Juízes 6

1Porém os filhos de Israel fizeram o que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR; e o SENHOR os deu nas mãos dos midianitas por sete anos.

1And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.

2E, prevalecendo a mão dos midianitas sobre Israel, fizeram os filhos de Israel para si, por causa dos midianitas, as covas que estão nos montes, as cavernas e as fortificações.

2And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: {and} because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which {are} in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds. {prevailed: Heb. was strong}

3Porque sucedia que, semeando Israel, os midianitas e os amalequitas, e também os do oriente, contra ele subiam.

3And {so} it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;

4E punham-se contra ele em campo, e destruíam os frutos da terra, até chegarem a Gaza; e não deixavam mantimento em Israel, nem ovelhas, nem bois, nem jumentos.

4And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass. {sheep: or goat}

5Porque subiam com os seus gados e tendas; vinham como gafanhotos, em grande multidão que não se podia contar, nem a eles nem aos seus camelos; e entravam na terra, para a destruir.

5For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; {for} both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.

6Assim Israel empobreceu muito pela presença dos midianitas; então os filhos de Israel clamaram ao Senhor.

6And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.

7E sucedeu que, clamando os filhos de Israel ao Senhor por causa dos midianitas,

7And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites,

8Enviou o Senhor um profeta aos filhos de Israel, que lhes disse: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Do Egito eu vos fiz subir, e vos tirei da casa da servidão;

8That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; {a prophet: Heb. a man a prophet}

9E vos livrei da mão dos egípcios, e da mão de todos quantos vos oprimiam; e os expulsei de diante de vós, e a vós dei a sua terra.

9And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land;

10E vos disse: Eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus; não temais aos deuses dos amorreus, em cuja terra habitais; mas não destes ouvidos à minha voz.

10And I said unto you, I {am} the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.

11Então o anjo do Senhor veio, e assentou-se debaixo do carvalho que está em Ofra, que pertencia a Joás, abiezrita; e Gideão, seu filho, estava malhando o trigo no lagar, para o salvar dos midianitas.

11And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which {was} in Ophrah, that {pertained} unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide {it} from the Midianites. {Gideon: Gr. Gedeon} {to hide...: Heb. to cause it to flee}

12Então o anjo do Senhor lhe apareceu, e lhe disse: O Senhor é contigo, homem valoroso.

12And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD {is} with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

13Mas Gideão lhe respondeu: Ai, Senhor meu, se o Senhor é conosco, por que tudo isto nos sobreveio? E que é feito de todas as suas maravilhas que nossos pais nos contaram, dizendo: Não nos fez o Senhor subir do Egito? Porém agora o Senhor nos desamparou, e nos deu nas mãos dos midianitas.

13And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where {be} all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

14Então o Senhor olhou para ele, e disse: Vai nesta tua força, e livrarás a Israel das mãos dos midianitas; porventura não te enviei eu?

14And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

15E ele lhe disse: Ai, Senhor meu, com que livrarei a Israel? Eis que a minha família é a mais pobre em Manassés, e eu o menor na casa de meu pai.

15And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family {is} poor in Manasseh, and I {am} the least in my father's house. {my family...: Heb. my thousand is the meanest}

16E o Senhor lhe disse: Porquanto eu hei de ser contigo, tu ferirás aos midianitas como se fossem um só homem.

16And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.

17E ele disse: Se agora tenho achado graça aos teus olhos, dá-me um sinal de que és tu que falas comigo.

17And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.

18Rogo-te que daqui não te apartes, até que eu volte e traga o meu presente, e o ponha perante ti. E disse: Eu esperarei até que voltes.

18Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set {it} before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again. {present: or, meat offering}

19E entrou Gideão e preparou um cabrito e pães ázimos de um efa de farinha; a carne pôs num cesto e o caldo pôs numa panela; e trouxe-lho até debaixo do carvalho, e lho ofereceu.

19And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought {it} out unto him under the oak, and presented {it}. {a kid: Heb. a kid of the goats}

20Porém o anjo de Deus lhe disse: Toma a carne e os pães ázimos, e põe-nos sobre esta penha e derrama-lhe o caldo. E assim fez.

20And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay {them} upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.

21E o anjo do Senhor estendeu a ponta do cajado, que estava na sua mão, e tocou a carne e os pães ázimos; então subiu o fogo da penha, e consumiu a carne e os pães ázimos; e o anjo do Senhor desapareceu de seus olhos.

21Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that {was} in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.

22Então viu Gideão que era o anjo do SENHOR e disse: Ah, Senhor DEUS, pois vi o anjo do SENHOR face a face.

22And when Gideon perceived that he {was} an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.

23Porém o Senhor lhe disse: Paz seja contigo; não temas; não morrerás.

23And the LORD said unto him, Peace {be} unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.

24Então Gideão edificou ali um altar ao SENHOR, e chamou-lhe: O SENHOR É PAZ; e ainda até o dia de hoje está em Ofra dos abiezritas.

24Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it {is} yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. {Jehovahshalom: that is, The LORD send peace}

25E aconteceu naquela mesma noite, que o Senhor lhe disse: Toma o boi que pertence a teu pai, a saber, o segundo boi de sete anos, e derruba o altar de Baal, que é de teu pai; e corta o bosque que está ao pé dele.

25And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that {is} by it: {even: or, and}

26E edifica ao Senhor teu Deus um altar no cume deste lugar forte, num lugar conveniente; e toma o segundo boi, e o oferecerás em holocausto com a lenha que cortares do bosque.

26And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down. {rock: Heb. strong place} {in the ordered...: or, in an orderly manner}

27Então Gideão tomou dez homens dentre os seus servos, e fez como o Senhor lhe dissera; e sucedeu que, temendo ele a casa de seu pai, e os homens daquela cidade, não o fez de dia, mas fê-lo de noite.

27Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and {so} it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do {it} by day, that he did {it} by night.

28Levantando-se, pois, os homens daquela cidade, de madrugada, eis que estava o altar de Baal derrubado, e o bosque estava ao pé dele, cortado; e o segundo boi oferecido no altar que fora edificado.

28And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that {was} by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar {that was} built.

29E uns aos outros disseram: Quem fez esta coisa? E, esquadrinhando, e inquirindo, disseram: Gideão, o filho de Joás, fez esta coisa.

29And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing.

30Então os homens daquela cidade disseram a Joás: Tira para fora a teu filho; para que morra; pois derribou o altar de Baal, e cortou o bosque que estava ao pé dele.

30Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that {was} by it.

31Porém Joás disse a todos os que se puseram contra ele: Contendereis vós por Baal? Livrá-lo-eis vós? Qualquer que por ele contender ainda esta manhã será morto; se é deus, por si mesmo contenda; pois derrubaram o seu altar.

31And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst {it is yet} morning: if he {be} a god, let him plead for himself, because {one} hath cast down his altar.

32Por isso naquele dia lhe chamaram Jerubaal, dizendo: Baal contenda contra ele, pois derrubou o seu altar.

32Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar. {Jerubbaal: that is, Let Baal plead} {Jerubbesheth: that is, Let the shameful thing plead}

33E todos os midianitas e amalequitas, e os filhos do oriente se ajuntaram, e passaram, e acamparam no vale de Jizreel.

33Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel.

34Então o Espírito do SENHOR revestiu a Gideão, o qual tocou a buzina, e os abiezritas se ajuntaram após ele.

34But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered after him. {came...: Heb. clothed} {gathered: Heb. called}

35E enviou mensageiros por toda a tribo de Manassés, que também se ajuntou após ele; também enviou mensageiros a Aser, e a Zebulom, e a Naftali, que saíram-lhe ao encontro.

35And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh; who also was gathered after him: and he sent messengers unto Asher, and unto Zebulun, and unto Naphtali; and they came up to meet them. {gathered: Heb. called}

36E disse Gideão a Deus: Se hás de livrar a Israel por minha mão, como disseste,

36And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,

37Eis que eu porei um velo de lã na eira; se o orvalho estiver somente no velo, e toda a terra ficar seca, então conhecerei que hás de livrar a Israel por minha mão, como disseste.

37Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; {and} if the dew be on the fleece only, and {it be} dry upon all the earth {beside}, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.

38E assim sucedeu; porque no outro dia se levantou de madrugada, e apertou o velo; e do orvalho que espremeu do velo, encheu uma taça de água.

38And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.

39E disse Gideão a Deus: Não se acenda contra mim a tua ira, se ainda falar só esta vez; rogo-te que só esta vez faça a prova com o velo; rogo-te que só o velo fique seco, e em toda a terra haja o orvalho.

39And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.

40E Deus assim fez naquela noite; pois só o velo ficou seco, e sobre toda a terra havia orvalho.

40And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.
