Isaías 59

1Eis que a mão do SENHOR não está encolhida, para que não possa salvar; nem agravado o seu ouvido, para não poder ouvir.

1Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2Mas as vossas iniqüidades fazem separação entre vós e o vosso Deus; e os vossos pecados encobrem o seu rosto de vós, para que não vos ouça.

2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid {his} face from you, that he will not hear. {have hid: or, have made him hide}

3Porque as vossas mãos estão contaminadas de sangue, e os vossos dedos de iniqüidade; os vossos lábios falam falsidade, a vossa língua pronuncia perversidade.

3For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

4Ninguém há que clame pela justiça, nem ninguém que compareça em juízo pela verdade; confiam na vaidade, e falam mentiras; concebem o mal, e dão à luz a iniqüidade.

4None calleth for justice, nor {any} pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

5Chocam ovos de basilisco, e tecem teias de aranha; o que comer dos ovos deles, morrerá; e, quebrando-os, sairá uma víbora.

5They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper. {cockatrice': or, adder's} {crushed...: or, sprinkled is as if there brake out a viper}

6As suas teias não prestam para vestes nem se poderão cobrir com as suas obras; as suas obras são obras de iniqüidade, e obra de violência há nas suas mãos.

6Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works {are} works of iniquity, and the act of violence {is} in their hands.

7Os seus pés correm para o mal, e se apressam para derramarem o sangue inocente; os seus pensamentos são pensamentos de iniqüidade; destruição e quebrantamento há nas suas estradas.

7Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts {are} thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction {are} in their paths. {destruction: Heb. breaking}

8Não conhecem o caminho da paz, nem há justiça nos seus passos; fizeram para si veredas tortuosas; todo aquele que anda por elas não tem conhecimento da paz.

8The way of peace they know not; and {there is} no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace. {judgment: or, right}

9Por isso o juízo está longe de nós, e a justiça não nos alcança; esperamos pela luz, e eis que só há trevas; pelo resplendor, mas andamos em escuridão.

9Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, {but} we walk in darkness.

10Apalpamos as paredes como cegos, e como os que não têm olhos andamos apalpando; tropeçamos ao meio-dia como nas trevas, e nos lugares escuros como mortos.

10We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if {we had} no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; {we are} in desolate places as dead {men}.

11Todos nós bramamos como ursos, e continuamente gememos como pombas; esperamos pelo juízo, e não o há; pela salvação, e está longe de nós.

11We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but {there is} none; for salvation, {but} it is far off from us.

12Porque as nossas transgressões se multiplicaram perante ti, e os nossos pecados testificam contra nós; porque as nossas transgressões estão conosco, e conhecemos as nossas iniqüidades;

12For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions {are} with us; and {as for} our iniquities, we know them;

13Como o prevaricar, e mentir contra o Senhor, e o desviarmo-nos do nosso Deus, o falar de opressão e rebelião, o conceber e proferir do coração palavras de falsidade.

13In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

14Por isso o direito se tornou atrás, e a justiça se pôs de longe; porque a verdade anda tropeçando pelas ruas, e a eqüidade não pode entrar.

14And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

15Sim, a verdade desfalece, e quem se desvia do mal arrisca-se a ser despojado; e o Senhor viu, e pareceu mal aos seus olhos que não houvesse justiça.

15Yea, truth faileth; and he {that} departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw {it}, and it displeased him that {there was} no judgment. {maketh...: or, is accounted mad} {it displeased...: Heb. it was evil in his eyes}

16E vendo que ninguém havia, maravilhou-se de que não houvesse um intercessor; por isso o seu próprio braço lhe trouxe a salvação, e a sua própria justiça o susteve.

16And he saw that {there was} no man, and wondered that {there was} no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

17Pois vestiu-se de justiça, como de uma couraça, e pôs o capacete da salvação na sua cabeça, e por vestidura pôs sobre si vestes de vingança, e cobriu-se de zelo, como de um manto.

17For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance {for} clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

18Conforme forem as obras deles, assim será a sua retribuição, furor aos seus adversários, e recompensa aos seus inimigos; às ilhas dará ele a sua recompensa.

18According to {their} deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence. {deeds: Heb. recompences}

19Então temerão o nome do Senhor desde o poente, e a sua glória desde o nascente do sol; vindo o inimigo como uma corrente de águas, o Espírito do Senhor arvorará contra ele a sua bandeira.

19So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. {lift...: or, put him to flight}

20E virá um Redentor a Sião e aos que em Jacó se converterem da transgressão, diz o Senhor.

20And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.

21Quanto a mim, esta é a minha aliança com eles, diz o Senhor: o meu espírito, que está sobre ti, e as minhas palavras, que pus na tua boca, não se desviarão da tua boca nem da boca da tua descendência, nem da boca da descendência da tua descendência, diz o Senhor, desde agora e para todo o sempre.

21As for me, this {is} my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that {is} upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
