1Chama agora; há alguém que te responda? E para qual dos santos te virarás?

1Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn? {turn: or, look?}

2Porque a ira destrói o louco; e o zelo mata o tolo.

2For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one. {envy: or, indignation}

3Bem vi eu o louco lançar raízes; porém logo amaldiçoei a sua habitação.

3I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

4Seus filhos estão longe da salvação; e são despedaçados às portas, e não há quem os livre.

4His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither {is there} any to deliver {them}.

5A sua messe, o faminto a devora, e até dentre os espinhos a tira; e o salteador traga a sua fazenda.

5Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

6Porque do pó não procede a aflição, nem da terra brota o trabalho.

6Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground; {affliction: or, iniquity}

7Mas o homem nasce para a tribulação, como as faíscas se levantam para voar.

7Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward. {trouble: or, labour} {sparks...: Heb. the sons of the burning coal lift up to fly}

8Porém eu buscaria a Deus; e a ele entregaria a minha causa.

8I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

9Ele faz coisas grandes e inescrutáveis, e maravilhas sem número.

9Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number: {unsearchable: Heb. there is no search} {without...: Heb. till there be no number}

10Ele dá a chuva sobre a terra, e envia águas sobre os campos.

10Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields: {fields: Heb. outplaces}

11Para pôr aos abatidos num lugar alto; e para que os enlutados se exaltem na salvação.

11To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

12Ele aniquila as imaginações dos astutos, para que as suas mãos não possam levar coisa alguma a efeito.

12He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform {their} enterprise. {their enterprise: or, any thing}

13Ele apanha os sábios na sua própria astúcia; e o conselho dos perversos se precipita.

13He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

14Eles de dia encontram as trevas; e ao meio-dia andam às apalpadelas como de noite.

14They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night. {meet...: or, run into}

15Porém ao necessitado livra da espada, e da boca deles, e da mão do forte.

15But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

16Assim há esperança para o pobre; e a iniqüidade tapa a sua boca.

16So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

17Eis que bem-aventurado é o homem a quem Deus repreende; não desprezes, pois, a correção do Todo-Poderoso.

17Behold, happy {is} the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

18Porque ele faz a chaga, e ele mesmo a liga; ele fere, e as suas mãos curam.

18For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

19Em seis angústias te livrará; e na sétima o mal não te tocará.

19He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

20Na fome te livrará da morte; e na guerra, da violência da espada.

20In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword. {power: Heb. hands}

21Do açoite da língua estarás encoberto; e não temerás a assolação, quando vier.

21Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. {from...: or, when the tongue scourgeth}

22Da assolação e da fome te rirás, e os animais da terra não temerás.

22At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

23Porque até com as pedras do campo terás o teu acordo, e as feras do campo serão pacíficas contigo.

23For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

24E saberás que a tua tenda está em paz; e visitarás a tua habitação, e não pecarás.

24And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle {shall be} in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin. {thy tabernacle...: or, peace is thy tabernacle} {sin: or, err}

25Também saberás que se multiplicará a tua descendência e a tua posteridade como a erva da terra,

25Thou shalt know also that thy seed {shall be} great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. {great: or, much}

26Na velhice irás à sepultura, como se recolhe o feixe de trigo a seu tempo.

26Thou shalt come to {thy} grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season. {cometh in: Heb. ascendeth}

27Eis que isto já o havemos inquirido, e assim é; ouve-o, e medita nisso para teu bem.

27Lo this, we have searched it, so it {is}; hear it, and know thou {it} for thy good. {for...: Heb. for thyself}
