José e Asenete 3

1E aconteceu no primeiro ano dos sete anos de fartura, no quarto mês, no vigésimo oitavo dia do mês, que José chegou às fronteiras de Heliópolis recolhendo o milho daquele distrito.

1And it came to pass in the first year of the seven years of plenty, in the fourth month, on the twenty-eighth of the month, that Joseph came to the borders of Heliopolis collecting the corn of that district.

2E, quando José se aproximou daquela cidade, enviou doze homens adiante dele a Pentefres, sacerdote de Heliópolis, dizendo: “Hoje irei ter contigo, porque é hora do meio-dia e da refeição do meio-dia, e há muito calor do sol, e para que eu possa me refrescar sob o telhado de tua casa”.

2And, when Joseph drew near to that city, he sent twelve men before him to Pentephres, the priest of Heliopolis, saying: "I will come in to thee today, because it is the time of noon and of the midday meal, and there is great heat of the sun, and that I may cool myself under the roof of thine house."

3E Pentephres, quando ouviu essas coisas, regozijou-se com grande alegria e disse: "Bendito seja o Senhor Deus de José, porque meu senhor José me considerou digno."

3And Pentephres, when he heard these things, rejoiced with exceeding great joy, and said: "Blessed be the Lord God of Joseph, because my lord Joseph hath thought me worthy."

4E Pentefres chamou o superintendente de sua casa e disse-lhe: “Apresse-se e prepare minha casa, e prepare um grande jantar, porque José, o poderoso de Deus, vem hoje até nós”.

4And Pentephres called the overseer of his house and said to him: "Haste and make mine house ready, and prepare a great dinner, because Joseph the mighty one of God cometh to us today."

5E, quando Asenath ouviu que seu pai e sua mãe tinham vindo da posse de sua herança, ela se alegrou muito e disse: “Eu irei ver meu pai e minha mãe, porque eles vieram da posse de nossa herança” (pois era época de colheita).

5And, when Asenath heard that her father and mother had come from the possession of their inheritance, she rejoiced greatly and said: "I will go and see my father and mother, because they have come from the possession of our inheritance" (for that it was the harvest-season).

6E Asenath apressou-se em seu quarto onde estavam suas vestes e vestiu uma túnica de linho fino feita de tecido carmesim e entrelaçada com ouro, e cingiu-se com um cinto de ouro e pulseiras em volta de suas mãos; e em volta dos pés ela colocou coturnos de ouro, e em volta do pescoço ela lançou um ornamento de grande valor e pedras preciosas, que foram embelezados por todos os lados, tendo também os nomes dos deuses dos egípcios gravados em todos os lugares, tanto nas pulseiras quanto nas pedras; e ela também colocou uma tiara na cabeça e amarrou um diadema em volta das têmporas e cobriu a cabeça com um manto.

6And Asenath hastened into her chamber where her robes lay and put on a fine linen robe made of crimson stuff and interwoven with gold, and girded herself with a golden girdle, and bracelets round her hands; and about her feet she put golden buskins, and round her neck she cast an ornament of great price and precious stones, which were embellished on all sides, having also the names of the gods of the Egyptians everywhere engraved on them, both on the bracelets and the stones; and she put also a tiara on her head and bound a diadem round her temples and covered her head with a mantle.
