1Capítulo 7 — O mesmo continuou.

1Chapter 7 — The same continued.

2Esteja alerta, portanto, contra tais pessoas.

2Be on your guard, therefore, against such persons.

3E este será o seu caso se você não se ensoberbecer e continuar em união íntima com Jesus Cristo, nosso Deus, e com o bispo, e com os decretos dos apóstolos.

3And this will be the case with you if you are not puffed up, and continue in intimate union with Jesus Christ our God, and the bishop, and the enactments of the apostles.

4Quem está dentro do altar é puro, mas quem está fora não é puro; isto é, aquele que faz qualquer coisa além do bispo, do presbitério e dos diáconos, tal homem não é puro em sua consciência.

4He that is within the altar is pure, but he that is without is not pure; that is, he who does anything apart from the bishop, and presbytery, and deacons, such a man is not pure in his conscience.

5Estejam vigilantes, portanto, contra tais pessoas, para que não admitam uma armadilha para suas próprias almas.

5Be on your guard, therefore, against such persons, that ye admit not of a snare for your own souls.

6E aja de modo que sua vida seja isenta de ofensa a todos os homens, para que não se torne “como um laço na torre de vigia e como uma rede estendida”.

6And act so that your life shall be without offence to all men, lest ye become as "a snare upon a watch-tower, and as a net which is spread out".

7Pois “aquele que não se cura pelas suas próprias obras é irmão daquele que se destrói”.

7For "he that does not heal himself in his own works, is the brother of him that destroys himself".

8Se, portanto, vocês também deixarem de lado a presunção, a arrogância, o desdém e a arrogância, será seu privilégio estar inseparavelmente unidos a Deus, pois “Ele está perto daqueles que O temem”.

8If, therefore, ye also put away conceit, arrogance, disdain, and haughtiness, it will be your privilege to be inseparably united to God, for "He is nigh unto those that fear Him".

9E diz Ele: “Para quem olharei, senão para aquele que é humilde e quieto, e que treme com minhas palavras?” E vocês também reverenciam seu bispo como o próprio Cristo, conforme os abençoados apóstolos lhe ordenaram.

9And says He, "Upon whom will I look, but upon him that is humble and quiet, and that trembles at my words?" And do ye also reverence your bishop as Christ Himself, according as the blessed apostles have enjoined you.

10Aquele que está dentro do altar é puro, portanto também é obediente ao bispo e aos presbíteros: mas aquele que está fora é aquele que faz qualquer coisa além do bispo, dos presbíteros e dos diáconos.

10He that is within the altar is pure, wherefore also he is obedient to the bishop and presbyters: but he that is without is one that does anything apart from the bishop, the presbyters, and the deacons.

11Tal pessoa tem a consciência contaminada e é pior que um infiel.

11Such a person is defiled in his conscience, and is worse than an infidel.

12Pois o que é o bispo senão aquele que, além de todos os outros, possui todo o poder e autoridade, na medida em que é possível a um homem possuí-los, que, de acordo com sua capacidade, foi feito imitador do Cristo de Deus? E o que é o presbitério senão uma assembleia sagrada, os conselheiros e assessores do bispo? E o que são os diáconos senão imitadores dos poderes angélicos, cumprindo um ministério puro e irrepreensível para ele, como o santo Estêvão fez ao bem-aventurado Tiago, Timóteo e Lino a Paulo, Anencleto e Clemente a Pedro? Aquele, portanto, que não obedece a tais pessoas, deve ser alguém totalmente sem Deus, um homem ímpio que despreza a Cristo e deprecia Suas nomeações.

12For what is the bishop but one who beyond all others possesses all power and authority, so far as it is possible for a man to possess it, who according to his ability has been made an imitator of the Christ of God? And what is the presbytery but a sacred assembly, the counsellors and assessors of the bishop? And what are the deacons but imitators of the angelic powers, fulfilling a pure and blameless ministry unto him, as the holy Stephen did to the blessed James, Timothy and Linus to Paul, Anencletus and Clement to Peter? He, therefore, that will not yield obedience to such, must needs be one utterly without God, an impious man who despises Christ, and depreciates His appointments.
