Isaías 37

1E aconteceu que, tendo ouvido isso, o rei Ezequias rasgou as suas vestes, e se cobriu de saco, e entrou na casa do SENHOR.

1And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard {it}, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

2Então enviou Eliaquim, o mordomo, e Sebna, o escrivão, e os anciãos dos sacerdotes, cobertos de sacos, ao profeta Isaías, filho de Amós.

2And he sent Eliakim, who {was} over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests covered with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

3E disseram-lhe: Assim diz Ezequias: Este dia é dia de angústia, e de vitupério, e de blasfêmias; porque chegados são os filhos ao parto, e força não há para dá-los à luz.

3And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day {is} a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and {there is} not strength to bring forth. {blasphemy: or, provocation}

4Porventura o SENHOR teu Deus terá ouvido as palavras de Rabsaqué, a quem o rei da Assíria, seu senhor, enviou para afrontar o Deus vivo, e para vituperá-lo com as palavras que o SENHOR teu Deus tem ouvido; faze oração pelo remanescente que ficou.

4It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up {thy} prayer for the remnant that is left. {left: Heb. found}

5E os servos do rei Ezequias foram ter com Isaías.

5So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

6E Isaías lhes disse: Assim direis a vosso senhor: Assim diz o SENHOR: Não temas à vista das palavras que ouviste, com as quais os servos do rei da Assíria me blasfemaram.

6And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

7Eis que porei nele um espírito, e ele ouvirá um rumor, e voltará para a sua terra; e fá-lo-ei cair morto à espada na sua terra.

7Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land. {send...: or, put a spirit into him}

8Voltou, pois, Rabsaqué, e achou ao rei da Assíria pelejando contra Libna; porque ouvira que já se havia retirado de Laquis.

8So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

9E, ouviu ele dizer que Tiraca, rei da Etiópia, tinha saído para lhe fazer guerra. Assim que ouviu isto, enviou mensageiros a Ezequias, dizendo:

9And he heard say concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, He is come forth to make war with thee. And when he heard {it}, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

10Assim falareis a Ezequias, rei de Judá, dizendo: Não te engane o teu Deus, em quem confias, dizendo: Jerusalém não será entregue na mão do rei da Assíria.

10Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

11Eis que já tens ouvido o que fizeram os reis da Assíria a todas as terras, destruindo-as totalmente; e escaparias tu?

11Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered?

12Porventura as livraram os deuses das nações que meus pais destruíram: Gozã, e Harã, e Rezefe, e os filhos de Éden, que estavam em Telassar?

12Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed, {as} Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which {were} in Telassar?

13Onde está o rei de Hamate, e o rei de Arpade, e o rei da cidade de Sefarvaim, Hena e Iva?

13Where {is} the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?

14Recebendo, pois, Ezequias as cartas das mãos dos mensageiros, e lendo-as, subiu à casa do Senhor; e Ezequias as estendeu perante o Senhor.

14And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

15E orou Ezequias ao Senhor, dizendo:

15And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying,

16Ó Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, que habitas entre os querubins; tu mesmo, só tu és Deus de todos os reinos da terra; tu fizeste os céus e a terra.

16O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest {between} the cherubims, thou {art} the God, {even} thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.

17Inclina, ó Senhor, o teu ouvido, e ouve; abre, Senhor, os teus olhos, e vê; e ouve todas as palavras de Senaqueribe, as quais ele enviou para afrontar o Deus vivo.

17Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.

18Verdade é, Senhor, que os reis da Assíria assolaram todas as nações e suas terras.

18Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries, {nations: Heb. lands}

19E lançaram no fogo os seus deuses; porque deuses não eram, senão obra de mãos de homens, madeira e pedra; por isso os destruíram.

19And have cast their gods into the fire: for they {were} no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them. {cast: Heb. given}

20Agora, pois, ó Senhor nosso Deus, livra-nos da sua mão; e assim saberão todos os reinos da terra, que só tu és o Senhor.

20Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou {art} the LORD, {even} thou only.

21Então Isaías, filho de Amós, mandou dizer a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Quanto ao que pediste acerca de Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria,

21Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:

22Esta é a palavra que o Senhor falou a respeito dele: A virgem, a filha de Sião, te despreza, de ti zomba; a filha de Jerusalém meneia a cabeça por detrás de ti.

22This {is} the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, {and} laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

23A quem afrontaste e blasfemaste? E contra quem alçaste a voz, e ergueste os teus olhos ao alto? Contra o Santo de Israel.

23Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted {thy} voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? {even} against the Holy One of Israel.

24Por meio de teus servos afrontaste o Senhor, e disseste: Com a multidão dos meus carros subi eu aos cumes dos montes, aos últimos recessos do Líbano; e cortarei os seus altos cedros e as suas faias escolhidas, e entrarei na altura do seu cume, ao bosque do seu campo fértil.

24By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, {and} the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, {and} the forest of his Carmel. {By thy...: Heb. By the hand of thy servants} {the tall...: Heb. the tallness of the cedars thereof and the choice of the fir trees thereof} {the forest...: or, the forest and his fruitful field}

25Eu cavei, e bebi as águas; e com as plantas de meus pés sequei todos os rios dos lugares sitiados.

25I have digged, and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of the besieged places. {besieged: or, fenced and closed}

26Porventura não ouviste que já há muito tempo eu fiz isto, e já desde os dias antigos o tinha formado? Agora porém o fiz vir, para que tu fosses o que destruísse as cidades fortificadas, e as reduzisse a montões de ruínas.

26Hast thou not heard long ago, {how} I have done it; {and} of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste defenced cities {into} ruinous heaps. {Hast...: or, Hast thou not heard how I have made it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? should I now bring it to be laid waste, and defenced cities to be ruinous heaps?}

27Por isso os seus moradores, dispondo de pouca força, andaram atemorizados e envergonhados; tornaram-se como a erva do campo, e a relva verde, e o feno dos telhados, e o trigo queimado antes da seara.

27Therefore their inhabitants {were} of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were {as} the grass of the field, and {as} the green herb, {as} the grass on the housetops, and {as corn} blasted before it be grown up. {of small...: Heb. short of hand}

28Porém eu conheço o teu assentar, e o teu sair, e o teu entrar, e o teu furor contra mim.

28But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me. {abode: or, sitting}

29Por causa do teu furor contra mim, e porque a tua arrogância subiu até aos meus ouvidos, portanto porei o meu anzol no teu nariz e o meu freio nos teus lábios, e te farei voltar pelo caminho por onde vieste.

29Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

30E isto te será por sinal: Este ano se comerá o que espontaneamente nascer, e no segundo ano o que daí proceder; porém no terceiro ano semeai e segai, e plantai vinhas, e comei os frutos delas.

30And this {shall be} a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat {this} year such as groweth of itself; and the second year that which springeth of the same: and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.

31Porque o que escapou da casa de Judá, e restou, tornará a lançar raízes para baixo, e dará fruto para cima.

31And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward: {the remnant...: Heb. the escaping of the house of Judah that remaineth}

32Porque de Jerusalém sairá o restante, e do monte de Sião os que escaparem; o zelo do Senhor dos Exércitos fará isto.

32For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this. {they...: Heb. the escaping}

33Portanto, assim diz o Senhor acerca do rei da Assíria: Não entrará nesta cidade, nem lançará nela flecha alguma; tampouco virá perante ela com escudo, ou levantará trincheira contra ela.

33Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.

34Pelo caminho por onde vier, por esse voltará; porém nesta cidade não entrará, diz o Senhor.

34By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

35Porque eu ampararei esta cidade, para livrá-la, por amor de mim e por amor do meu servo Davi.

35For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

36Então saiu o anjo do Senhor, e feriu no arraial dos assírios a cento e oitenta e cinco mil deles; e, quando se levantaram pela manhã cedo, eis que todos estes eram corpos mortos.

36Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they {were} all dead corpses.

37Assim Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, se retirou, e se foi, e voltou, e habitou em Nínive.

37So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

38E sucedeu que, estando ele prostrado na casa de Nisroque, seu deus, Adrameleque e Sarezer, seus filhos, o feriram à espada; escaparam para a terra de Ararate; e Esar-Hadom, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

38And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead. {Armenia: Heb. Ararat}
