Judite 6

1E quando cessou o tumulto dos homens que estavam ao redor do conselho, Holofernes, general supremo do exército da Assíria, disse a Aquior, na presença de todo o povo dos estrangeiros e de todos os filhos de Moabe:

1And when the tumult of men that were about the council was ceased, Holofernes the chief captain of the army of Assur said unto Achior and all the Moabites before all the company of other nations,

2E quem és tu, Aquior, e os mercenários de Efraim, para que profetizes hoje entre nós, e digas que não façamos guerra contra o povo de Israel, porque o seu Deus os defenderá? E quem é deus senão Nabucodonosor?

2And who art thou, Achior, and the hirelings of Ephraim, that thou hast prophesied against us as to day, and hast said, that we should not make war with the people of Israel, because their God will defend them? and who is God but Nabuchodonosor?

3Ele enviará a sua força e os destruirá da face da terra, e o seu Deus não os livrará; mas nós, seus servos, os feriremos como a um só homem, e não resistirão à força dos nossos cavalos.

3He will send his power, and will destroy them from the face of the earth, and their God shall not deliver them: but we his servants will destroy them as one man; for they are not able to sustain the power of our horses.

4Porque com eles os pisaremos; e os seus montes se embebedarão do seu sangue, e os seus campos se encherão dos seus mortos, e não se levantarão os seus pés diante de nós, mas serão totalmente destruídos, diz o rei Nabucodonosor, senhor de toda a terra; porque ele disse, e não será vã uma só palavra sua.

4For with them we will tread them under foot, and their mountains shall be drunken with their blood, and their fields shall be filled with their dead bodies, and their footsteps shall not be able to stand before us, for they shall utterly perish, saith king Nabuchodonosor, lord of all the earth: for he said, None of my words shall be in vain.

5E tu, Aquior, mercenário de Amon, que disseste estas palavras no dia da tua iniquidade, não verás mais a minha face desde este dia, até que eu me tenha vingado desta raça que saiu do Egito.

5And thou, Achior, an hireling of Ammon, which hast spoken these words in the day of thine iniquity, shalt see my face no more from this day, until I take vengeance of this nation that came out of Egypt.

6E então o ferro do meu exército e a multidão dos meus servos atravessarão os teus flancos, e cairás entre os seus feridos quando eu voltar.

6And then shall the sword of mine army, and the multitude of them that serve me, pass through thy sides, and thou shalt fall among their slain, when I return.

7E os meus servos te conduzirão à montanha, e te porão numa das cidades das subidas.

7Now therefore my servants shall bring thee back into the hill country, and shall set thee in one of the cities of the passages:

8E não perecerás enquanto não fores destruído com eles.

8And thou shalt not perish, till thou be destroyed with them.

9E se no teu coração tens esperança de que não sejam tomados, não decaia o teu semblante. Falei, e nenhuma das minhas palavras deixará de se cumprir.

9And if thou persuade thyself in thy mind that they shall be taken, let not thy countenance fall: I have spoken it, and none of my words shall be in vain.

10Então Holofernes mandou aos seus servos, que estavam na sua tenda, que prendessem a Aquior e o levassem a Betúlia, e o entregassem nas mãos dos filhos de Israel.

10Then Holofernes commanded his servants, that waited in his tent, to take Achior, and bring him to Bethulia, and deliver him into the hands of the children of Israel.

11E os seus servos o prenderam e o levaram para fora do acampamento, para a planície; e da planície subiram à montanha, e chegaram às fontes que estavam debaixo de Betúlia.

11So his servants took him, and brought him out of the camp into the plain, and they went from the midst of the plain into the hill country, and came unto the fountains that were under Bethulia.

12E quando os homens da cidade os viram no cume da montanha, tomaram as suas armas e saíram da cidade ao cume da montanha; e todo homem que usava funda lhes impedia a subida, atirando pedras contra eles.

12And when the men of the city saw them, they took up their weapons, and went out of the city to the top of the hill: and every man that used a sling kept them from coming up by casting of stones against them.

13E, descendo debaixo da montanha, amarraram a Aquior, deixaram-no prostrado ao pé da montanha, e voltaram para o seu senhor.

13Nevertheless having gotten privily under the hill, they bound Achior, and cast him down, and left him at the foot of the hill, and returned to their lord.

14Então os filhos de Israel desceram da sua cidade, aproximaram-se dele, desataram-no, levaram-no a Betúlia, e o apresentaram aos governantes da sua cidade.

14But the Israelites descended from their city, and came unto him, and loosed him, and brought him to Bethulia, and presented him to the governors of the city:

15Que eram naquele tempo Ozias, filho de Mica, da tribo de Simeão, e Cabris, filho de Otoniel, e Carmis, filho de Melquiel.

15Which were in those days Ozias the son of Micha, of the tribe of Simeon, and Chabris the son of Gothoniel, and Charmis the son of Melchiel.

16E convocaram todos os anciãos da cidade; e todos os jovens e as mulheres correram à assembleia; e puseram Aquior no meio de todo o povo. Então Ozias lhe perguntou o que tinha acontecido.

16And they called together all the ancients of the city, and all their youth ran together, and their women, to the assembly, and they set Achior in the midst of all their people. Then Ozias asked him of that which was done.

17E ele respondeu e lhes declarou as palavras do conselho de Holofernes, e todas as palavras que tinha dito no meio dos príncipes dos filhos da Assíria, e tudo o que Holofernes tinha falado arrogantemente contra a casa de Israel.

17And he answered and declared unto them the words of the council of Holofernes, and all the words that he had spoken in the midst of the princes of Assur, and whatsoever Holofernes had spoken proudly against the house of Israel.

18Então o povo se prostrou e adorou a Deus, e clamou dizendo:

18Then the people fell down and worshipped God, and cried unto God. saying,

19Ó Senhor, Deus do céu, olha para a sua arrogância, e tem misericórdia da humilhação da nossa raça, e olha hoje para a face dos que te são consagrados.

19O Lord God of heaven, behold their pride, and pity the low estate of our nation, and look upon the face of those that are sanctified unto thee this day.

20E consolaram a Aquior, e o louvaram grandemente.

20Then they comforted Achior, and praised him greatly.

21E Ozias o levou da assembleia para a sua casa, e deu um banquete aos anciãos; e toda aquela noite invocaram o Deus de Israel pedindo socorro.

21And Ozias took him out of the assembly unto his house, and made a feast to the elders; and they called on the God of Israel all that night for help.
