Jeremias 17

1O pecado de Judá está escrito com um ponteiro de ferro, com ponta de diamante, gravado na tábua do seu coração e nas pontas dos vossos altares.

1The sin of Judah {is} written with a pen of iron, {and} with the point of a diamond: {it is} graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars; {point: Heb. nail}

2Como também seus filhos se lembram dos seus altares, e dos seus bosques, junto às árvores frondosas, sobre os altos outeiros,

2Whilst their children remember their altars and their groves by the green trees upon the high hills.

3Ó meu monte, no campo, a tua riqueza e todos os teus tesouros, darei por presa, como também os teus altos, por causa do pecado, em todos os teus termos.

3O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance {and} all thy treasures to the spoil, {and} thy high places for sin, throughout all thy borders.

4Assim por ti mesmo te privarás da tua herança que te dei, e far-te-ei servir os teus inimigos, na terra que não conheces; porque o fogo que acendeste na minha ira arderá para sempre.

4And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue from thine heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fire in mine anger, {which} shall burn for ever. {thyself: Heb. in thyself}

5Assim diz o Senhor: Maldito o homem que confia no homem, e faz da carne o seu braço, e aparta o seu coração do Senhor!

5Thus saith the LORD; Cursed {be} the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

6Porque será como a tamargueira no deserto, e não verá quando vem o bem; antes morará nos lugares secos do deserto, na terra salgada e inabitável.

6For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, {in} a salt land and not inhabited.

7Bendito o homem que confia no Senhor, e cuja confiança é o Senhor.

7Blessed {is} the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

8Porque será como a árvore plantada junto às águas, que estende as suas raízes para o ribeiro, e não receia quando vem o calor, mas a sua folha fica verde; e no ano de sequidão não se afadiga, nem deixa de dar fruto.

8For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and {that} spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. {drought: or, restraint}

9Enganoso é o coração, mais do que todas as coisas, e perverso; quem o conhecerá?

9The heart {is} deceitful above all {things}, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10Eu, o Senhor, esquadrinho o coração e provo os rins; e isto para dar a cada um segundo os seus caminhos e segundo o fruto das suas ações.

10I the LORD search the heart, {I} try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, {and} according to the fruit of his doings.

11Como a perdiz, que choca ovos que não pôs, assim é aquele que ajunta riquezas, mas não retamente; no meio de seus dias as deixará, e no seu fim será um insensato.

11{As} the partridge sitteth {on eggs}, and hatcheth {them} not; {so} he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool. {sitteth...: or, gathereth young which she hath not brought forth}

12Um trono de glória, posto bem alto desde o princípio, é o lugar do nosso santuário.

12A glorious high throne from the beginning {is} the place of our sanctuary.

13Ó Senhor, esperança de Israel, todos aqueles que te deixam serão envergonhados; os que se apartam de mim serão escritos sobre a terra; porque abandonam o Senhor, a fonte das águas vivas.

13O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, {and} they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

14Cura-me, Senhor, e sararei; salva-me, e serei salvo; porque tu és o meu louvor.

14Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou {art} my praise.

15Eis que eles me dizem: Onde está a palavra do Senhor? Venha agora.

15Behold, they say unto me, Where {is} the word of the LORD? let it come now.

16Porém eu não me apressei em ser o pastor seguindo-te; nem tampouco desejei o dia da aflição, tu o sabes; o que saiu dos meus lábios está diante de tua face.

16As for me, I have not hastened from {being} a pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was {right} before thee. {to...: Heb. after thee}

17Não me sejas por espanto; meu refúgio és tu no dia do mal.

17Be not a terror unto me: thou {art} my hope in the day of evil.

18Envergonhem-se os que me perseguem, e não me envergonhe eu; assombrem-se eles, e não me assombre eu; traze sobre eles o dia do mal, e destrói-os com dobrada destruição.

18Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction. {destroy...: Heb. break them with a double breach}

19Assim me disse o Senhor: Vai, e põe-te à porta dos filhos do povo, pela qual entram os reis de Judá, e pela qual saem; como também em todas as portas de Jerusalém.

19Thus said the LORD unto me; Go and stand in the gate of the children of the people, whereby the kings of Judah come in, and by the which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem;

20E dize-lhes: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor, vós, reis de Judá e todo o Judá, e todos os moradores de Jerusalém que entrais por estas portas.

20And say unto them, Hear ye the word of the LORD, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates:

21Assim diz o Senhor: Guardai as vossas almas, e não tragais cargas no dia de sábado, nem as introduzais pelas portas de Jerusalém;

21Thus saith the LORD; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring {it} in by the gates of Jerusalem;

22Nem tireis cargas de vossas casas no dia de sábado, nem façais obra alguma; antes santificai o dia de sábado, como eu ordenei a vossos pais.

22Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.

23Mas não escutaram, nem inclinaram os seus ouvidos; antes endureceram a sua cerviz, para não ouvirem, e para não receberem correção.

23But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.

24Mas se vós diligentemente me ouvirdes, diz o Senhor, não introduzindo cargas pelas portas desta cidade no dia de sábado, e santificardes o dia de sábado, não fazendo nele obra alguma,

24And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;

25Então entrarão pelas portas desta cidade reis e príncipes, que se assentem sobre o trono de Davi, andando em carros e em cavalos; e eles e seus príncipes, os homens de Judá, e os moradores de Jerusalém; e esta cidade será habitada para sempre.

25Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall remain for ever.

26E virão das cidades de Judá, e dos arredores de Jerusalém, e da terra de Benjamim, e das planícies, e das montanhas, e do sul, trazendo holocaustos, e sacrifícios, e ofertas de alimentos, e incenso, trazendo também sacrifícios de louvores à casa do Senhor.

26And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD.

27Mas, se não me ouvirdes, para santificardes o dia de sábado, e para não trazerdes carga alguma, quando entrardes pelas portas de Jerusalém no dia de sábado, então acenderei fogo nas suas portas, o qual consumirá os palácios de Jerusalém, e não se apagará.

27But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.
