Juízes 10

1E depois de Abimeleque, se levantou, para livrar a Israel, Tola, filho de Puá, filho de Dodo, homem de Issacar; e habitava em Samir, na montanha de Efraim.

1And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim. {defend: or, deliver: Heb. save}

2E julgou a Israel vinte e três anos; e morreu, e foi sepultado em Samir.

2And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.

3E depois dele se levantou Jair, gileadita, e julgou a Israel vinte e dois anos.

3And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two years.

4E tinha este trinta filhos, que cavalgavam sobre trinta jumentos; e tinham trinta cidades, a que chamaram Havote-Jair, até ao dia de hoje; as quais estão na terra de Gileade.

4And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havothjair unto this day, which {are} in the land of Gilead. {Havothjair: or, the villages of Jair}

5E morreu Jair, e foi sepultado em Camom.

5And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.

6Então tornaram os filhos de Israel a fazer o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, e serviram aos baalins, e a Astarote, e aos deuses da Síria, e aos deuses de Sidom, e aos deuses de Moabe, e aos deuses dos filhos de Amom, e aos deuses dos filisteus; e deixaram ao Senhor, e não o serviram.

6And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.

7E a ira do Senhor se acendeu contra Israel; e vendeu-os nas mãos dos filisteus, e nas mãos dos filhos de Amom.

7And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.

8E naquele mesmo ano oprimiram e vexaram aos filhos de Israel; dezoito anos oprimiram a todos os filhos de Israel que estavam além do Jordão, na terra dos amorreus, que está em Gileade.

8And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that {were} on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which {is} in Gilead. {oppressed: Heb. crushed}

9Até os filhos de Amom passaram o Jordão, para pelejar também contra Judá, e contra Benjamim, e contra a casa de Efraim; de modo que Israel ficou muito angustiado.

9Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.

10Então os filhos de Israel clamaram ao Senhor, dizendo: Contra ti havemos pecado, visto que deixamos a nosso Deus, e servimos aos baalins.

10And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.

11Porém o Senhor disse aos filhos de Israel: Porventura dos egípcios, e dos amorreus, e dos filhos de Amom, e dos filisteus,

11And the LORD said unto the children of Israel, {Did} not {I deliver you} from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

12E dos sidônios, e dos amalequitas, e dos maonitas, que vos oprimiam, quando a mim clamastes, não vos livrei das suas mãos?

12The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.

13Contudo vós me deixastes a mim, e servistes a outros deuses; pelo que não vos livrarei mais.

13Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

14Ide, e clamai aos deuses que escolhestes; que eles vos livrem no tempo do vosso aperto.

14Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

15Mas os filhos de Israel disseram ao Senhor: Pecamos; faze-nos conforme a tudo quanto te parecer bem aos teus olhos; tão-somente te rogamos que nos livres nesta vez.

15And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day. {seemeth...: Heb. is good in thine eyes}

16E tiraram os deuses alheios do meio de si, e serviram ao Senhor; então se angustiou a sua alma por causa da desgraça de Israel.

16And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel. {strange...: Heb. gods of strangers} {grieved: Heb. shortened}

17E os filhos de Amom se reuniram e se acamparam em Gileade; e também os de Israel se congregaram, e se acamparam em Mizpá.

17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh. {gathered: Heb. cried}

18Então o povo e os príncipes de Gileade disseram uns aos outros: Quem será o homem que começará a pelejar contra os filhos de Amom? Ele será por cabeça de todos os moradores de Gileade.

18And the people {and} princes of Gilead said one to another, What man {is he} that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
