1The Epistle of Ignatius to the Trallians Shorter and Longer Versions Ignatius, who is also called Theophorus, to the holy Church which is at Tralles, in Asia, beloved of God, the Father of Jesus Christ, elect, and worthy of God, possessing peace through the flesh, and blood, and passion of Jesus Christ, who is our hope, through our rising again to Him, which also I salute in its fulness, and in the apostolical character, and wish abundance of happiness.

2Inácio, também chamado Teóforo, à santa Igreja que está em Tralles, amada por Deus Pai, e por Jesus Cristo, eleito e digno de Deus, possuidora da paz pela carne e pelo Espírito de Jesus Cristo, que é a nossa esperança, na sua paixão pela cruz e morte, e na sua ressurreição, que também saúdo na sua plenitude e no caráter apostólico, e desejo abundância de felicidades.

2Ignatius, who is also called Theophorus, to the holy Church which is at Tralles, beloved by God the Father, and Jesus Christ, elect, and worthy of God, possessing peace through the flesh and Spirit of Jesus Christ, who is our hope, in His passion by the cross and death, and in His resurrection, which also I salute in its fulness, and in the apostolical character, and wish abundance of happiness.

4Eu sei que vocês possuem uma mente irrepreensível e sincera em paciência, e isso não apenas na prática atual, mas de acordo com a natureza inerente, como Políbio, seu bispo, me mostrou, que veio a Esmirna pela vontade de Deus e de Jesus Cristo, e tão simpatizado com a alegria que eu, que estou ligado em Cristo Jesus, possuo, que vi toda a sua multidão nele.

4I know that ye possess an unblameable and sincere mind in patience, and that not only in present practice, but according to inherent nature, as Polybius your bishop has shown me, who has come to Smyrna by the will of God and Jesus Christ, and so sympathized in the joy which I, who am bound in Christ Jesus, possess, that I beheld your whole multitude in him.

5Tendo, portanto, recebido através dele o testemunho de sua boa vontade, segundo Deus, me gloriei em encontrar vocês, como eu sabia que vocês eram, os seguidores de Deus.

5Having therefore received through him the testimony of your good-will, according to God, I gloried to find you, as I knew you were, the followers of God.

6Eu sei que vocês possuem uma mente irrepreensível e sincera em paciência, e isso não apenas para uso presente, mas como uma posse permanente, como Políbio, seu bispo, me mostrou, que veio a Esmirna pela vontade de Deus, o Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo, Seu Filho, com a cooperação do Espírito, e tão simpatizado com a alegria que eu, que estou ligado em Cristo Jesus, possuo, que vi toda a sua multidão Nele.

6I know that ye possess an unblameable and sincere mind in patience, and that not only for present use, but as a permanent possession, as Polybius your bishop has shown me, who has come to Smyrna by the will of God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, His Son, with the co-operation of the Spirit, and so sympathized in the joy which I, who am bound in Christ Jesus, possess, that I beheld your whole multitude in Him.

7Tendo, portanto, recebido através dele o testemunho de sua boa vontade segundo Deus, alegrei-me ao descobrir que vocês eram seguidores de Jesus Cristo, o Salvador.

7Having therefore received through him the testimony of your good-will according to God, I gloried to find that you were the followers of Jesus Christ the Saviour.
