Jó 20

1Então respondeu Zofar, o naamatita, e disse:

1Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

2Visto que os meus pensamentos me fazem responder, eu me apresso.

2Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for {this} I make haste. {I make...: Heb. my haste is in me}

3Eu ouvi a repreensão, que me envergonha, mas o espírito do meu entendimento responderá por mim.

3I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.

4Porventura não sabes tu que desde a antiguidade, desde que o homem foi posto sobre a terra,

4Knowest thou {not} this of old, since man was placed upon earth,

5O júbilo dos ímpios é breve, e a alegria dos hipócritas momentânea?

5That the triumphing of the wicked {is} short, and the joy of the hypocrite {but} for a moment? {short: Heb. from near}

6Ainda que a sua altivez suba até ao céu, e a sua cabeça chegue até às nuvens.

6Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds; {clouds: Heb. cloud}

7Contudo, como o seu próprio esterco, perecerá para sempre; e os que o viam dirão: Onde está?

7{Yet} he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where {is} he?

8Como um sonho voará, e não será achado, e será afugentado como uma visão da noite.

8He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

9O olho, que já o viu, jamais o verá, nem o seu lugar o verá mais.

9The eye also {which} saw him shall {see him} no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.

10Os seus filhos procurarão agradar aos pobres, e as suas mãos restituirão os seus bens.

10His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods. {His children...: or, The poor shall oppress his children}

11Os seus ossos estão cheios do vigor da sua mocidade, mas este se deitará com ele no pó.

11His bones are full {of the sin} of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.

12Ainda que o mal lhe seja doce na boca, e ele o esconda debaixo da sua língua,

12Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, {though} he hide it under his tongue;

13E o guarde, e não o deixe, antes o retenha no seu paladar,

13{Though} he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth: {within...: Heb. in the midst of his palate}

14Contudo a sua comida se mudará nas suas entranhas; fel de áspides será interiormente.

14{Yet} his meat in his bowels is turned, {it is} the gall of asps within him.

15Engoliu riquezas, porém vomitá-las-á; do seu ventre Deus as lançará.

15He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.

16Veneno de áspides sorverá; língua de víbora o matará.

16He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.

17Não verá as correntes, os rios e os ribeiros de mel e manteiga.

17He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter. {the floods...: or, streaming brooks}

18Restituirá o seu trabalho, e não o engolirá; conforme ao poder de sua mudança, e não saltará de gozo.

18That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow {it} down: according to {his} substance {shall} the restitution {be}, and he shall not rejoice {therein}. {his...: Heb. the substance of his exchange}

19Porquanto oprimiu e desamparou os pobres, e roubou a casa que não edificou.

19Because he hath oppressed {and} hath forsaken the poor; {because} he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not; {oppressed: Heb. crushed}

20Porquanto não sentiu sossego no seu ventre; nada salvará das coisas por ele desejadas.

20Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired. {feel: Heb. know}

21Nada lhe sobejará do que coma; por isso as suas riquezas não durarão.

21There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods. {none...: or, be none left for his meat}

22Sendo plena a sua abastança, estará angustiado; toda a força da miséria virá sobre ele.

22In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him. {wicked: or, troublesome}

23Mesmo estando ele a encher a sua barriga, Deus mandará sobre ele o ardor da sua ira, e a fará chover sobre ele quando for comer.

23{When} he is about to fill his belly, {God} shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain {it} upon him while he is eating.

24Ainda que fuja das armas de ferro, o arco de bronze o atravessará.

24He shall flee from the iron weapon, {and} the bow of steel shall strike him through.

25Desembainhará a espada que sairá do seu corpo, e resplandecendo virá do seu fel; e haverá sobre ele assombros.

25It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors {are} upon him.

26Toda a escuridão se ocultará nos seus esconderijos; um fogo não assoprado o consumirá, irá mal com o que ficar na sua tenda.

26All darkness {shall be} hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.

27Os céus manifestarão a sua iniqüidade; e a terra se levantará contra ele.

27The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.

28As riquezas de sua casa serão transportadas; no dia da sua ira todas se derramarão.

28The increase of his house shall depart, {and his goods} shall flow away in the day of his wrath.

29Esta, da parte de Deus, é a porção do homem ímpio; esta é a herança que Deus lhe decretou.

29This {is} the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God. {appointed...: Heb. of his decree from God}
