1Capítulo 3 — Roga antes para que eu chegue ao martírio.

1Chapter 3 — Pray rather that I may attain to martyrdom.

2Você nunca invejou ninguém; você ensinou outros.

2Ye have never envied any one; ye have taught others.

3Agora desejo que essas coisas sejam confirmadas por sua conduta, que em suas instruções você ordena aos outros.

3Now I desire that those things may be confirmed by your conduct, which in your instructions ye enjoin on others.

4Apenas peça em meu favor força interior e exterior, para que eu possa não apenas falar, mas verdadeiramente desejar; e que eu possa não apenas ser chamado de cristão, mas realmente ser considerado um.

4Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength, that I may not only speak, but truly will; and that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one.

5Pois se eu for verdadeiramente considerado um cristão, também poderei ser chamado de cristão, e então ser considerado fiel, quando não aparecer mais ao mundo.

5For if I be truly found a Christian, I may also be called one, and be then deemed faithful, when I shall no longer appear to the world.

6Nada visível é eterno.

6Nothing visible is eternal.

7“Porque as coisas que se veem são temporais, mas as que não se veem são eternas”.

7"For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal".

8Pois o nosso Deus, Jesus Cristo, agora que está com o Pai, é ainda mais revelado na Sua glória.

8For our God, Jesus Christ, now that He is with the Father, is all the more revealed in His glory.

9O cristianismo não é apenas uma questão de silêncio, mas também de grandeza manifesta.

9Christianity is not a thing of silence only, but also of manifest greatness.

11Now I desire that those things may be confirmed by your conduct, which in your instructions ye enjoin on others.

15"For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal".

16O cristão não é fruto da persuasão, mas do poder.

16The Christian is not the result of persuasion, but of power.

17Quando ele é odiado pelo mundo, ele é amado por Deus.

17When he is hated by the world, he is beloved of God.

18Pois diz a Escritura: “Se fôsseis deste mundo, o mundo amaria o que é seu; mas agora vós não sois do mundo, mas eu vos escolhi dele: continuai em comunhão comigo”.

18For says the Scripture, "If ye were of this world, the world would love its own; but now ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of it: continue in fellowship with me".
