1Capítulo 5 — Não vou te ensinar doutrinas profundas.

1Chapter 5 — I will not teach you profound doctrines.

2Não posso escrever-te sobre coisas celestiais? Mas temo fazê-lo, para não infligir dano a vocês, que são apenas bebês em Cristo.

2Am I not able to write to you of heavenly things? But I fear to do so, lest I should inflict injury on you who are but babes in Christ.

3Perdoe-me a esse respeito, para que, por não ser capaz de receber tais doutrinas, você não seja estrangulado por elas.

3Pardon me in this respect, lest, as not being able to receive such doctrines, ye should be strangled by them.

4Pois mesmo eu, embora esteja ligado a Cristo, ainda assim não sou capaz de compreender as coisas celestiais, e os lugares dos anjos, e suas reuniões sob seus respectivos príncipes, coisas visíveis e invisíveis.

4For even I, though I am bound for Christ, yet am not on that account able to understand heavenly things, and the places of the angels, and their gatherings under their respective princes, things visible and invisible.

5Sem referência a assuntos tão obscuros, ainda sou apenas um aprendiz em outros aspectos; pois muitas coisas nos faltam, para que não nos faltemos a Deus.

5Without reference to such abstruse subjects, I am still but a learner in other respects; for many things are wanting to us, that we come not short of God.

6Pois não poderia eu escrever-te coisas mais cheias de mistério? Mas temo fazê-lo, para não infligir dano a vocês, que são apenas bebês em Cristo.

6For might not I write to you things more full of mystery? But I fear to do so, lest I should inflict injury on you who are but babes in Christ.

7Perdoe-me a esse respeito, para que, por não ser capaz de receber seu importante significado, você não seja estrangulado por eles.

7Pardon me in this respect, lest, as not being able to receive their weighty import, ye should be strangled by them.

8Pois mesmo eu, embora esteja ligado a Cristo, e seja capaz de compreender as coisas celestiais, as ordens angélicas, e os diferentes tipos de anjos e hostes, as distinções entre poderes e domínios, e as diversidades entre tronos e autoridades, o poder dos aeons, e a preeminência dos querubins e serafins, a sublimidade do espírito, o reino do Senhor, e acima de tudo, a incomparável majestade do Todo-Poderoso Deus - embora eu esteja familiarizado com essas coisas, ainda assim não sou de forma alguma perfeito; nem sou um discípulo como Paulo ou Pedro.

8For even I, though I am bound for Christ, and am able to understand heavenly things, the angelic orders, and the different sorts of angels and hosts, the distinctions between powers and dominions, and the diversities between thrones and authorities, the mightiness of the aeons, and the pre-eminence of the cherubim and seraphim, the sublimity of the spirit, the kingdom of the Lord, and above all, the incomparable majesty of Almighty God—though I am acquainted with these things, yet am I not therefore by any means perfect; nor am I such a disciple as Paul or Peter.

9Pois muitas coisas ainda me faltam, para que eu não fique aquém de Deus.

9For many things are yet wanting to me, that I may not fall short of God.
