that be} slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for {want of} the fruits of the field. {pine...: Heb. flow out}

10As mãos das mulheres compassivas cozeram seus próprios filhos; serviram-lhes de alimento na destruição da filha do meu povo.

10The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children: they were their meat in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

11Deu o Senhor cumprimento ao seu furor; derramou o ardor da sua ira, e acendeu fogo em Sião, que consumiu os seus fundamentos.

11The LORD hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.

12Não creram os reis da terra, nem todos os moradores do mundo, que entrasse o adversário e o inimigo pelas portas de Jerusalém.

12The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.

13Foi por causa dos pecados dos profetas, das maldades dos seus sacerdotes, que derramaram o sangue dos justos no meio dela.

13For the sins of her prophets, {and} the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

14Vagueiam como cegos nas ruas, andam contaminados de sangue; de tal sorte que ninguém pode tocar nas suas roupas.

14They have wandered {as} blind {men} in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments. {so...: or, in that they could not but touch}

15Desviai-vos, imundos! gritavam-lhes; desviai-vos, desviai-vos, não toqueis! quando fugiram e também andaram errantes, dizia-se entre os gentios: Nunca mais morarão aqui.

15They cried unto them, Depart ye; {it is} unclean; depart, depart, touch not: when they fled away and wandered, they said among the heathen, They shall no more sojourn {there}. {it...: or, ye polluted}

16A face indignada do Senhor os espalhou, ele nunca mais tornará a olhar para eles; não respeitaram a pessoa dos sacerdotes, nem se compadeceram dos velhos.

16The anger of the LORD hath divided them; he will no more regard them: they respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the elders. {anger: or, face}

17Os nossos olhos desfaleciam, esperando o nosso vão socorro; olhávamos atentamente para uma nação que não nos podia livrar.

17As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation {that} could not save {us}.

18Espiaram os nossos passos, de maneira que não podíamos andar pelas nossas ruas; está chegado o nosso fim, estão cumpridos os nossos dias, porque é vindo o nosso fim.

18They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.

19Os nossos perseguidores foram mais ligeiros do que as águias dos céus; sobre os montes nos perseguiram, no deserto nos armaram ciladas.

19Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

20O fôlego das nossas narinas, o ungido do Senhor, foi preso nas suas covas; dele dizíamos: Debaixo da sua sombra viveremos entre os gentios.

20The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.

21Regozija-te e alegra-te, ó filha de Edom, que habitas na terra de Uz; o cálice passará também para ti; embebedar-te-ás, e te descobrirás.

21Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

22O castigo da tua maldade está consumado, ó filha de Sião; ele nunca mais te levará para o cativeiro; ele visitará a tua maldade, ó filha de Edom, descobrirá os teus pecados.

22The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins. {The...: or, Thine iniquity} {discover...: or, carry thee captive for thy sins}
