História de José 12

1Aconteceu, depois destas coisas, que a morte daquele ancião, o piedoso José, e a sua partida deste mundo aproximavam-se, como sucede aos demais homens que devem a sua origem a esta terra. E, estando o seu corpo a ponto de dissolver-se, um anjo do Senhor informou-lhe que a sua morte já estava às portas. Por isso, apoderaram-se dele o temor e uma grande perplexidade. Levantou-se, pois, e foi a Jerusalém; e, entrando no templo do Senhor, derramou ali as suas orações diante do santuário, dizendo:

1It came to pass, after these things, that the death of that old man, the pious Joseph, and his departure from this world, were approaching, as happens to other men who owe their origin to this earth. And as his body was verging on dissolution, an angel of the Lord informed him that his death was now close at hand. Therefore fear and great perplexity came upon him. So he rose up and went to Jerusalem; and going into the temple of the Lord, he poured out his prayers there before the sanctuary, and said:
