Jó 26

1Jó, porém, respondeu, dizendo:

1But Job answered and said,

2Como ajudaste aquele que não tinha força, e sustentaste o braço que não tinha vigor?

2How hast thou helped {him that is} without power? {how} savest thou the arm {that hath} no strength?

3Como aconselhaste aquele que não tinha sabedoria, e plenamente fizeste saber a causa, assim como era?

3How hast thou counselled {him that hath} no wisdom? and {how} hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?

4A quem proferiste palavras, e de quem é o espírito que saiu de ti?

4To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

5Os mortos tremem debaixo das águas, com os seus moradores.

5Dead {things} are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof. {and the...: or, with the inhabitants}

6O inferno está nu perante ele, e não há coberta para a perdição.

6Hell {is} naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

7O norte estende sobre o vazio; e suspende a terra sobre o nada.

7He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, {and} hangeth the earth upon nothing.

8Prende as águas nas suas nuvens, todavia a nuvem não se rasga debaixo delas.

8He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

9Encobre a face do seu trono, e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.

9He holdeth back the face of his throne, {and} spreadeth his cloud upon it.

10Marcou um limite sobre a superfície das águas em redor, até aos confins da luz e das trevas.

10He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end. {until...: Heb. until the end of light with darkness}

11As colunas do céu tremem, e se espantam da sua ameaça.

11The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

12Com a sua força fende o mar, e com o seu entendimento abate a soberba.

12He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud. {the proud: Heb. pride}

13Pelo seu Espírito ornou os céus; a sua mão formou a serpente enroscadiça.

13By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

14Eis que isto são apenas as orlas dos seus caminhos; e quão pouco é o que temos ouvido dele! Quem, pois, entenderia o trovão do seu poder?

14Lo, these {are} parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?
