Jó 34

1Respondeu mais Eliú, dizendo:

1Furthermore Elihu answered and said,

2Ouvi, vós, sábios, as minhas razões; e vós, entendidos, inclinai os ouvidos para mim.

2Hear my words, O ye wise {men}; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.

3Porque o ouvido prova as palavras, como o paladar experimenta a comida.

3For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat. {mouth: Heb. palate}

4O que é direito escolhamos para nós; e conheçamos entre nós o que é bom.

4Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what {is} good.

5Porque Jó disse: Sou justo, e Deus tirou o meu direito.

5For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.

6Apesar do meu direito sou considerado mentiroso; a minha ferida é incurável, embora eu esteja sem transgressão.

6Should I lie against my right? my wound {is} incurable without transgression. {my wound: Heb. mine arrow}

7Que homem há como Jó, que bebe a zombaria como água?

7What man {is} like Job, {who} drinketh up scorning like water?

8E caminha em companhia dos que praticam a iniqüidade, e anda com homens ímpios?

8Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.

9Porque disse: De nada aproveita ao homem o comprazer-se em Deus.

9For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

10Portanto vós, homens de entendimento, escutai-me: Longe de Deus esteja o praticar a maldade e do Todo-Poderoso o cometer a perversidade!

10Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, {that he should do} wickedness; and {from} the Almighty, {that he should commit} iniquity. {men...: Heb. men of heart}

11Porque, segundo a obra do homem, ele lhe paga; e faz a cada um segundo o seu caminho.

11For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to {his} ways.

12Também, na verdade, Deus não procede impiamente; nem o Todo-Poderoso perverte o juízo.

12Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

13Quem lhe entregou o governo da terra? E quem fez todo o mundo?

13Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world? {the whole: Heb. all of it?}

14Se ele pusesse o seu coração contra o homem, e recolhesse para si o seu espírito e o seu fôlego,

14If he set his heart upon man, {if} he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; {man: Heb. him}

15Toda a carne juntamente expiraria, e o homem voltaria para o pó.

15All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

16Se, pois, há em ti entendimento, ouve isto; inclina os ouvidos ao som da minha palavra.

16If now {thou hast} understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

17Porventura o que odiasse o direito se firmaria? E tu condenarias aquele que é justo e poderoso?

17Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just? {govern: Heb. bind?}

18Ou dir-se-á a um rei: Oh! Vil? Ou aos príncipes: Oh! ímpios?

18{Is it fit} to say to a king, {Thou art} wicked? {and} to princes, {Ye are} ungodly?

19Quanto menos àquele, que não faz acepção das pessoas de príncipes, nem estima o rico mais do que o pobre; porque todos são obras de suas mãos.

19{How much less to him} that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all {are} the work of his hands.

20Eles num momento morrem; e até à meia-noite os povos são perturbados, e passam, e os poderosos serão tomados não por mão humana.

20In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand. {the mighty...: Heb. they shall take away the mighty}

21Porque os seus olhos estão sobre os caminhos de cada um, e ele vê todos os seus passos.

21For his eyes {are} upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.

22Não há trevas nem sombra de morte, onde se escondam os que praticam a iniqüidade.

22{There is} no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

23Porque Deus não sobrecarrega o homem mais do que é justo, para o fazer ir a juízo diante dele.

23For he will not lay upon man more {than right}; that he should enter into judgment with God. {enter: Heb. go}

24Quebranta aos fortes, sem que se possa inquirir, e põe outros em seu lugar.

24He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. {number: Heb. searching out}

25Ele conhece, pois, as suas obras; de noite os transtorna, e ficam moídos.

25Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth {them} in the night, so that they are destroyed. {destroyed: Heb. crushed}

26Ele os bate como ímpios que são, à vista dos espectadores;

26He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others; {open...: Heb. place of beholders}

27Porquanto se desviaram dele, e não compreenderam nenhum de seus caminhos,

27Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways: {him: Heb. after him}

28De sorte que o clamor do pobre subisse até ele, e que ouvisse o clamor dos aflitos.

28So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.

29Se ele aquietar, quem então inquietará? Se encobrir o rosto, quem então o poderá contemplar? Seja isto para com um povo, seja para com um homem só,

29When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth {his} face, who then can behold him? whether {it be done} against a nation, or against a man only:

30Para que o homem hipócrita nunca mais reine, e não haja laços no povo.

30That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.

31Na verdade, quem a Deus disse: Suportei castigo, não ofenderei mais.

31Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne {chastisement}, I will not offend {any more}:

32O que não vejo, ensina-me tu; se fiz alguma maldade, nunca mais a hei de fazer?

32{That which} I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

33Virá de ti como há de ser a recompensa, para que tu a rejeites? Faze tu, pois, e não eu, a escolha; fala logo o que sabes.

33{Should it be} according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest. {according...: Heb. from with thee?}

34Os homens de entendimento dirão comigo, e o homem sábio que me ouvir:

34Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me. {of...: Heb. of heart}

35Jó falou sem conhecimento; e às suas palavras falta prudência.

35Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words {were} without wisdom.

36Pai meu! Provado seja Jó até ao fim, pelas suas respostas próprias de homens malignos.

36My desire {is that} Job may be tried unto the end because of {his} answers for wicked men. {My...: or, My father, let Job be tried}

37Porque ao seu pecado acrescenta a transgressão; entre nós bate palmas, e multiplica contra Deus as suas palavras.

37For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth {his hands} among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
