1Capítulo 7 — Razão de desejar morrer.

1Chapter 7 — Reason of desiring to die.

2O príncipe deste mundo de bom grado me levaria embora e corromperia minha disposição para com Deus.

2The prince of this world would fain carry me away, and corrupt my disposition towards God.

3Que nenhum de vocês, portanto, que está em Roma o ajude; antes esteja do meu lado, isto é, do lado de Deus.

3Let none of you, therefore, who are in Rome help him; rather be ye on my side, that is, on the side of God.

4Não fale de Jesus Cristo e ainda assim coloque seus desejos no mundo.

4Do not speak of Jesus Christ, and yet set your desires on the world.

5Não deixem que a inveja encontre morada entre vocês; nem mesmo eu deveria, quando presente com vocês, exortá-los a isso, ser persuadidos a me ouvir, mas antes dar crédito às coisas que agora escrevo para vocês.

5Let not envy find a dwelling-place among you; nor even should I, when present with you, exhort you to it, be ye persuaded to listen to me, but rather give credit to those things which I now write to you.

6Pois embora eu esteja vivo enquanto escrevo para você, estou ansioso para morrer.

6For though I am alive while I write to you, yet I am eager to die.

7Meu amor foi crucificado e não há fogo em mim que deseje ser alimentado; mas há dentro de mim uma água que vive e fala, dizendo-me interiormente: Vem para o Pai.

7My love has been crucified, and there is no fire in me desiring to be fed; but there is within me a water that liveth and speaketh, saying to me inwardly, Come to the Father.

8Não tenho prazer em alimentos corruptíveis, nem nos prazeres desta vida.

8I have no delight in corruptible food, nor in the pleasures of this life.

9Desejo o pão de Deus, o pão celestial, o pão da vida, que é a carne de Jesus Cristo, o Filho de Deus, que depois se tornou da semente de Davi e de Abraão; e desejo a bebida de Deus, ou seja, o Seu sangue, que é amor incorruptível e vida eterna.

9I desire the bread of God, the heavenly bread, the bread of life, which is the flesh of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who became afterwards of the seed of David and Abraham; and I desire the drink of God, namely His blood, which is incorruptible love and eternal life.

12Do not speak of Jesus Christ, and yet prefer this world to Him.

13Não deixem que a inveja encontre morada entre vocês; nem mesmo eu deveria, quando presente com vocês, exortá-los a isso, fiquem persuadidos, mas antes dar crédito às coisas que agora escrevo para vocês.

14Pois embora eu esteja vivo enquanto escrevo para vocês, estou ansioso para morrer por causa de Cristo.

14For though I am alive while I write to you, yet I am eager to die for the sake of Christ.

15Meu amor foi crucificado e não há fogo em mim que ame alguma coisa; mas há água viva jorrando em mim e que me diz interiormente: Vem para o Pai.

15My love has been crucified, and there is no fire in me that loves anything; but there is living water springing up in me, and which says to me inwardly, Come to the Father.

16Não tenho prazer em alimentos corruptíveis, nem nos prazeres desta vida.

16I have no delight in corruptible food, nor in the pleasures of this life.

17Desejo o pão de Deus, o pão celestial, o pão da vida, que é a carne de Jesus Cristo, o Filho de Deus, que depois se tornou da semente de Davi e de Abraão; e desejo a bebida, ou seja, o Seu sangue, que é amor incorruptível e vida eterna.
