João 6

1Depois disto partiu Jesus para o outro lado do mar da Galiléia, que é o de Tiberíades.

1After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is {the sea} of Tiberias.

2E grande multidão o seguia, porque via os sinais que operava sobre os enfermos.

2And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

3E Jesus subiu ao monte, e assentou-se ali com os seus discípulos.

3And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

4E a páscoa, a festa dos judeus, estava próxima.

4And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5Então Jesus, levantando os olhos, e vendo que uma grande multidão vinha ter com ele, disse a Filipe: Onde compraremos pão, para estes comerem?

5When Jesus then lifted up {his} eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6Mas dizia isto para o experimentar; porque ele bem sabia o que havia de fazer.

6And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7Filipe respondeu-lhe: Duzentos dinheiros de pão não lhes bastarão, para que cada um deles tome um pouco.

7Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8E um dos seus discípulos, André, irmão de Simão Pedro, disse-lhe:

8One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

9Está aqui um rapaz que tem cinco pães de cevada e dois peixinhos; mas que é isto para tantos?

9There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10E disse Jesus: Mandai assentar os homens. E havia muita relva naquele lugar. Assentaram-se, pois, os homens em número de quase cinco mil.

10And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11E Jesus tomou os pães e, havendo dado graças, repartiu-os pelos discípulos, e os discípulos pelos que estavam assentados; e igualmente também dos peixes, quanto eles queriam.

11And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12E, quando estavam saciados, disse aos seus discípulos: Recolhei os pedaços que sobejaram, para que nada se perca.

12When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13Recolheram-nos, pois, e encheram doze alcofas de pedaços dos cinco pães de cevada, que sobejaram aos que haviam comido.

13Therefore they gathered {them} together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14Vendo, pois, aqueles homens o milagre que Jesus tinha feito, diziam: Este é verdadeiramente o profeta que devia vir ao mundo.

14Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

15Sabendo, pois, Jesus que haviam de vir arrebatá-lo, para o fazerem rei, tornou a retirar-se, ele só, para o monte.

15When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

16E, quando veio a tarde, os seus discípulos desceram para o mar.

16And when even was {now} come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

17E, entrando no barco, atravessaram o mar em direção a Cafarnaum; e era já escuro, e ainda Jesus não tinha chegado ao pé deles.

17And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

18E o mar se levantou, porque um grande vento assoprava.

18And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

19E, tendo navegado uns vinte e cinco ou trinta estádios, viram a Jesus, andando sobre o mar e aproximando-se do barco; e temeram.

19So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

20Mas ele lhes disse: Sou eu, não temais.

20But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

21Então eles de boa mente o receberam no barco; e logo o barco chegou à terra para onde iam.

21Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

22No dia seguinte, a multidão que estava do outro lado do mar, vendo que não havia ali mais do que um barquinho, a não ser aquele no qual os discípulos haviam entrado, e que Jesus não entrara com os seus discípulos naquele barquinho, mas que os seus discípulos tinham ido sozinhos

22The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but {that} his disciples were gone away alone;

23(Contudo, outros barquinhos tinham chegado de Tiberíades, perto do lugar onde comeram o pão, havendo o Senhor dado graças).

23(Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)

24Vendo, pois, a multidão que Jesus não estava ali nem os seus discípulos, entraram eles também nos barcos, e foram a Cafarnaum, em busca de Jesus.

24When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25E, achando-o no outro lado do mar, disseram-lhe: Rabi, quando chegaste aqui?

25And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

26Jesus respondeu-lhes e disse: Na verdade, na verdade vos digo que me buscais, não pelos sinais que vistes, mas porque comestes do pão e vos saciastes.

26Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27Trabalhai, não pela comida que perece, mas pela comida que permanece para a vida eterna, a qual o Filho do homem vos dará; porque a este o Pai, Deus, o selou.

27Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. {Labour not: or, Work not}

28Disseram-lhe, pois: Que faremos para executarmos as obras de Deus?

28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhes: A obra de Deus é esta: Que creiais naquele que ele enviou.

29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

30Disseram-lhe, pois: Que sinal, pois, fazes tu, para que o vejamos, e creiamos em ti? Que operas tu?

30They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

31Nossos pais comeram o maná no deserto, como está escrito: Deu-lhes a comer o pão do céu.

31Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

32Disse-lhes, pois, Jesus: Na verdade, na verdade vos digo: Moisés não vos deu o pão do céu; mas meu Pai vos dá o verdadeiro pão do céu.

32Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

33Porque o pão de Deus é aquele que desce do céu e dá vida ao mundo.

33For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

34Disseram-lhe, pois: Senhor, dá-nos sempre desse pão.

34Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

35E Jesus lhes disse: Eu sou o pão da vida; aquele que vem a mim não terá fome, e quem crê em mim nunca terá sede.

35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

36Mas já vos disse que também vós me vistes, e contudo não credes.

36But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

37Todo o que o Pai me dá virá a mim; e o que vem a mim de maneira nenhuma o lançarei fora.

37All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38Porque eu desci do céu, não para fazer a minha vontade, mas a vontade daquele que me enviou.

38For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39E a vontade do Pai que me enviou é esta: Que nenhum de todos aqueles que me deu se perca, mas que o ressuscite no último dia.

39And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40Porquanto a vontade daquele que me enviou é esta: Que todo aquele que vê o Filho, e crê nele, tenha a vida eterna; e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.

40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

41Murmuravam, pois, dele os judeus, porque dissera: Eu sou o pão que desceu do céu.

41The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

42E diziam: Não é este Jesus, o filho de José, cujo pai e mãe nós conhecemos? Como, pois, diz ele: Desci do céu?

42And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

43Respondeu, pois, Jesus, e disse-lhes: Não murmureis entre vós.

43Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

44Ninguém pode vir a mim, se o Pai que me enviou o não trouxer; e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.

44No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

45Está escrito nos profetas: E serão todos ensinados por Deus. Portanto, todo aquele que do Pai ouviu e aprendeu vem a mim.

45It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

46Não que alguém visse ao Pai, a não ser aquele que é de Deus; este tem visto ao Pai.

46Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

47Na verdade, na verdade vos digo que aquele que crê em mim tem a vida eterna.

47Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

48Eu sou o pão da vida.

48I am that bread of life.

49Vossos pais comeram o maná no deserto, e morreram.

49Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

50Este é o pão que desce do céu, para que o que dele comer não morra.

50This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51Eu sou o pão vivo que desceu do céu; se alguém comer deste pão, viverá para sempre; e o pão que eu der é a minha carne, que eu darei pela vida do mundo.

51I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

52Disputavam, pois, os judeus entre si, dizendo: Como nos pode dar este a sua carne a comer?

52The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us {his} flesh to eat?

53Jesus, pois, lhes disse: Na verdade, na verdade vos digo que, se não comerdes a carne do Filho do homem, e não beberdes o seu sangue, não tereis vida em vós mesmos.

53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

54Quem come a minha carne e bebe o meu sangue tem a vida eterna, e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.

54Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

55Porque a minha carne verdadeiramente é comida, e o meu sangue verdadeiramente é bebida.

55For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

56Quem come a minha carne e bebe o meu sangue permanece em mim e eu nele.

56He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

57Assim como o Pai, que vive, me enviou, e eu vivo pelo Pai, assim, quem de mim se alimenta, também viverá por mim.

57As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

58Este é o pão que desceu do céu; não é o caso de vossos pais, que comeram o maná e morreram; quem comer este pão viverá para sempre.

58This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

59Ele disse estas coisas na sinagoga, ensinando em Cafarnaum.

59These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

60Muitos, pois, dos seus discípulos, ouvindo isto, disseram: Duro é este discurso; quem o pode ouvir?

60Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard {this}, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

61Sabendo, pois, Jesus em si mesmo que os seus discípulos murmuravam disto, disse-lhes: Isto escandaliza-vos?

61When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? {offend: or, scandalize, or, cause you to stumble}

62Que seria, pois, se vísseis subir o Filho do homem para onde primeiro estava?

62{What} and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

63O espírito é o que vivifica, a carne para nada aproveita; as palavras que eu vos digo são espírito e vida.

63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, {they} are spirit, and {they} are life.

64Mas há alguns de vós que não crêem. Porque bem sabia Jesus, desde o princípio, quem eram os que não criam, e quem era o que o havia de entregar.

64But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

65E dizia: Por isso eu vos disse que ninguém pode vir a mim, se por meu Pai não lhe for concedido.

65And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

66Desde então muitos dos seus discípulos tornaram para trás, e já não andavam com ele.

66From that {time} many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

67Então disse Jesus aos doze: Quereis vós também retirar-vos?

67Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

68Respondeu-lhe, pois, Simão Pedro: Senhor, para quem iremos nós? Tu tens as palavras da vida eterna.

68Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

69E nós temos crido e conhecido que tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivente.

69And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

70Respondeu-lhe Jesus: Não vos escolhi a vós os doze? e um de vós é um diabo.

70Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

71E isto dizia ele de Judas Iscariotes, filho de Simão; porque este o havia de entregar, sendo um dos doze.

71He spake of Judas Iscariot {the son} of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
