1Capítulo 3 — Evite cismáticos.

1Chapter 3 — Avoid schismatics.

2Mantenham-se longe daquelas plantas malignas que Jesus Cristo não cuida, porque elas não são plantadas pelo Pai.

2Keep yourselves from those evil plants which Jesus Christ does not tend, because they are not the planting of the Father.

3Não que eu tenha encontrado qualquer divisão entre vocês, mas uma pureza excessiva.

3Not that I have found any division among you, but exceeding purity.

4Porque todos os que são de Deus e de Jesus Cristo também estão com o bispo.

4For as many as are of God and of Jesus Christ are also with the bishop.

5E todos os que, no exercício do arrependimento, retornarem à unidade da Igreja, estes também pertencerão a Deus, para que possam viver de acordo com Jesus Cristo.

5And as many as shall, in the exercise of repentance, return into the unity of the Church, these, too, shall belong to God, that they may live according to Jesus Christ.

6Não erre, meus irmãos.

6Do not err, my brethren.

7Se alguém seguir aquele que comete um cisma na Igreja, não herdará o reino de Deus.

7If any man follows him that makes a schism in the Church, he shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

8Se alguém anda segundo uma opinião estranha, não concorda com a paixão de Cristo.

8If any one walks according to a strange opinion, he agrees not with the passion of Christ.

9Mantenham-se, então, longe daquelas plantas malignas que Jesus Cristo não cuida, mas daquela fera, a destruidora dos homens, porque elas não são a plantação do Pai, mas a semente do maligno.

9Keep yourselves, then, from those evil plants which Jesus Christ does not tend, but that wild beast, the destroyer of men, because they are not the planting of the Father, but the seed of the wicked one.

10Não que eu tenha encontrado qualquer divisão entre vós, escrevo estas coisas; mas eu os armo de antemão, como filhos de Deus.

10Not that I have found any division among you do I write these things; but I arm you beforehand, as the children of God.

11Porque todos os que são de Cristo também estão com o bispo; mas todos os que se afastam dele e abraçam a comunhão com os amaldiçoados, estes serão eliminados junto com eles.

11For as many as are of Christ are also with the bishop; but as many as fall away from him, and embrace communion with the accursed, these shall be cut off along with them.

12Pois eles não são criação de Cristo, mas a semente do inimigo, de quem você pode ser libertado pelas orações do pastor, aquele pastor mais fiel e gentil que o preside.

12For they are not Christ's husbandry, but the seed of the enemy, from whom may you ever be delivered by the prayers of the shepherd, that most faithful and gentle shepherd who presides over you.

13Exorto-vos, portanto, no Senhor, a receber com toda a ternura aqueles que se arrependem e regressam à unidade da Igreja, para que através da vossa bondade e paciência possam recuperar-se da armadilha do diabo e, tornando-se dignos de Jesus Cristo, possam obter a salvação eterna no reino de Cristo.

13I therefore exhort you in the Lord to receive with all tenderness those that repent and return to the unity of the Church, that through your kindness and forbearance they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, and becoming worthy of Jesus Christ, may obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom of Christ.

14Irmãos, não se enganem.

14Brethren, be not deceived.

15Se alguém seguir aquele que se separa da verdade, não herdará o reino de Deus; e se alguém não permanecer distante do pregador da falsidade, será condenado ao inferno.

15If any man follows him that separates from the truth, he shall not inherit the kingdom of God; and if any man does not stand aloof from the preacher of falsehood, he shall be condemned to hell.

16Pois não é obrigatório separar-se dos piedosos, nem associar-se aos ímpios.

16For it is obligatory neither to separate from the godly, nor to associate with the ungodly.

17Se alguém anda segundo uma opinião estranha, não é de Cristo, nem participante da Sua paixão; mas é uma raposa, uma destruidora da vinha de Cristo.

17If any one walks according to a strange opinion, he is not of Christ, nor a partaker of His passion; but is a fox, a destroyer of the vineyard of Christ.

18Não tenha comunhão com tal homem, para que você não pereça junto com ele, mesmo que ele seja seu pai, seu filho, seu irmão ou um membro de sua família.

18Have no fellowship with such a man, lest ye perish along with him, even should he be thy father, thy son, thy brother, or a member of thy family.

19Pois diz a Escritura: “Os teus olhos não o pouparão”.

19For says the Scripture, "Thine eye shall not spare him".

20Você deve, portanto, “odiar aqueles que odeiam a Deus e definhar em tristeza por causa de Seus inimigos”.

20You ought therefore to "hate those that hate God, and to waste away with grief on account of His enemies".

21Não quero dizer que você deva espancá-los ou persegui-los, como fazem os gentios “que não conhecem o Senhor e a Deus”; mas que você os considere como seus inimigos e se separe deles, enquanto ainda os admoesta e os exorta ao arrependimento, se for o caso, eles ouvirão, se for o caso, eles se submeterão.

21I do not mean that you should beat them or persecute them, as do the Gentiles "that know not the Lord and God;" but that you should regard them as your enemies, and separate yourselves from them, while yet you admonish them, and exhort them to repentance, if it may be they will hear, if it may be they will submit themselves.

22Pois o nosso Deus ama a humanidade e “quer que todos os homens sejam salvos e cheguem ao conhecimento da verdade”.

22For our God is a lover of mankind, and "will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth".

23Portanto "Ele faz nascer o Seu sol sobre maus e bons, e faz chover sobre justos e injustos"; de cuja bondade o Senhor, desejando que também sejamos imitadores, diz: “Sede perfeitos, como também é perfeito o vosso Pai que está nos céus”.

23Wherefore "He makes His sun to rise upon the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust;" of whose kindness the Lord, wishing us also to be imitators, says, "Be ye perfect, even as also your Father that is in heaven is perfect".
