1Capítulo 6 — Abstenha-se do veneno dos hereges.

1Chapter 6 — Abstain from the poison of heretics.

2Eu, portanto, ainda não eu, mas o amor de Jesus Cristo, rogo-vos que useis apenas alimentação cristã e se abstenham de ervas de um tipo diferente; Quero dizer heresia.

2I therefore, yet not I, but the love of Jesus Christ, entreat you that ye use Christian nourishment only, and abstain from herbage of a different kind; I mean heresy.

3Pois aqueles que são dados a isso misturam Jesus Cristo com seu próprio veneno, falando coisas indignas de crédito, como aqueles que administram uma droga mortal no vinho doce, que aquele que ignora toma avidamente, com um prazer fatal que leva à sua própria morte.

3For those that are given to this mix up Jesus Christ with their own poison, speaking things which are unworthy of credit, like those who administer a deadly drug in sweet wine, which he who is ignorant of does greedily take, with a fatal pleasure leading to his own death.

4Eu, portanto, ainda não eu, por amor de Jesus Cristo, “rogo-vos que faleis todos a mesma coisa, e que não haja divisões entre vós; mas que estejais perfeitamente unidos na mesma mente e no mesmo julgamento”.

4I therefore, yet not I, out the love of Jesus Christ, "entreat you that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind, and in the same judgment".

5Pois existem alguns faladores e enganadores vãos, não cristãos, mas traidores de Cristo, que levam o nome de Cristo em engano e "corrompem a palavra" do Evangelho; enquanto misturam o veneno de seu engano com sua conversa persuasiva, como se misturassem acônito com vinho doce, para que aquele que bebe, sendo enganado em seu paladar pela grande doçura da bebida, possa incautamente encontrar a morte.

5For there are some vain talkers and deceivers, not Christians, but Christ-betrayers, bearing about the name of Christ in deceit, and "corrupting the word" of the Gospel; while they intermix the poison of their deceit with their persuasive talk, as if they mingled aconite with sweet wine, that so he who drinks, being deceived in his taste by the very great sweetness of the draught, may incautiously meet with his death.

6Um dos antigos nos dá este conselho: “Não seja chamado bom aquele que mistura o bem com o mal”.

6One of the ancients gives us this advice, "Let no man be called good who mixes good with evil".

7Pois eles falam de Cristo, não para que possam pregar a Cristo, mas para que possam rejeitar a Cristo; e falam da lei, não para estabelecer a lei, mas para proclamar coisas contrárias a ela.

7For they speak of Christ, not that they may preach Christ, but that they may reject Christ; and they speak of the law, not that they may establish the law, but that they may proclaim things contrary to it.

8Pois eles alienam Cristo do Pai, e a lei de Cristo.

8For they alienate Christ from the Father, and the law from Christ.

9Eles também caluniam o fato de ele ter nascido da Virgem; eles têm vergonha de Sua cruz; eles negam Sua paixão; e eles não acreditam em Sua ressurreição.

9They also calumniate His being born of the Virgin; they are ashamed of His cross; they deny His passion; and they do not believe His resurrection.

10Apresentam Deus como um Ser desconhecido; eles supõem que Cristo não foi gerado; e quanto ao Espírito, não admitem que Ele exista.

10They introduce God as a Being unknown; they suppose Christ to be unbegotten; and as to the Spirit, they do not admit that He exists.

11Alguns deles dizem que o Filho é um mero homem, e que o Pai, o Filho e o Espírito Santo são apenas a mesma pessoa, e que a criação é obra de Deus, não por Cristo, mas por algum outro poder estranho.

11Some of them say that the Son is a mere man, and that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are but the same person, and that the creation is the work of God, not by Christ, but by some other strange power.
