1Capítulo 5 - Ore por mim.

1Chapter 5 — Pray for me.

2Meus irmãos, estou grandemente ampliado em amar vocês; e regozijando-me muito por você, procuro garantir sua segurança.

2My brethren, I am greatly enlarged in loving you; and rejoicing exceedingly over you, I seek to secure your safety.

3No entanto, não sou eu, mas Jesus Cristo, por quem estou preso, tenho mais medo, visto que ainda não sou perfeito.

3Yet it is not I, but Jesus Christ, for whose sake being bound I fear the more, inasmuch as I am not yet perfect.

4Mas a sua oração a Deus me tornará perfeito, para que eu possa alcançar aquela porção que pela misericórdia me foi concedida, enquanto fujo para o Evangelho como para a carne de Jesus, e para os apóstolos como para o presbitério da Igreja.

4But your prayer to God shall make me perfect, that I may attain to that portion which through mercy has been allotted me, while I flee to the Gospel as to the flesh of Jesus, and to the apostles as to the presbytery of the Church.

5E amemos também os profetas, porque também eles anunciaram o Evangelho, depositaram nele a sua esperança e esperaram por Ele; em quem também crendo, foram salvos, pela união com Jesus Cristo, sendo homens santos, dignos de amor e admiração, tendo tido o testemunho que lhes foi dado por Jesus Cristo, e sendo contados conosco no Evangelho da esperança comum.

5And let us also love the prophets, because they too have proclaimed the Gospel, and placed their hope in Him, and waited for Him; in whom also believing, they were saved, through union to Jesus Christ, being holy men, worthy of love and admiration, having had witness borne to them by Jesus Christ, and being reckoned along with us in the Gospel of the common hope.

6Meus irmãos, estou grandemente ampliado em amar vocês; e regozijando-me muito por você, procuro garantir sua segurança.

6My brethren, I am greatly enlarged in loving you; and rejoicing exceedingly over you, I seek to secure your safety.

7No entanto, não sou eu, mas o Senhor Jesus através de mim; por quem, estando preso, temo ainda mais, pois ainda não sou perfeito.

7Yet it is not I, but the Lord Jesus through me; for whose sake being bound, I fear the more, for I am not yet perfect.

8Mas a vossa oração a Deus me tornará perfeito, para que eu possa alcançar aquilo a que fui chamado, enquanto fujo para o Evangelho como para a carne de Jesus Cristo, e para os apóstolos como o presbitério da Igreja.

8But your prayer to God shall make me perfect, that I may attain that to which I have been called, while I flee to the Gospel as to the flesh of Jesus Christ, and to the apostles as the presbytery of the Church.

9Amo também os profetas como aqueles que anunciaram Cristo e como participantes do mesmo Espírito com os apóstolos.

9I do also love the prophets as those who announced Christ, and as being partakers of the same Spirit with the apostles.

10Pois assim como os falsos profetas e os falsos apóstolos atraíram para si um e o mesmo espírito perverso, enganoso e sedutor; assim também os profetas e os apóstolos receberam de Deus, por meio de Jesus Cristo, um e o mesmo Espírito Santo, que é bom, soberano e verdadeiro, e autor do conhecimento salvífico.

10For as the false prophets and the false apostles drew to themselves one and the same wicked, deceitful, and seducing spirit; so also did the prophets and the apostles receive from God, through Jesus Christ, one and the same Holy Spirit, who is good, and sovereign, and true, and the Author of saving knowledge.

11Pois existe um Deus do Antigo e do Novo Testamento, “um Mediador entre Deus e os homens”, para a criação de seres inteligentes e sensíveis, e para exercer sobre eles uma providência benéfica e adequada.

11For there is one God of the Old and New Testament, "one Mediator between God and men," for the creation of both intelligent and sensitive beings, and in order to exercise a beneficial and suitable providence over them.

12Há também um Consolador, que demonstrou Seu poder em Moisés, nos profetas e nos apóstolos.

12There is also one Comforter, who displayed His power in Moses, and the prophets, and apostles.

13Todos os santos, portanto, foram salvos por Cristo, esperando Nele e esperando por Ele; e obtiveram por Ele a salvação, sendo santos, dignos de amor e admiração, tendo o testemunho que lhes é dado por Jesus Cristo, no Evangelho da nossa esperança comum.

13All the saints, therefore, were saved by Christ, hoping in Him, and waiting for Him; and they obtained through Him salvation, being holy ones, worthy of love and admiration, having testimony borne to them by Jesus Christ, in the Gospel of our common hope.
