Joel 1

1Palavra do SENHOR, que foi dirigida a Joel, filho de Petuel.

1The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.

2Ouvi isto, vós anciãos, e escutai, todos os moradores da terra: Porventura isto aconteceu em vossos dias, ou nos dias de vossos pais?

2Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?

3Fazei sobre isto uma narração a vossos filhos, e vossos filhos a seus filhos, e os filhos destes à outra geração.

3Tell ye your children of it, and {let} your children {tell} their children, and their children another generation.

4O que ficou da lagarta, o gafanhoto o comeu, e o que ficou do gafanhoto, a locusta o comeu, e o que ficou da locusta, o pulgão o comeu.

4That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten. {That which the palmerworm...: Heb. The residue of the palmerworm}

5Despertai-vos, bêbados, e chorai; gemei, todos os que bebeis vinho, por causa do mosto, porque tirado é da vossa boca.

5Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

6Porque subiu contra a minha terra uma nação poderosa e sem número; os seus dentes são dentes de leão, e têm queixadas de um leão velho.

6For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth {are} the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.

7Fez da minha vide uma assolação, e tirou a casca da minha figueira; despiu-a toda, e a lançou por terra; os seus sarmentos se embranqueceram.

7He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast {it} away; the branches thereof are made white. {barked...: Heb. laid my fig tree for a barking}

8Lamenta como a virgem que está cingida de saco, pelo marido da sua mocidade.

8Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

9Foi cortada a oferta de alimentos e a libação da casa do Senhor; os sacerdotes, ministros do Senhor, estão entristecidos.

9The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD'S ministers, mourn.

10O campo está assolado, e a terra triste; porque o trigo está destruído, o mosto se secou, o azeite acabou.

10The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.

11Envergonhai-vos, lavradores, gemei, vinhateiros, sobre o trigo e a cevada; porque a colheita do campo pereceu.

11Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.

12A vide se secou, a figueira se murchou, a romeira também, e a palmeira e a macieira; todas as árvores do campo se secaram, e já não há alegria entre os filhos dos homens.

12The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, {even} all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

13Cingi-vos e lamentai-vos, sacerdotes; gemei, ministros do altar; entrai e passai a noite vestidos de saco, ministros do meu Deus; porque a oferta de alimentos, e a libação, foram cortadas da casa de vosso Deus.

13Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.

14Santificai um jejum, convocai uma assembléia solene, congregai os anciãos, e todos os moradores desta terra, na casa do Senhor vosso Deus, e clamai ao Senhor.

14Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders {and} all the inhabitants of the land {into} the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD, {solemn...: or, day of restraint}

15Ai do dia! Porque o dia do Senhor está perto, e virá como uma assolação do Todo-Poderoso.

15Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD {is} at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

16Porventura o mantimento não está cortado de diante de nossos olhos, a alegria e o regozijo da casa de nosso Deus?

16Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, {yea}, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

17As sementes apodreceram debaixo dos seus torrões, os celeiros foram assolados, os armazéns derrubados, porque se secou o trigo.

17The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. {seed: Heb. grains}

18Como geme o animal! As manadas de gados estão confusas, porque não têm pasto; também os rebanhos de ovelhas estão perecendo.

18How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

19A ti, ó Senhor, clamo, porque o fogo consumiu os pastos do deserto, e a chama abrasou todas as árvores do campo.

19O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. {pastures: or, habitations}

20Também todos os animais do campo bramam a ti; porque as correntes de água se secaram, e o fogo consumiu os pastos do deserto.

20The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
