1E depois disso Judá falou com Jacó, seu pai, e disse a ele: "Curve seu arco, pai, e atire suas flechas e derrube o adversário e mate seu inimigo; tu tens o poder, porque nós não podemos matar seu irmão, porque ele é tal como tu, e ele é como tu então nós temos de honrá-lo.

1And after that Judah spake to Jacob, his father, and said unto him: "Bend thy bow, father, and send forth thy arrows and cast down the adversary and slay the enemy;

2Então Jacó curvou seu arco e atirou a flecha e atingiu Esaú, seu irmão e o matou.

2and mayest thou have the power, for we shall not slay thy brother, for he is such as thou, and he is like thee: let us give him (this) honour."

3E novamente ele atirou sua flecha e atingiu Adoran, o Sírio , no peito esquerdo, e o levou e o matou.

3Then Jacob bent his bow and sent forth the arrow and struck Esau, his brother, (on his right breast) and slew him.

4Então foram adiante os filhos de Jacó, eles e seus servos, dividiram-se em companhias nos quatro lados da torre.

4And again he sent forth an arrow and struck ’Adôrân the Aramaean, on the left breast, and drove him backward and slew him.

5E Judá foi adiante pela frente, e Naftali e Gade com ele e cinqüenta servos com ele no lado sul da torre, e eles mataram todos os que eles encontraram diante deles, e nenhum indivíduo escapou deles.

5And then went forth the sons of Jacob, they and their servants, dividing themselves into companies on the four sides of the tower.

6And Judah went forth in front, and Naphtali and Gad with him and fifty servants with him on the south side of the tower, and they slew all they found before them, and not one individual of them escaped.

7And Levi and Dan and Asher went forth on the east side of the tower, and fifty (men) with them, and they slew the fighting men of Moab and Ammon.

8And Reuben and Issachar and Zebulon went forth on the north side of the tower, and fifty men with them, and they slew the fighting men of the Philistines.

9E os filhos de Jacó os perseguiram até a montanha de Seir. E Jacó enterrou seu irmão na colina que é em Aduram, e ele voltou para sua casa.

9And Simeon and Benjamin and Enoch, Reuben's son, went forth on the west side of the tower, and fifty (men) with them, and they slew of Edom and of the Horites four hundred men, stout warriors; and six hundred fled,

10E os filhos de Jacó fizeram grande pressão sobre os filhos de Esaú nas montanhas de Seir, e dobraram o pescoço deles de modo que eles se tornaram servos dos filhos de Jacó.

10and four of the sons of Esau fled with them, and left their father lying slain, as he had fallen on the hill which is in ’Adûrâm.

11E eles enviaram a seu pai se eles deveriam fazer paz com eles ou matá-los.

11And the sons of Jacob pursued after them to the mountains of Seir. And Jacob buried his brother on the hill which is in ’Adûrâm, and he returned to his house.

12E Jacó enviou palavra a seus filhos que eles deveriam fazer paz, e eles fizeram paz com eles, e impuseram julgo de servidão sobre eles, de modo que eles pagassem tributo a Jacó e aos seus filhos sempre.

12And the sons of Jacob pressed hard upon the sons of Esau in the mountains of Seir, and bowed their necks so that they became servants of the sons of Jacob.

13E eles continuaram a pagar tributo a Jacó até o dia em que ele desceu para o Egito.

13And they sent to their father (to inquire) whether they should make peace with them or slay them.<br>And Jacob sent word to his sons that they should make peace,

14E dos filhos de Edom não caiu o julgo de servidão que os doze filhos de Jacó os impuseram até este dia. Lista dos reis de Edom.

14and they made peace with them, and placed the yoke of servitude upon them, so that they paid tribute to Jacob and to his sons always.

15E esses são os reis que reinaram em Edom antes de reinar qualquer rei sobre os filhos de Israel na terra de Edom.

15And they continued to pay tribute to Jacob until the day that he went down into Egypt.<br>And the sons of Edom have not got quit of the yoke of servitude which the twelve sons of Jacob had imposed on them until this day.

16Balaq, filho de Beor, reinou em Edom, e o nome da cidade dele era Danaba.

16And these are the kings that reigned in Edom before there reigned any king over the children of Israel [until this day] in the land of Edom....

17E Balaq morreu, e Joab, filho de Zara de Boser, reinou em seu lugar.

17And Bâlâq, the son of Beor, reigned in Edom, and the name of his city was Danâbâ.

18E Jobab morreu, e Asam, da terra de Teman, reinou em seu lugar.

18And Bâlâq died, and Jobab, the son of Zârâ of Bôsêr, reigned in his stead.

19E Asam morreu, e Adath, filho de Barad, que matou Midiam no campo de Moab, reinou em seu lugar, e o nome da cidade dele era Avith.

19And Jobab died, and ’Asâm, of the land of Têmân, reigned in his stead.<br>And ’Asâm died, and ’Adâth, the son of Barad, who slew Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead, and the name of his city was Avith.

20E Adath morreu, e Saloman, de Amaseca, reinou em seu lugar.

20And ’Adâth died, and Salman, from ’Amâsêqâ, reigned in his stead.

21E Salman morreu, e Saul de Raaboth rio, reinou em seu lugar.

21And Salman died, and Saul of Râ’abôth (by the) river, reigned in his stead.

22E Saul morreu, e Baelunan, filho de Achbor, reinou em seu lugar.

22And Saul died, and Ba’êlûnân, the son of Achbor, reigned in his stead.

23E Baelunan, o filho de Achbor morreu, e Adath reinou em seu lugar, e o nome de sua esposa era Maitabith, a filha de Matarat, filha de Metabedzab.

23And Ba’êlûnân, the son of Achbor, died, and ’Adâth reigned in his stead, and the name of his wife was Maiṭabîth, the daughter of Mâṭarat, the daughter of Mêtabêdzâ’ab.

24Esses são os reis que reinaram na terra de Edom.

24These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom.
