1Capítulo 4 - Permita-me ser vítima de feras selvagens.

1Chapter 4 — Allow me to fall a prey to the wild beasts.

2Escrevo às igrejas e impressiono a todas elas que morrerei voluntariamente por Deus, a menos que vocês me impeçam.

2I write to the Churches, and impress on them all, that I shall willingly die for God, unless ye hinder me.

3Rogo-lhe que não demonstre uma boa vontade fora de época para comigo.

3I beseech of you not to show an unseasonable good-will towards me.

4Permita que eu me torne alimento para os animais selvagens, através de cuja instrumentalidade me será concedido chegar a Deus.

4Suffer me to become food for the wild beasts, through whose instrumentality it will be granted me to attain to God.

5Eu sou o trigo de Deus e deixe-me ser moído pelos dentes das feras, para que seja achado o pão puro de Cristo.

5I am the wheat of God, and let me be ground by the teeth of the wild beasts, that I may be found the pure bread of Christ.

6Em vez disso, atraia as feras, para que se tornem minha tumba e não deixem nada do meu corpo; para que, quando eu adormecer na morte, não seja problema para ninguém.

6Rather entice the wild beasts, that they may become my tomb, and may leave nothing of my body; so that when I have fallen asleep in death, I may be no trouble to any one.

7Então serei verdadeiramente um discípulo de Cristo, quando o mundo não verá tanto quanto o meu corpo.

7Then shall I truly be a disciple of Christ, when the world shall not see so much as my body.

8Roga a Cristo por mim, para que por estes instrumentos eu possa ser considerado um sacrifício a Deus.

8Entreat Christ for me, that by these instruments I may be found a sacrifice to God.

9Eu não, como Pedro e Paulo, dou mandamentos a vocês.

9I do not, as Peter and Paul, issue commandments unto you.

10Eles eram apóstolos; Sou apenas um homem condenado: eles eram livres, enquanto eu sou, até agora, um servo.

10They were apostles; I am but a condemned man: they were free, while I am, even until now, a servant.

11Mas quando eu sofrer, serei o liberto de Jesus e ressuscitarei emancipado Nele.

11But when I suffer, I shall be the freed-man of Jesus, and shall rise again emancipated in Him.

12E agora, sendo um prisioneiro, aprendo a não desejar nada mundano ou vão.

12And now, being a prisoner, I learn not to desire anything worldly or vain.

17Rather entice the wild beasts, that they may become my tomb, and may leave nothing of my body; so that when I have fallen asleep in death, I may not be found troublesome to any one.

18Então serei um verdadeiro discípulo de Jesus Cristo, quando o mundo não verá tanto quanto meu corpo.

18Then shall I be a true disciple of Jesus Christ, when the world shall not see so much as my body.

19Rogai ao Senhor por mim, para que por estes instrumentos eu possa ser considerado um sacrifício a Deus.

19Entreat the Lord for me, that by these instruments I may be found a sacrifice to God.

20Eu não, como Pedro e Paulo, dou mandamentos a vocês.

20I do not, as Peter and Paul, issue commandments unto you.

21Eles eram apóstolos de Jesus Cristo, mas eu sou o menor dos crentes: eles eram livres, como servos de Deus; enquanto eu sou, até agora, um servo.

21They were apostles of Jesus Christ, but I am the very least of believers: they were free, as the servants of God; while I am, even until now, a servant.

22Mas quando eu sofrer, serei o liberto de Jesus Cristo e ressuscitarei emancipado Nele.

22But when I suffer, I shall be the freed-man of Jesus Christ, and shall rise again emancipated in Him.

23E agora, estando preso a Ele, aprendo a não desejar nada mundano ou vão.

23And now, being in bonds for Him, I learn not to desire anything worldly or vain.
