Jó 40

1Respondeu mais o SENHOR a Jó, dizendo:

1Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

2Porventura o contender contra o Todo-Poderoso é sabedoria? Quem argüi assim a Deus, responda por isso.

2Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct {him}? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

3Então Jó respondeu ao Senhor, dizendo:

3Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

4Eis que sou vil; que te responderia eu? A minha mão ponho à boca.

4Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

5Uma vez tenho falado, e não replicarei; ou ainda duas vezes, porém não prosseguirei.

5Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

6Então o Senhor respondeu a Jó de um redemoinho, dizendo:

6Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

7Cinge agora os teus lombos como homem; eu te perguntarei, e tu me explicarás.

7Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

8Porventura também tornarás tu vão o meu juízo, ou tu me condenarás, para te justificares?

8Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

9Ou tens braço como Deus, ou podes trovejar com voz como ele o faz?

9Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

10Orna-te, pois, de excelência e alteza; e veste-te de majestade e de glória.

10Deck thyself now {with} majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

11Derrama os furores da tua ira, e atenta para todo o soberbo, e abate-o.

11Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one {that is} proud, and abase him.

12Olha para todo o soberbo, e humilha-o, e atropela os ímpios no seu lugar.

12Look on every one {that is} proud, {and} bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

13Esconde-os juntamente no pó; ata-lhes os rostos em oculto.

13Hide them in the dust together; {and} bind their faces in secret.

14Então também eu a ti confessarei que a tua mão direita te poderá salvar.

14Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

15Contemplas agora o beemote, que eu fiz contigo, que come a erva como o boi.

15Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. {behemoth: probably an extinct animal of some kind}

16Eis que a sua força está nos seus lombos, e o seu poder nos músculos do seu ventre.

16Lo now, his strength {is} in his loins, and his force {is} in the navel of his belly.

17Quando quer, move a sua cauda como cedro; os nervos das suas coxas estão entretecidos.

17He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. {He...: or, He setteth up}

18Os seus ossos são como tubos de bronze; a sua ossada é como barras de ferro.

18His bones {are as} strong pieces of brass; his bones {are} like bars of iron.

19Ele é obra-prima dos caminhos de Deus; o que o fez o proveu da sua espada.

19He {is} the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach {unto him}.

20Em verdade os montes lhe produzem pastos, onde todos os animais do campo folgam.

20Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

21Deita-se debaixo das árvores sombrias, no esconderijo das canas e da lama.

21He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

22As árvores sombrias o cobrem, com sua sombra; os salgueiros do ribeiro o cercam.

22The shady trees cover him {with} their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

23Eis que um rio transborda, e ele não se apressa, confiando ainda que o Jordão se levante até à sua boca.

23Behold, he drinketh up a river, {and} hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. {he drinketh up: Heb. he oppresseth}

24Podê-lo-iam porventura caçar à vista de seus olhos, ou com laços lhe furar o nariz?

24He taketh it with his eyes: {his} nose pierceth through snares. {He...: or, Will any take him in his sight, or, bore his nose with a gin?}
