João 3

1E havia entre os fariseus um homem, chamado Nicodemos, príncipe dos judeus.

1There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

2Este foi ter de noite com Jesus, e disse-lhe: Rabi, bem sabemos que és Mestre, vindo de Deus; porque ninguém pode fazer estes sinais que tu fazes, se Deus não for com ele.

2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

3Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Na verdade, na verdade te digo que aquele que não nascer de novo, não pode ver o reino de Deus.

3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. {again: or, from above}

4Disse-lhe Nicodemos: Como pode um homem nascer, sendo velho? Pode, porventura, tornar a entrar no ventre de sua mãe, e nascer?

4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5Jesus respondeu: Na verdade, na verdade te digo que aquele que não nascer da água e do Espírito, não pode entrar no reino de Deus.

5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and {of} the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6O que é nascido da carne é carne, e o que é nascido do Espírito é espírito.

6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7Não te maravilhes de te ter dito: Necessário vos é nascer de novo.

7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. {again: or, from above}

8O vento assopra onde quer, e ouves a sua voz, mas não sabes de onde vem, nem para onde vai; assim étodo aquele que é nascido do Espírito.

8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

9Nicodemos respondeu, e disse-lhe: Como pode ser isso?

9Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?

10Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Tu és mestre de Israel, e não sabes isto?

10Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

11Na verdade, na verdade te digo que nós dizemos o que sabemos, e testificamos o que vimos; e não aceitais o nosso testemunho.

11Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.

12Se vos falei de coisas terrestres, e não crestes, como crereis, se vos falar das celestiais?

12If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you {of} heavenly things?

13Ora, ninguém subiu ao céu, senão o que desceu do céu, o Filho do homem, que está no céu.

13And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, {even} the Son of man which is in heaven.

14E, como Moisés levantou a serpente no deserto, assim importa que o Filho do homem seja levantado;

14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15Para que todo aquele que nele crê não pereça, mas tenha a vida eterna.

15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16Porque Deus amou o mundo de tal maneira que deu o seu Filho unigênito, para que todo aquele que nele crê não pereça, mas tenha a vida eterna.

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17Porque Deus enviou o seu Filho ao mundo, não para que condenasse o mundo, mas para que o mundo fosse salvo por ele.

17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18Quem crê nele não é condenado; mas quem não crê já está condenado, porquanto não crê no nome do unigênito Filho de Deus.

18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19E a condenação é esta: Que a luz veio ao mundo, e os homens amaram mais as trevas do que a luz, porque as suas obras eram más.

19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20Porque todo aquele que faz o mal odeia a luz, e não vem para a luz, para que as suas obras não sejam reprovadas.

20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. {reproved: or, discovered}

21Mas quem pratica a verdade vem para a luz, a fim de que as suas obras sejam manifestas, porque são feitas em Deus.

21But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

22Depois disto foi Jesus com os seus discípulos para a terra da Judéia; e estava ali com eles, e batizava.

22After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.

23Ora, João batizava também em Enom, junto a Salim, porque havia ali muitas águas; e vinham ali, e eram batizados.

23And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.

24Porque ainda João não tinha sido lançado na prisão.

24For John was not yet cast into prison.

25Houve então uma questão entre os discípulos de João e os judeus acerca da purificação.

25Then there arose a question between {some} of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.

26E foram ter com João, e disseram-lhe: Rabi, aquele que estava contigo além do Jordão, do qual tu deste testemunho, ei-lo batizando, e todos vão ter com ele.

26And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all {men} come to him.

27João respondeu, e disse: O homem não pode receber coisa alguma, se não lhe for dada do céu.

27John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. {receive: or, take unto himself}

28Vós mesmos me sois testemunhas de que disse: Eu não sou o Cristo, mas sou enviado adiante dele.

28Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

29Aquele que tem a esposa é o esposo; mas o amigo do esposo, que lhe assiste e o ouve, alegra-se muito com a voz do esposo. Assim, pois, já este meu gozo está cumprido.

29He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

30É necessário que ele cresça e que eu diminua.

30He must increase, but I {must} decrease.

31Aquele que vem de cima é sobre todos; aquele que vem da terra é da terra e fala da terra. Aquele que vem do céu é sobre todos.

31He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

32E aquilo que ele viu e ouviu isso testifica; e ninguém aceita o seu testemunho.

32And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.

33Aquele que aceitou o seu testemunho, esse confirmou que Deus é verdadeiro.

33He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

34Porque aquele que Deus enviou fala as palavras de Deus; pois não lhe dá Deus o Espírito por medida.

34For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure {unto him}.

35O Pai ama o Filho, e todas as coisas entregou nas suas mãos.

35The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

36Aquele que crê no Filho tem a vida eterna; mas aquele que não crê no Filho não verá a vida, mas a ira de Deus sobre ele permanece.

36He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
