Jó 21

1Respondeu, porém, Jó, dizendo:

1But Job answered and said,

2Ouvi atentamente as minhas razões; e isto vos sirva de consolação.

2Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.

3Sofrei-me, e eu falarei; e havendo eu falado, zombai.

3Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

4Porventura eu me queixo de algum homem? Porém, ainda que assim fosse, por que não se angustiaria o meu espírito?

4As for me, {is} my complaint to man? and if {it were so}, why should not my spirit be troubled? {troubled: Heb. shortened?}

5Olhai para mim, e pasmai; e ponde a mão sobre a boca.

5Mark me, and be astonished, and lay {your} hand upon {your} mouth. {Mark...: Heb. Look unto me}

6Porque, quando me lembro disto me perturbo, e a minha carne é sobressaltada de horror.

6Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.

7Por que razão vivem os ímpios, envelhecem, e ainda se robustecem em poder?

7Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?

8A sua descendência se estabelece com eles perante a sua face; e os seus renovos perante os seus olhos.

8Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.

9As suas casas têm paz, sem temor; e a vara de Deus não está sobre eles.

9Their houses {are} safe from fear, neither {is} the rod of God upon them. {safe...: Heb. peace from}

10O seu touro gera, e não falha; pare a sua vaca, e não aborta.

10Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

11Fazem sair as suas crianças, como a um rebanho, e seus filhos andam saltando.

11They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

12Levantam a voz, ao som do tamboril e da harpa, e alegram-se ao som do órgão.

12They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13Na prosperidade gastam os seus dias, e num momento descem à sepultura.

13They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. {in wealth: or, in mirth}

14E, todavia, dizem a Deus: Retira-te de nós; porque não desejamos ter conhecimento dos teus caminhos.

14Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

15Quem é o Todo-Poderoso, para que nós o sirvamos? E que nos aproveitará que lhe façamos orações?

15What {is} the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

16Vede, porém, que a prosperidade não está nas mãos deles; esteja longe de mim o conselho dos ímpios!

16Lo, their good {is} not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

17Quantas vezes sucede que se apaga a lâmpada dos ímpios, e lhes sobrevém a sua destruição? E Deus na sua ira lhes reparte dores!

17How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and {how oft} cometh their destruction upon them! {God} distributeth sorrows in his anger. {candle: or, lamp}

18Porque são como a palha diante do vento, e como a pragana, que arrebata o redemoinho.

18They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away. {carrieth: Heb. stealeth}

19Deus guarda a sua violência para seus filhos, e dá-lhe o pago, para que o conheça.

19God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know {it}. {his iniquity: that is, the punishment of his iniquity}

20Seus olhos verão a sua ruína, e ele beberá do furor do Todo-Poderoso.

20His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21Por que, que prazer teria na sua casa, depois de morto, cortando-se-lhe o número dos seus meses?

21For what pleasure {hath} he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?

22Porventura a Deus se ensinaria ciência, a ele que julga os excelsos?

22Shall {any} teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.

23Um morre na força da sua plenitude, estando inteiramente sossegado e tranqüilo.

23One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet. {his...: Heb. his very, or, the strength of, his perfection}

24Com seus baldes cheios de leite, e a medula dos seus ossos umedecida.

24His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow. {breasts: or, milk pails}

25E outro, ao contrário, morre na amargura do seu coração, não havendo provado do bem.

25And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.

26Juntamente jazem no pó, e os vermes os cobrem.

26They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

27Eis que conheço bem os vossos pensamentos; e os maus intentos com que injustamente me fazeis violência.

27Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices {which} ye wrongfully imagine against me.

28Porque direis: Onde está a casa do príncipe, e onde a tenda em que moravam os ímpios?

28For ye say, Where {is} the house of the prince? and where {are} the dwelling places of the wicked? {the dwelling...: Heb. the tent of the tabernacles}

29Porventura não perguntastes aos que passam pelo caminho, e não conheceis os seus sinais,

29Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,

30Que o mau é preservado para o dia da destruição; e arrebatado no dia do furor?

30That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath. {wrath: Heb. wraths}

31Quem acusará diante dele o seu caminho, e quem lhe dará o pago do que faz?

31Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him {what} he hath done?

32Finalmente é levado à sepultura, e vigiam-lhe o túmulo.

32Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb. {grave: Heb. graves} {remain...: Heb. watch in the heap}

33Os torrões do vale lhe são doces, e o seguirão todos os homens; e adiante dele foram inumeráveis.

33The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as {there are} innumerable before him.

34Como, pois, me consolais com vaidade? Pois nas vossas respostas ainda resta a transgressão.

34How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood? {falsehood: Heb. transgression?}
