Jubileus 12

1E ele disse: "Eis que eu estou aqui meu filho." E ele disse: "Que ajuda ou benefício nós temos desses ídolos os quais tu adoras, e diante dos quais tu te curvas?

1And it came to pass in the sixth week, in the seventh year thereof, that Abram said to Terah his father, saying, "Father!" And he said, "Behold, here am I, my son."

2Porque não ha nenhum espírito neles, porque eles são formas mudas, e um engano ao coração. Não os adore!

2And he said, "What help and profit have we from those idols which thou dost worship, And before which thou dost bow thyself? For there is no spirit in them, For they are dumb forms, and a misleading of the heart. Worship them not:

3Adore ao Deus do céu, que faz a chuva e o orvalho descer sobre a terra e faz tudo sobre a terra, e criou tudo por sua palavra, e todo ser vivente está diante de sua face.

3Worship the God of heaven, Who causeth the rain and the dew to descend on the earth, And doeth everything upon the earth, And hath created everything by His word, And all life is from before His face.

4Porque tu adoras a coisas que não tem nenhum espírito nelas? Porque elas são trabalhos das mãos , e sobre seus ombros tu as carregas, e tu não recebes nenhuma ajuda delas, mas elas são grande motivo de vergonha a aqueles que a fazem, e um engano ao coração daqueles que as adoram. Não as adore!"

4Why do ye worship things that have no spirit in them? For they are the work of (men's) hands, And on your shoulders do ye bear them,

5E seu pai disse a ele: Eu também sei disso, meu filho, mas o que farei eu das pessoas que me fizeram servir diante deles?

5And ye have no help from them, But they are a great cause of shame to those who make them, And a misleading of the heart to those who worship them: Worship them not."

6Se eu contá-los a verdade, eles me matarão; porque a alma deles une-se a eles para adorarem-nos e honrarem-nos. mantenha o silêncio, meu filho, senão eles te matarão."

6And his father said unto him, "I also know it, my son, but what shall I do with a people who have made me to serve before them?

7And if I tell them the truth, they will slay me; for their soul cleaveth to them to worship them and honour them. Keep silent, my son, lest they slay thee."

8And these words he spake to his two brothers, and they were angry with him and he kept silent.

9And in the fortieth jubilee, in the second week, in the seventh year thereof, Abram took to himself a wife, and her name was Sarai, the daughter of his father, and she became his wife.

10And Haran, his brother, took to himself a wife in the third year of the third week, and she bare him a son in the seventh year of this week and he called his name Lot.

11E no décimo sexto ano da vida de Abram, ou seja, na quarta semana, no quarto ano Abram chegou a noite e queimou a casa dos ídolos, e ele queimou tudo o que havia na casa e ninguém soube.

11And Nahor, his brother, took to himself a wife.

12E eles levantaram durante a noite na tentativa de salvar seus deuses do meio do fogo.

12And in the sixtieth year of the life of Abram, that is, in the fourth week, in the fourth year thereof, Abram arose by night, and burned the house of the idols, and he burned all that was in the house, and no man knew it.

13And they arose in the night and sought to save their gods from the midst of the fire.

14And Haran hasted to save them, but the fire flamed over him, and he was burnt in the fire, and he died in Ur of the Chaldees before Terah his father, and they buried him in Ur of the Chaldees.

15And Terah went forth from Ur of the Chaldees, he and his sons, to go into the land of Lebanon and into the land of Canaan, and he dwelt in the land of Haran,

16E uma palavra veio ao seu coração e disse: "Todos os sinais das estrelas, e os sinais da lua e do sol estão todos nas mãos do Senhor. Porque eu procuro?

16and Abram, dwelt with Terah his father in Haran two weeks of years.

17And in the sixth week, in the fifth year thereof, Abram sat up throughout the night on the new moon of the seventh month to observe the stars from the evening to the morning, in order to see what would be the character of the year with regard to the rains,

18E ele orou naquela noite e disse: "Meu Deus, meu Deus Altíssimo, Tu somente é meu Deus, e Tu e Teu domínio eu escolhi. E tu criaste todas as coisas, e todas as coisas são obra de tuas mãos.

18and he was alone as he sat and observed.<br>And a word came into his heart and he said: "All the signs of the stars, and the signs of the moon and of the sun are all in the hand of the Lord.

19Livra-me das mãos dos espíritos malignos que tem domínio sobre os pensamentos dos corações dos homens, e não os deixe me desviar de ti, meu Deus. E estabeleça a mim e minha descendência para sempre de modo que nós não nos desviemos a partir de agora e para sempre. "

19Why do I search (them) out? If He desireth, He causeth it to rain, morning and evening; And if He desireth, He withholdeth it, And all things are in His hand."

20And he prayed that night and said "My God, God Most High, Thou alone art my God, And Thee and Thy dominion have I chosen. And Thou hast created all things, And all things that are are the work of Thy hands.

21Deliver me from the hands of evil spirits who have sway over the thoughts of men's hearts, And let them not lead me astray from Thee, my God.

22E eu te abençoarei e farei teu nome grande, e tu deverá ser abençoado na terra, e por ti todas as famílias da terra serão abençoadas, e eu abençoarei os que te abençoarem, e amaldiçoarei os que te amaldiçoarem.

22And stablish Thou me and my seed for ever That we go not astray from henceforth and for evermore."

23E eu serei Deus para ti e para seus filhos, e para seu netos,e para toda sua descendência. Não temas, porque de agora em diante e por todas as gerações eu serei teu Deus."

23And he said Shall I return unto Ur of the Chaldees who seek my face that I may return to them, or am I to remain here in this place?

24E o Senhor Deus disse: "Abra a boca e os ouvidos dele, para que ele possa ouvir e falar com sua boca, com o idioma que tem sido revelado"; Porque havia cessado das bocas de todos os filhos dos homens desde o dia da derribada . Hebraico: O idioma da criação.

24The right path before Thee prosper it in the hands of Thy servant that he may fulfil (it) and that I may not walk in the deceitfulness of my heart, O my God."

25E eu abri a boca dele e seus ouvidos e seus lábios, e eu comecei a falar com ele em Hebraico, o idioma da criação.

25And he made an end of speaking and praying, and behold the word of the Lord was sent to him through me, saying:

26E ele pegou os livros de seus pais, e estes eram escritos em Hebraico, e ele os traduziu, e ele começou a estudá-los, e eu fiz conhecido a ele aquilo que ele não conseguia , e ele estudou-os durante seis meses chuvosos.

26"Get thee up from thy country, and from thy kindred and from the house of thy father unto a land which I shall show thee,

27E aconteceu que no sétimo ano da sexta semana que ele falou com seu pai e o informou que ele deixaria Arã para ir conhecer a terra de Canaã e retornaria a ele.

27and I shall make thee a great and numerous nation. And I shall bless thee And I shall make thy name great, And thou wilt be blessed in the earth,

28E Terá, seu pai, disse a ele: "Vá em paz: Que o Deus eterno faça do seu caminho reto. E o Senhor te proteja de todo o mal, e conceda a ti graça, misericórdia e favor diante daqueles que verem a ti, e que nenhum filho dos homens tenha poder sobre ti para te fazer mal. Vá em paz.

28And in thee will all families of the earth be blessed, And I shall bless them that bless thee, And curse them that curse thee.

29E se tu veres uma terra agradável a teus olhos para nela habitar, então depois leve-me a ti, e leve Ló contigo, o filho de Arã, seu irmão como teu próprio filho: Que o Senhor seja contigo.

29And I shall be a God to thee and thy son, and to thy son's son, and to all thy seed:

30E Nahor teu irmão deixe-o comigo até que retornes em paz, e iremos contigo todos juntos."

30fear not, from henceforth and unto all generations of the earth I am thy God."

31—

31And the Lord God said: "Open his mouth and his ears, that he may hear and speak with his mouth, with the language which hath been revealed"; for it had ceased from the mouths of all the children of men from the day of the overthrow (of Babel). And I opened his mouth, and his ears and his lips, and I began to speak with him in Hebrew in the tongue of the creation.

32—

32And he took the books of his fathers, and these were written in Hebrew and he transcribed them, and he began from henceforth to study them, and I made known to him that which he could not (understand), and he studied them during the six rainy months.

33—

33And it came to pass in the seventh year of the sixth week that he spoke to his father, and informed him that he would leave Haran to go into the land of Canaan to see it and return to him.

34—

34And Terah his father said unto him; "Go in peace: May the eternal God make thy path straight, And the Lord [(be) with thee, and] protect thee from all evil,

35—

35And grant unto thee grace, mercy and favour before those who see thee, And may none of the children of men have power over thee to harm thee; Go in peace.

36—

36And if thou seest a land pleasant to thy eyes to dwell in, then arise and take me to thee and take Lot with thee, the son of Haran thy brother, as thine own son: the Lord be with thee.<br>And Nahor thy brother leave with me till thou returnest in peace, and we go with thee all together."
