José e Asenete 21

1E José ficou naquele dia com Pentefres, e não foi a Asenath, por isso costumava dizer: “Não é adequado para um homem que adora a Deus dormir com sua esposa antes de se casar”.

1And Joseph stayed that day with Pentephres, and he went not in to Asenath, for that he was wont to say: "It is not meet for a man who worshippeth God to sleep with his wife before his marriage."

2E José levantou-se cedo e partiu para Faraó e disse-lhe: "Dê-me Asenath, filha de Pentephres, sacerdote de Heliópolis, como esposa." E Faraó regozijou-se com grande alegria e disse a José: “Eis que esta não te está desposada como esposa desde a eternidade?

2And Joseph rose early and departed to Pharaoh and said to him: "Give me Asenath, daughter of Pentephres, priest of Heliopolis, to wife." And Pharaoh rejoiced with great joy, and he saith to Joseph: "Lo! hath not this one been betrothed unto thee to wife from eternity? Accordingly let her be thy wife henceforth and unto time eternal."

3Então Faraó enviou e chamou Pentephres, e Pentephres trouxe Asenath e a apresentou ao Faraó; e o Faraó ao vê-la maravilhou-se com sua beleza e disse: “O Senhor Deus de José te abençoará, filho, e esta tua beleza permanecerá para a eternidade, pois o Senhor Deus de José te escolheu como noiva para ele: pois José é como o filho do Altíssimo, e tu serás chamada sua noiva desde agora e para sempre.

3Then Pharaoh sent and called Pentephres, and Pentephres brought Asenath and set her before Pharaoh; and Pharaoh when he saw her marvelled at her beauty and said: "The Lord God of Joseph shall bless thee, child, and this thy beauty shall remain to eternity, for that the Lord God of Joseph chose thee as bride for him: for Joseph is as the son of the Most High, and thou shalt be called his bride henceforth and for ever."

4E depois destas coisas Faraó tomou José e Asenath e colocou coroas de ouro sobre suas cabeças, que estavam em sua casa desde os tempos antigos e antigos, e Faraó colocou Asenath à direita de José.

4And after these things Pharaoh took Joseph and Asenath and set golden wreaths upon their heads, which were in his house from of old and from ancient times, and Pharaoh set Asenath at Joseph's right hand.

5E Faraó colocou as mãos sobre suas cabeças e disse: “O Senhor Deus Altíssimo vos abençoará e vos multiplicará, engrandecerá e glorificará até o tempo eterno”. Então Faraó virou-os um para o outro e colocou-os boca a boca, e eles se beijaram.

5And Pharaoh put his hands upon their heads and said: "The Lord God Most High shall bless you and shall multiply and magnify and glorify you unto time eternal." Then Pharaoh turned them round to face one another and brought them mouth to mouth, and they kissed one another.

6E Faraó fez um casamento para José e um grande jantar e muita bebida durante sete dias, e ele convocou todos os governantes do Egito e todos os reis das nações, tendo feito proclamação na terra do Egito, dizendo: “Todo homem que trabalhar durante os sete dias do casamento de José e Asenath certamente morrerá.”

6And Pharaoh made a wedding for Joseph and a great dinner and much drinking during seven days, and he called together all the rulers of Egypt and all the kings of the nations, having made proclamation in the land of Egypt, saying: "Every man who shall do work during the seven days of the wedding of Joseph and Asenath shall surely die."

7E, enquanto o casamento estava acontecendo, e quando o jantar terminou, José entrou em Asenath, e Asenath concebeu de José e deu à luz Manassés e Efraim, seu irmão, na casa de José.

7And, while the wedding was going on, and when the dinner was ended, Joseph went in to Asenath, and Asenath conceived by Joseph and bare Manasses and Ephraim his brother in Joseph's house.
