João 1

1No princípio era o Verbo, e o Verbo estava com Deus, e o Verbo era Deus.

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2Ele estava no princípio com Deus.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3Todas as coisas foram feitas por ele, e sem ele nada do que foi feito se fez.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4Nele estava a vida, e a vida era a luz dos homens.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5E a luz resplandece nas trevas, e as trevas não a compreenderam.

5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. {comprehended: or, did not admit, or, receive}

6Houve um homem enviado de Deus, cujo nome era João.

6There was a man sent from God, whose name {was} John.

7Este veio para testemunho, para que testificasse da luz, para que todos cressem por ele.

7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all {men} through him might believe.

8Não era ele a luz, mas para que testificasse da luz.

8He was not that Light, but {was sent} to bear witness of that Light.

9Ali estava a luz verdadeira, que ilumina a todo o homem que vem ao mundo.

9{That} was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10Estava no mundo, e o mundo foi feito por ele, e o mundo não o conheceu.

10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11Veio para o que era seu, e os seus não o receberam.

11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12Mas, a todos quantos o receberam, deu-lhes o poder de serem feitos filhos de Deus, aos que crêem no seu nome;

12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, {even} to them that believe on his name: {power: or, the right, or, privilege}

13Os quais não nasceram do sangue, nem da vontade da carne, nem da vontade do homem, mas de Deus.

13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14E o Verbo se fez carne, e habitou entre nós, e vimos a sua glória, como a glória do unigênito do Pai, cheio de graça e de verdade.

14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

15João testificou dele, e clamou, dizendo: Este era aquele de quem eu dizia: O que vem após mim é antes de mim, porque foi primeiro do que eu.

15John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

16E todos nós recebemos também da sua plenitude, e graça por graça.

16And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

17Porque a lei foi dada por Moisés; a graça e a verdade vieram por Jesus Cristo.

17For the law was given by Moses, {but} grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

18Deus nunca foi visto por alguém. O Filho unigênito, que está no seio do Pai, esse o revelou.

18No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared {him}.

19E este é o testemunho de João, quando os judeus mandaram de Jerusalém sacerdotes e levitas para que lhe perguntassem: Quem és tu?

19And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

20E confessou, e não negou; confessou: Eu não sou o Cristo.

20And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

21E perguntaram-lhe: Então quê? És tu Elias? E disse: Não sou. És tu profeta? E respondeu: Não.

21And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. {that prophet: or, a prophet?}

22Disseram-lhe pois: Quem és? para que demos resposta àqueles que nos enviaram; que dizes de ti mesmo?

22Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

23Disse: Eu sou a voz do que clama no deserto: Endireitai o caminho do Senhor, como disse o profeta Isaías.

23He said, I {am} the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

24E os que tinham sido enviados eram dos fariseus.

24And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

25E perguntaram-lhe, e disseram-lhe: Por que batizas, pois, se tu não és o Cristo, nem Elias, nem o profeta?

25And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

26João respondeu-lhes, dizendo: Eu batizo com água; mas no meio devós está um a quem vós não conheceis.

26John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

27Este é aquele que vem após mim, que é antes de mim, do qual eu não sou digno de desatar a correia da alparca.

27He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

28Estas coisas aconteceram em Betabara, do outro lado do Jordão, onde João estava batizando.

28These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29No dia seguinte João viu a Jesus, que vinha para ele, e disse: Eis o Cordeiro de Deus, que tira o pecado do mundo.

29The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. {taketh away: or, beareth}

30Este é aquele do qual eu disse: Após mim vem um homem que é antes de mim, porque foi primeiro do que eu.

30This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

31E eu não o conhecia; mas, para que ele fosse manifestado a Israel, vim eu, por isso, batizando com água.

31And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32E João testificou, dizendo: Eu vi o Espírito descer do céu como pomba, e repousar sobre ele.

32And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

33E eu não o conhecia, mas o que me mandou a batizar com água, esse me disse: Sobre aquele que vires descer o Espírito, e sobre ele repousar, esse é o que batiza com o Espírito Santo.

33And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

34E eu vi, e tenho testificado que este é o Filho de Deus.

34And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

35No dia seguinte João estava outra vez ali, e dois dos seus discípulos;

35Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

36E, vendo passar a Jesus, disse: Eis aqui o Cordeiro de Deus.

36And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

37E os dois discípulos ouviram-no dizer isto, e seguiram a Jesus.

37And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

38E Jesus, voltando-se e vendo que eles o seguiam, disse-lhes: Que buscais? E eles disseram: Rabi (que, traduzido, quer dizer Mestre), onde moras?

38Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou? {dwellest: or, abidest}

39Ele lhes disse: Vinde, e vede. Foram, e viram onde morava, e ficaram com ele aquele dia; e era já quase a hora décima.

39He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. {about...: that was two hours before night}

40Era André, irmão de Simão Pedro, um dos dois que ouviram aquilo de João, e o haviam seguido.

40One of the two which heard John {speak}, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

41Este achou primeiro a seu irmão Simão, e disse-lhe: Achamos o Messias (que, traduzido, é o Cristo).

41He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. {the Christ: or, the Anointed}

42E levou-o a Jesus. E, olhando Jesus para ele, disse: Tu és Simão, filho de Jonas; tu serás chamado Cefas (que quer dizer Pedro).

42And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

43No dia seguinte quis Jesus ir à Galiléia, e achou a Filipe, e disse-lhe: Segue-me.

43The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

44E Filipe era de Betsaida, cidade de André e de Pedro.

44Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

45Filipe achou Natanael, e disse-lhe: Havemos achado aquele de quem Moisés escreveu na lei, e os profetas: Jesus de Nazaré, filho de José.

45Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

46Disse-lhe Natanael: Pode vir alguma coisa boa de Nazaré? Disse-lhe Filipe: Vem, e vê.

46And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

47Jesus viu Natanael vir ter com ele, e disse dele: Eis aqui um verdadeiro israelita, em quem não há dolo.

47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

48Disse-lhe Natanael: De onde me conheces tu? Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Antes que Filipe te chamasse, te vi eu, estando tu debaixo da figueira.

48Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

49Natanael respondeu, e disse-lhe: Rabi, tu és o Filho de Deus; tu és o Rei de Israel.

49Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

50Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Porque te disse: Vi-te debaixo da figueira, crês? Coisas maiores do que estas verás.

50Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

51E disse-lhe: Na verdade, na verdade vos digo que daqui em diante vereis o céu aberto, e os anjos de Deus subindo e descendo sobre o Filho do homem.

51And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
