1Judas Iscariotes era sobrinho de Caifás, não era discípulo sincero de Jesus.

2Havia sido instigado pelos judeus para seguir Jesus com o objetivo de apanhá-Lo em alguma mentira.

2He had been instigated by the Jews to follow Jesus with the objective of catching Him in some lie.

3Davam-lhe um dracma de ouro por dia. Estava há dois anos na companhia de Jesus.

3They gave him a gold drachma per day. He had been in the company of Jesus for two years.

4Três dias antes da prisão, Judas disse aos judeus: 'Eu me comprometo a fazer a acusação.'

4Three days before the arrest, Judas said to the Jews: 'I commit myself to making the accusation.'

5Nicodemus, encarregado das chaves do santuário, disse: 'Não façam tal coisa.'

6Mas a filha de Caifás, chamada Sara, disse: 'Ele falou: sou capaz de destruir este templo em três dias.'

7Uma vez realizado consenso, Jesus foi detido.
