Jonas 2

1E orou Jonas ao SENHOR, seu Deus, das entranhas do peixe.

1Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

2E disse: Na minha angústia clamei ao Senhor, e ele me respondeu; do ventre do inferno gritei, e tu ouviste a minha voz.

2And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, {and} thou heardest my voice. {by...: or, out of mine affliction} {hell: or, the grave}

3Porque tu me lançaste no profundo, no coração dos mares, e a corrente das águas me cercou; todas as tuas ondas e as tuas vagas têm passado por cima de mim.

3For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. {midst: Heb. heart}

4E eu disse: Lançado estou de diante dos teus olhos; todavia tornarei a ver o teu santo templo.

4Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

5As águas me cercaram até à alma, o abismo me rodeou, e as algas se enrolaram na minha cabeça.

5The waters compassed me about, {even} to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

6Eu desci até aos fundamentos dos montes; a terra me encerrou para sempre com os seus ferrolhos; mas tu fizeste subir a minha vida da perdição, ó Senhor meu Deus.

6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars {was} about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. {bottoms: Heb. cuttings off} {corruption: or, the pit}

7Quando desfalecia em mim a minha alma, lembrei-me do Senhor; e entrou a ti a minha oração, no teu santo templo.

7When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

8Os que observam as falsas vaidades deixam a sua misericórdia.

8They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

9Mas eu te oferecerei sacrifício com a voz do agradecimento; o que votei pagarei. Do Senhor vem a salvação.

9But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay {that} that I have vowed. Salvation {is} of the LORD.

10Falou, pois, o Senhor ao peixe, e este vomitou a Jonas na terra seca.

10And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry {land}.
