Jó 19

1Respondeu, porém, Jó, dizendo:

1Then Job answered and said,

2Até quando afligireis a minha alma, e me quebrantareis com palavras?

2How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?

3Já dez vezes me vituperastes; não tendes vergonha de injuriar-me.

3These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed {that} ye make yourselves strange to me. {make...: or, harden yourselves against me}

4Embora haja eu, na verdade, errado, comigo ficará o meu erro.

4And be it indeed {that} I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.

5Se deveras vos quereis engrandecer contra mim, e argüir-me pelo meu opróbrio,

5If indeed ye will magnify {yourselves} against me, and plead against me my reproach:

6Sabei agora que Deus é o que me transtornou, e com a sua rede me cercou.

6Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.

7Eis que clamo: Violência! Porém não sou ouvido. Grito: Socorro! Porém não há justiça.

7Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but {there is} no judgment. {wrong: or, violence}

8O meu caminho ele entrincheirou, e já não posso passar, e nas minhas veredas pôs trevas.

8He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.

9Da minha honra me despojou; e tirou-me a coroa da minha cabeça.

9He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown {from} my head.

10Quebrou-me de todos os lados, e eu me vou; e arrancou a minha esperança, como a uma árvore.

10He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

11E fez inflamar contra mim a sua ira, e me reputou para consigo, como a seus inimigos.

11He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as {one of} his enemies.

12Juntas vieram as suas tropas, e prepararam contra mim o seu caminho, e se acamparam ao redor da minha tenda.

12His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.

13pôs longe de mim a meus irmãos, e os que me conhecem, como estranhos se apartaram de mim.

13He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.

14Os meus parentes me deixaram, e os meus conhecidos se esqueceram de mim.

14My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.

15Os meus domésticos e as minhas servas me reputaram como um estranho, e vim a ser um estrangeiro aos seus olhos.

15They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

16Chamei a meu criado, e ele não me respondeu; cheguei a suplicar-lhe com a minha própria boca.

16I called my servant, and he gave {me} no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.

17O meu hálito se fez estranho à minha mulher; tanto que supliquei o interesse dos filhos do meu corpo.

17My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's {sake} of mine own body. {mine...: Heb. my belly}

18Até os pequeninos me desprezam, e, levantando-me eu, falam contra mim.

18Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me. {young...: or, the wicked}

19Todos os homens da minha confidência me abominam, e até os que eu amava se tornaram contra mim.

19All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me. {my...: Heb. the men of my secret}

20Os meus ossos se apegaram à minha pele e à minha carne, e escapei só com a pele dos meus dentes.

20My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth. {and to: or, as to}

21Compadecei-vos de mim, amigos meus, compadecei-vos de mim, porque a mão de Deus me tocou.

21Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

22Por que me perseguis assim como Deus, e da minha carne não vos fartais?

22Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

23Quem me dera agora, que as minhas palavras fossem escritas! Quem me dera, fossem gravadas num livro!

23Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book! {Oh...: Heb. Who will give, etc}

24E que, com pena de ferro, e com chumbo, para sempre fossem esculpidas na rocha.

24That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!

25Porque eu sei que o meu Redentor vive, e que por fim se levantará sobre a terra.

25For I know {that} my redeemer liveth, and {that} he shall stand at the latter {day} upon the earth:

26E depois de consumida a minha pele, contudo ainda em minha carne verei a Deus,

26And {though} after my skin {worms} destroy this {body}, yet in my flesh shall I see God: {And...: or, After I shall awake, though this body be destroyed, yet out of my flesh}

27Vê-lo-ei, por mim mesmo, e os meus olhos, e não outros o contemplarão; e por isso os meus rins se consomem no meu interior.

27Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; {though} my reins be consumed within me. {another: Heb. a stranger} {though...: or, my reins within me are consumed with earnest desire (for that day} {within...: Heb. in my bosom}

28Na verdade, que devíeis dizer: Por que o perseguimos? Pois a raiz da acusação se acha em mim.

28But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me? {seeing...: or, and what root of matter is found in me?}

29Temei vós mesmos a espada; porque o furor traz os castigos da espada, para saberdes que há um juízo.

29Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath {bringeth} the punishments of the sword, that ye may know {there is} a judgment.
