Jó 13

1Eis que tudo isto viram os meus olhos, e os meus ouvidos o ouviram e entenderam.

1Lo, mine eye hath seen all {this}, mine ear hath heard and understood it.

2Como vós o sabeis, também eu o sei; não vos sou inferior.

2What ye know, {the same} do I know also: I {am} not inferior unto you.

3Mas eu falarei ao Todo-Poderoso, e quero defender-me perante Deus.

3Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

4Vós, porém, sois inventores de mentiras, e vós todos médicos que não valem nada.

4But ye {are} forgers of lies, ye {are} all physicians of no value.

5Quem dera que vos calásseis de todo, pois isso seria a vossa sabedoria.

5O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

6Ouvi agora a minha defesa, e escutai os argumentos dos meus lábios.

6Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.

7Porventura por Deus falareis perversidade e por ele falareis mentiras?

7Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?

8Fareis acepção da sua pessoa? Contendereis por Deus?

8Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?

9Ser-vos-ia bom, se ele vos esquadrinhasse? Ou zombareis dele, como se zomba de algum homem?

9Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye {so} mock him?

10Certamente vos repreenderá, se em oculto fizerdes acepção de pessoas.

10He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.

11Porventura não vos espantará a sua alteza, e não cairá sobre vós o seu terror?

11Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?

12As vossas memórias são como provérbios de cinza; as vossas defesas como defesas de lodo.

12Your remembrances {are} like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.

13Calai-vos perante mim, e falarei eu, e venha sobre mim o que vier.

13Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what {will}. {Hold...: Heb. Be silent from me}

14Por que razão tomarei eu a minha carne com os meus dentes, e porei a minha vida na minha mão?

14Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?

15Ainda que ele me mate, nele esperarei; contudo os meus caminhos defenderei diante dele.

15Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. {maintain: Heb. prove, or, argue}

16Também ele será a minha salvação; porém o hipócrita não virá perante ele.

16He also {shall be} my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

17Ouvi com atenção as minhas palavras, e com os vossos ouvidos a minha declaração.

17Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.

18Eis que já tenho ordenado a minha causa, e sei que serei achado justo.

18Behold now, I have ordered {my} cause; I know that I shall be justified.

19Quem é o que contenderá comigo? Se eu agora me calasse, renderia o espírito.

19Who {is} he {that} will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.

20Duas coisas somente não faças para comigo; então não me esconderei do teu rosto:

20Only do not two {things} unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.

21Desvia a tua mão para longe, de mim, e não me espante o teu terror.

21Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.

22Chama, pois, e eu responderei; ou eu falarei, e tu me responderás.

22Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.

23Quantas culpas e pecados tenho eu? Notifica-me a minha transgressão e o meu pecado.

23How many {are} mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.

24Por que escondes o teu rosto, e me tens por teu inimigo?

24Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?

25Porventura acossarás uma folha arrebatada pelo vento? E perseguirás o restolho seco?

25Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?

26Por que escreves contra mim coisas amargas e me fazes herdar as culpas da minha mocidade?

26For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

27Também pões os meus pés no tronco, e observas todos os meus caminhos, e marcas os sinais dos meus pés.

27Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet. {lookest...: Heb. observest} {heels: Heb. roots}

28E ele me consome como a podridão, e como a roupa, à qual rói a traça.

28And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
