1Chapter 2 — I rejoice in your messengers.

2Desde então, tive o privilégio de vê-lo, através de Damas, seu mais digno bispo, e através de seus dignos presbíteros Bassus e Apolônio, e através de meu companheiro de serviço, o diácono Sotio, cuja amizade posso sempre desfrutar, na medida em que ele está sujeito ao bispo quanto à graça de Deus, e ao presbitério quanto à lei de Jesus Cristo, escrevo-lhe agora.

2Since, then, I have had the privilege of seeing you, through Damas your most worthy bishop, and through your worthy presbyters Bassus and Apollonius, and through my fellow-servant the deacon Sotio, whose friendship may I ever enjoy, inasmuch as he is subject to the bishop as to the grace of God, and to the presbytery as to the law of Jesus Christ, I now write to you.

3Desde então, tive o privilégio de vê-lo, através de Damas, seu mais digno bispo, e através de seus dignos presbíteros Bassus e Apolônio, e através de meu conservo, o diácono Sotio, cuja amizade posso sempre desfrutar, na medida em que ele, pela graça de Deus, está sujeito ao bispo e ao presbitério, na lei de Jesus Cristo, escrevo-lhe agora.
