José e Asenete 25

1Então o filho do Faraó levantou-se naquela mesma noite e foi ao quarto de seu pai para matá-lo à espada. Os guardas de seu pai então o impediram de ir até seu pai e lhe disseram: "O que você ordena, senhor?"

1Then Pharaoh's son rose up the same night and came to his father's bed-chamber to slay him with the sword. His father's guards thereupon hindered him from coming in to his father and said to him: "What commandest thou, lord?"

2E o filho do Faraó disse-lhes: “Desejo ver meu pai, para isso vou colher a colheita da minha vinha recém-plantada”. E os guardas lhe disseram: “Teu pai sofre dores e ficou acordado a noite toda e agora descansa, e ele nos disse que ninguém deveria entrar nele 'nem mesmo que seja meu filho primogênito'”.

2And Pharaoh's son said to them: "I wish to see my father, for that I am going to gather the vintage of my new-planted vineyard." And the guards said to him: "Thy father suffereth pain and lay awake the whole night and now resteth, and he said to us that no one was to come in to him 'not even if it is my firstborn son.'"

3E ele, ao ouvir essas coisas, foi embora furioso e imediatamente tomou arqueiros montados em número de cinqüenta e foi adiante deles como Dã e Gade lhe haviam dito.

3And he on hearing these things went away in wrath and straightway took mounted bowmen fifty in number and went away before them as Dan and Gad had said to him.

4E os irmãos mais novos, Neftalim e Aser, falaram a seus irmãos mais velhos, Dã e Gade, dizendo: "Por que vós, de vossa parte, novamente praticais a maldade contra vosso pai Israel e contra vosso irmão José? E Deus o preserva como a menina dos olhos. Eis que não vendestes José uma vez? e ele é hoje rei de toda a terra do Egito e doador de alimentos. Agora, portanto, se novamente desejardes praticar a maldade contra ele, ele clamará ao Altíssimo, e ele clamará ao Altíssimo, e ele enviará fogo do céu e ele te devorará, e os anjos de Deus lutarão contra você”.

4And the younger brethren Nephthalim and Asher spake to their elder brethren Dan and Gad, saying: "Wherefore do ye on your part again work wickedness against your father Israel and against your brother Joseph? And God preserveth him as the apple of an eye. Lo! did ye not once sell Joseph? and he is king to-day of all the land of Egypt and food-giver. Now therefore, if ye again wish to work wickedness against him, he will cry unto the Most High, and he will send fire from heaven and it will devour you, and the angels of God will fight against you."

5Então os irmãos mais velhos ficaram furiosos contra eles e disseram: "E morreremos como mulheres? Longe disso." E eles saíram ao encontro de José e Asenath.

5Then the elder brethren were moved to anger against them and said: "And shall we die as women? Far be it." And they went out to meet Joseph and Asenath.
